New Home Communities in Summit-Rocky Mountains

Summit County has been the preferred destination for people wanting to move close to the Rocky Mountains. Surrounded by high peaks, the county is located centrally in Colorado and is only an hour’s drive from the metropolitan area of Denver via Interstate 70, which also happens to be the state’s busiest transport corridor.

The lowest point in Summit County is roughly 8,000 feet above sea level while the highest point is more than 14,000 feet. This elevation results in wonderfully warm summers while the long winter makes for excellent skiing opportunities. You can enjoy biking, hiking, fishing, kayaking, and backpacking during summers at White River National Forest and Dillon Lake, which is among the most scenic spots in Colorado. Another great picnic spot is Silverthorne, popularly known among locals as the ‘Gateway of Summit County’.

The county’s various towns offer many recreation and shopping options that draw residents and visitors in huge numbers. Keystone is home to two championship golf courses where the thin atmosphere makes playing a real challenge. Additionally, Frisco’s Dillon Amphitheater is a popular spot with major concerts happening right beside the lake. During the summer, this venue also features live performances, country dance lessons and even a bluegrass festival.

Food and shopping is huge in Summit County. Breckenridge, for example, is famed for its diverse cuisine with more than 80 independent restaurants located here alone. While Breckenridge is known for food, Silverthorne features all the best shopping. It’s where you go for name-brand shopping. Downtown Breckenridge is another hit with boutique-shopping folks. This town also has a great art scene where hundreds swarm the town ever second Saturday of the month for its art walk.

The public schools in the county are operated under the Summit School District, which does an excellent job in administering the school communities of Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon and Silverthorne. The torchbearer of higher education though is Colorado Mountain College. The college’s Summit campus has two sites, one in Breckenridge and the other in Dillon with both offering a variety of degrees and certificate programs.

Summit County has a robust economy. The number of jobs has seen a healthy rise every year. With breathtaking views and gorgeous homes coming standard in Summit County, many families are flocking here not just for the homes and relaxed lifestyle, but for the exciting work opportunities in Summit County.
