Camilla McLaughlin is a freelance writer and editor with two decades experience writing about everything from cooking to construction. However, she specializes in real estate and anything related to house and home. In addition to NewHomeSource, she writes for a range of international and custom publications.

Her work has appeared in Unique Homes Magazine, the New York Times, Inman News, Realtor Magazine, HOW Magazine, Yahoo Real Estate as well as dozens of newspapers and online outlets and she has freelanced for the Associated Press.

Prior experience includes a stint as the as the editor of an editorially focused, weekly real estate section, which she created for a group of newspapers serving communities north of Boston, Mass. She has been a judge for the Aurora Awards for the Southeast Building Conference and also received the National Association of Real Estate Editors’ award for best real estate, mortgage or financial report in a magazine.

To learn more about the industry, Camilla got her real estate license and worked as an agent for a couple of years.

On a personal note, she has bought six houses, including new construction in different parts of the country, designed and built a green home using an architect, moved with three children at various ages in tow and even tried to downsize.
