New Construction Homes in Merced

Merced is a small Victorian town carved out of the beauty of Yosemite National Park. Known as the "Gateway to Yosemite", the city enjoys easy access to outdoor adventure all round the year. It is also situated at the heart of an urban makeover between Sacramento and Los Angeles area and offers ample opportunities for new residents.

Merced, along with Fresno, Madera, Turlock, Modesto, sits on State Route 99 like a pearl necklace around the Yosemite National Park. This arterial road merges with the Interstate 5 at many points like Stockton, Los Banos, Gustine, etc. The city of Merced has a well-planned layout neatly distributed on either side of the highway. Once you leave the busy vibe of the downtown area, you will notice wide tree lined pathways, old Victorian era Buildings like an 1875 Courthouse, an Antique Mall, a cute little public library, a theater with robust productions, et al.

A few family owned eateries have been the town’s favorite place to hang out for years now but the equation is changing with new cafes and restaurants sprouting everywhere. Fiesta Mexicana is one such laid-back place with a unique ambiance of its own. The town’s two breakfast darlings are the iconic Cinema Café and the cozy Bella Luna Bistro. They have a relaxed traditional menu with outdoor sitting and friendly waitstaff. New additions are bringing in a new breed of gastronomic experience into the city. Gateway Pizza N Subs, near the intersection Golden State Highway and V street is a food joint known for its wide variety of fast food while W Main Street has some delicious options on Asian fare like Taste of India, New China Café, etc.

But the true beauty of the city is beyond its city limits and a few miles towards the wild. Towards the eastern side, you have the magnificent wonder that is Yosemite National Park. From hidden trails and camping grounds among redwood trees to picturesque mountain scape and fresh valleys, the park is too big to be explored in a single lifetime. You also have a milder version of nature towards the western side of the city. The Merced National Wildlife Refuge is a bird watcher’s paradise with winter bringing in a multitude of birdy delight. A few miles up north is the Great Valley Grasslands State Park, filled with the fresh blossoms of the San Joaquin Valley. For watching wildlife, there is no better place than San Luis National Wildlife Refuge.
