Southwest Houston is a diverse region located around Beltway 8 and Highway 6 outside of Interstate 10 just 15 to 25 minutes away from Houston’s City Center. It consists of a mixture of low income as well as upper-class neighborhoods. The area is also a thriving economic center in Houston. Rice Epicurean Markets have built their corporate offices in the area. Each of the island cities located in the region offers employment opportunities. For instance, the city of Bellaire is where Chevron runs a 33-acre campus. There is also a shopping district located within the region known as Rice Village. The 300-acre campus stretches over ten city blocks and offers a myriad of retail shops.
The local, government-run Marian Park and Community Center has an indoor gymnasium, volleyball court and meeting rooms. There are outdoor amenities, which include an outdoor basketball courts, sports field and a quarter mile bicycle trail. There are old and new master planned communities that offer a country club style like Braeburn Country Club Estates.
