Cleves, Ohio, where the neighborhood reflects real small-town hospitality! This village was founded in 1818, named after settler John Cleves Symmes. Cleves has now grown to almost 3,000 residents. And in 2000 almost half the population had children under the age of 18 so you can see Cleves is ever growing!
As it is a small village the police department doesn't have to deal with much of any crime, and is able to put efforts elsewhere. They spearheaded a "Cleves step up drug fight" initiative. And yearly during Christmas they are sure to be found supervising "Christmas in the Village", a small, family friendly, parade complete with Santa Claus, the local school band, and kids lining the streets to catch some of the candy Mrs. Claus is throwing.
While Cleves loves to incorporate family friendly environments, sometimes you need to get away. Try either of the wonderful golf courses. Hillview is a beautiful 18-hole regulation course just waiting for you to take a swing, and Robin's nest which sits nicely on a 9-hole range! Once the sun starts to set you must head down to No Worries, a town favorite neighborhood bar. You can have a fun night out whether you're single or on a date, and the welcoming atmosphere makes it laid back and easy to have a good time. Walking in you're greeted by friendly faces, neighbors, people cluttered around the pool table, enjoying themselves with a competitive round of darts, friends at the bar ordering drinks, and the local band playing off to the side, just don't forget to hit the dance floor. Doesn't get much better than that, but wait it does-- happy hour runs from 2:30-7.
If the bar is too much, Cleves has a huge selection of local dining hot spots. Cleves Drive Inn, for one, represents the city well with its approachable atmosphere, great prices, and fast service. Not much for drive inn? Doris & Sonny's Homelike Restaurant is the perfect fix for your momma's home cooking; make sure you try the honey BBQ pulled pork sandwich!
Living in a village can make you stir crazy at times but don't worry, Cincinnati is just over 20 minutes away that hugs the river, leaving you with a beautiful view the drive there. This large city supplies entertainment for all. You're almost always sure to find a game, and the shopping is great, consisting of multiple malls, outlets, some quaint local retail shops, and just for the guys: a Bass Pro Shop. In the afternoon you can go for fine dining, and then drive back to the tranquil village of Cleves.
