Top New Home Cities in Rio Grande Valley

CityHomesAverage New Home Price
Edinburg9$316,990

The Rio Grande Valley encompasses the southernmost tip of Texas, running along the Rio Grande River which acts as the border between the US and Mexico. It is a lively area with an appealing mix of Texan and Mexican cultures, and is one of the fastest growing regions in the whole country, in part due to its favorable climate and cheap real estate. The area is home to four counties and numerous cities, its two largest being Brownsville and McAllen. Brownsville is currently being invested in by SpaceX, who is currently constructing a large private space launch facility just outside the city. The Valley, as it is known, is strongly reliant on tourism, as such it has numerous attractions of every stripe. From the partying South Padre Island on the coast to Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, a veritable paradise for bird-watchers, the region appeals to individuals of every temperament and every age. Outside of these extremes, you can expect to find attraction parks, nature reserves, beaches, museums, and historical and cultural monuments throughout the region. Another strong driver of the economy is citrus fruit; the Valley produces grapefruits, oranges, tangerines, and more. The Valley is also home to multiple universities, including The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Texas A&M University – McAllen Campus. These higher education options are both prevalent and prestigious. Homes in the Valley are cheap. Prices start as lower as 60000, and go as high as 290000, but generally average out in the lower 100s. The best part is that the low prices don’t buy small homes— a home in the 130s can get you three bedrooms and two bathrooms, maybe more. Hurry over to New Home Source to capitalize on these amazingly low prices, and score the home of a queen at the price of a peasant.
