Take Another Road
In February 2017, Minto Communities and Margaritaville Holdings announced their partnership to develop a brand new concept in active adult communities — Latitude Margaritaville. The first two are located in Daytona Beach, Fla. and Hilton Head, S.C. The communities pay homage to the laid-back vibe of Jimmy Buffett’s music. A third location is planned in Watersound, Fla. in the Florida Panhandle with more to follow.
Cheeseburger In Paradise
“Latitude Margaritaville has the exact coordinates for those looking to live the Margaritaville lifestyle as they grow older, but not up,” says John Cohlan, chief executive officer of Margaritaville. The age-restricted 55+ communities will appeal to those who are looking for a fun, active lifestyle. In line with the “no worries” vibe and resort-level amenities, the Margaritaville communities are where retirees will want to begin their next chapter. In addition, the communities will feature walkable neighborhoods, golf cart-friendly streets and easy access to shopping, entertainment, dining, health care and more. Villa and single-family homes range in size from 1,503 to 2,564 square feet under air. Pricing starts from $243,990.
One Particular Harbour
While not an age-restricted community, One Particular Harbour by Margaritaville, is also being developed as part of the Minto and Margaritaville Holdings partnership. One Particular Harbour offers 132 luxury vacation villa residences at Minto’s 220-acre private island community of Harbour Isle on Anna Maria Sound in Bradenton, FL. One Particular Harbour will have a marina with direct, deep-water access to the Gulf of Mexico. Harbour Isle residences feature island-inspired design and range from 1,483 square feet under air to 1,650 square feet under air. Homes start from the high $400s. For information on One Particular Harbour visit the sales center at 12300 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, FL or the website.
Changes in Latitudes
To offer Latitude Margartaville residents the best of what a beach town could offer, Minto selected Daytona Beach for the first Latitude Margaritaville because it is a world-famous and iconic destination. “Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach is located across from LPGA International, which features two signature golf courses by Rees Jones and Arthur Hills. In addition, Daytona Beach International Airport, world-famous Atlantic beaches, Daytona International Speedway, Tanger Outlet Mall and the Halifax Regional Medical Center all are just minutes away via I-95. Residents also will have their own, private Beach Club on the Atlantic Ocean with a continuous shuttle service from the community.
Growing Older, but Not Up
Just in case you’re wondering, the communities won’t appeal to only Jimmy Buffett fans.
“We, of course, are hearing from the many Jimmy Buffett fans worldwide who are determined to fulfill their dreams of actually living in Margaritaville,” says Bullock. “In addition, approximately 75 percent of those in our database had never visited a Margaritaville website prior to registering for Latitude. That tells us this concept has great appeal for the seasoned fan, as well as those seeking an active, fulfilling life in a fun community with resort-level amenities and distinctively designed Minto homes.”
Residents of Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach, Bullock says, will enjoy a lively downtown featuring the Fins Up! Fitness Center with aerobics studio, indoor lap pool, spa, group fitness classes, as well as wellness services and community programs from Halifax Health.
“Walkable neighborhoods and golf-cart friendly streets make it easy for residents to access all community amenities and encourage social interaction,” says Bullock. “Plus, a lively calendar of social events, live entertainment and interest clubs means there’s never a dull moment at Latitude Margaritaville.”
The Latitude Margaritaville communities include a Workin’ N’ Playin’ Center and a Coconut Telegraph Business Center. “Many 55-plus individuals are not fully retired, so this amenity includes both a business center and recreational and activities center,” says Bullock.
“There will be a range of programs, including arts and crafts, wellness programs, music lessons, mixology classes and other learning and entertainment programs offered,” he says. In addition to the many in-community amenities, there will be a golf cart accessible Margaritaville-inspired neighborhood retail center with grocery store adjacent to the community.
Wasting Away in Margaritaville
Bullock says that music will play a huge part in the community, which means residents will enjoy live entertainment under the bandshell and dancing in the Latitude Town Square.
So, does that mean Buffett and his crew will be the house band at these locations? “You never know when or where,” says Bullock. “Jimmy Buffett has a keen interest in the Latitude Margaritaville communities.” It was recently announced that Buffett has purchased a new home at Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach.
