Blythewood

Want to know a secret? You'll find it a little ways up Interstate 77, just past the bustle of Northeast Columbia: the not-so-rural town of Blythewood. As you drive up the interstate, you'll pass signs of technology and industry: giants CSC and Bose make their home here and supply the region with thousands of jobs. You'll also pass family communities like Lake Carolina and Longcreek Plantation, and the award-winning schools of Richland School District Two that make the Blythewood area a perfect place to grow your family. Once you leave the highway and enter Blythewood proper, you can't go far without passing a golf course. Columbia Country Club, Windermere and Cobblestone Park (formerly known as the University Club) are just a few of the outstanding golf courses in the Blythewood area. Something else you can't help but notice as you drive through Blythewood are the horses. There are more than fifty horse farms in the Blythewood area. The University of South Carolina Equestrian Center is headquartered here as well. Venture just a little farther north and discover another well-kept secret: Lake Wateree, tucked away among the rolling hills. This 13,000-acre lake has 216 miles of shoreline, beautiful secluded lakefront homes, and ideal fishing and boating. Lake Wateree State Park is one of the Midlands' most popular camping destinations. If Lake Murray is too busy for you, chances are you'll find Lake Wateree just your speed. Keep going north on 77, and you'll be in Charlotte in less than an hour. The Queen City is a banking and transportation hub, and a popular day-trip destination for Columbia residents–and nowhere in Columbia is closer to Charlotte than Blythewood. With a growing commercial presence, plenty of high-tech employment options, and a wide selection of recreational opportunities, Blythewood truly is Columbia's next big thing.
