With its 350 days of sunshine a year and a superior quality of life, the Palm Springs area draws winter and resort visitors by the thousands every year. And it's these visitors, including corporate executives and empty nesters, who have created a local marketplace demand for new luxury homes available for fast move-in.
A national magazine recently chose Palm Springs as one of the 10 best small markets for new businesses and relocations in the country. According to the Palm Springs Department of Economic Development, once CEOs and owners have spent time in the Coachella Valley, they will often either buy a part-time residence here or will move their business.
"Not every luxury homebuyer has several months to a year for their home to be built," says Gary Lemon, assistant vice president of the Palm Springs Division of Toll Brothers, the nation's leading luxury homebuilder. "There are buyers who appreciate quality and demand, but don't have the time nor the desire to wait."
Located in the center of Riverside County, California's fastest growing county, the Palm Springs area has become a place where people come to visit and then never want to leave. "We've had awestruck out-of-towners who come in and want to buy the decorated model -- with cash -- for immediate, turn-key move-in," Lemon says.
Likewise, Lemon adds that high-level corporate executives, frequently moving from higher-priced housing markets, want the lifestyle and living environment that they've been accustomed to, without uprooting their families with temporary housing in between. "Our quick delivery homes offer every feature and distinguishing quality that Toll Brothers is known for. The only difference is the quicker move-in. We're building more of these homes because demand continues to increase."
