Youngstown State University has an innovative American Studies program and a state-of-the-art planetarium for astronomy students. Within the school is the McDonough Museum of Art devoted to contemporary art. Business is booming within the city limits. The General Motors plant is one of the largest employers in the city, and several technology companies have expanded business in the downtown area.
