Get a Sneak Peek of Target’s Opalhouse Home Line

Watercolor yellow bird motif wallpaper with pink roses and a white background.

This bird and flower wallpaper was inspired by travels in Lisbon and is one item available from Target’s new home line, Opalhouse. The line is an eclectic collection with items that feature bold colors, textures and fabrics.

Get thee to a Target near you! Target is launching a new home brand that is bold, optimistic and eclectic.

“We’re introducing Opalhouse, a new home-owned brand centered around the eclectic aesthetic,” says Mark Tritton, Target’s chief merchandising officer, on Target’s blog, A Bullseye’s View. “The launch of Opalhouse helps round out our Home assortment.”

Indeed, Opalhouse is the eclectic piece missing from Target’s home offerings. Their other brands, like Threshold and Hearth & Hand with Magnolia, are fun, but formal. “About 90 percent of our guests like to mix and match styles to create a personalized look within their homes,” according to the blog post. “So, in 2017, we set out to introduce a number of new brands with clear and distinct points of view that have the flexibility to work together.”

Word art with quote from Target about Opalhouse inspiration that says “Our design team saw that bird on a street in Lisbon and the flowers near a market in Paris, and then painted that print while riding on a train to their next destination. A little inspiration coupled with a little watercolor, and voila! Wallpaper!”Opalhouse is for the informally fashionable; the ones with quirk to spare. This collection features globally inspired items. Target’s design team found inspiration, for example, for a watercolor yellow bird motif wallpaper with pink flowers and a white background after seeing birds on a Lisbon street.

The new line of 1,300 pieces includes décor, bedding, wallpaper, items for the bathroom and tabletop and furniture. Debuting this spring, items in the collection embrace details like pressed glass, jewel-toned silks and — wait for it — velvet! Target has managed to become a fan favorite due to its partnerships with great designers, both in the clothing department and the home department. This line will not disappoint fans of their recent home lines and who have been wanting to up the bold factor in their new home.

I often walk into Target with a plan to purchase just two or three things. I often walk out with 10 times more than that! Why? Because I love the items Target sells: most items have a fun design that I must have. So, when I hear that their newest line will mostly be under $30, I know that I will be able to decorate my home within budget, even if I splurge a little.

If you’re as excited as I am, you can’t wait for April 8 to roll around, because that’s when Opalhouse will be available in all Target stores and online. Get a sneak peek of Target’s new home line, Opalhouse, in the video below:
