Come on down to the biggest city in the southeast, Atlanta. The Atlanta area is one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the US, and its population is growing. People love the great arts and high culture options, the great southern charm, and the big city vibe that makes Atlanta homey and exciting. Atlanta is known as a "city in a forest" for the many trees that dot the urban landscape. At the Fernbank Natural History Museum and Science Center, you can even see a patch of native forest right in the city center. Head a little further out to one of the many parks along the Chattahoochee River for swimming, boating, and picnicking fun. Or, take off on the Keneda Canopy Walk to get a birds-eye view of Atlanta's beautiful trees.

The Atlanta metro area is also known for its abundant shopping. It is a hub for the southeast US, and has a number of excellent shops. Phipps Plaza offers great luxury shopping while the Mall of Georgia in Buford is the biggest mall in the state, covering all your shopping bases. The cute neighborhood of Little Five Points also offers some great local shopping and eating options. Browse through books at A Capella, an independent new and used book store, before heading over to get one of the best burgers in town at Vortex. The public transportation, the MARTA, can take you anywhere you need to go downtown, and most outlying cities have park-and-ride options for those early morning commutes. Great surrounding towns like Marietta and Dunwoody have city access with the MARTA, but still allow for great new single-family homes on large lots that families need.

There are excellent cultural places and events downtown. The High Museum of Art is one of the most popular museums in the south and can't be missed. The Children's Museum will surely delight kids of all ages, and probably mom and dad too. Atlanta is one of only a few cities to have resident performing companies in each art: theater, opera, ballet, and symphony orchestra. Buford Highway is a great stop to get a taste of a different kind of culture: ethnic cuisine. Representing the increasing international population of Atlanta, this stretch offers some of the most amazing food in town. If you head to any pub on the weekend, you'll find residents cheering on one of Atlanta's pro sports teams like the Hawks, Falcons, and Braves. Be sure to get your tickets to the always-fun Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl for a college football showdown.
