When Johnny starts with a plot of land, he hires a traditional artist to help him visualize the home he would build on it. They talk about the layout of the property, the extra space, the flow from the interior to the outdoor living areas, and even the views the owners will enjoy from the windows. Johnny constructs whole environments. The artwork is then given to a designer, who will produce a set of plans based on Johnny's exact specifications. Each house is transformed into a one-of-a-kind work of art.

Why would anybody go this far when it's far easier to choose a set of plans from a designer's catalog, build the structure, and hang a sign in the front yard? That is not what Johnny would want for his own family. He founded Woody Built on the premise that a new house should be as unique to the builder as it is to the homeowner. It should not be a "standard procedure," but rather an experience. Johnny recognizes the actual complexity of multitasking necessary in today's construction industry but feels that this should not be an impediment to the relationship between builders and homeowners.

Johnny Woody was born and reared in the Triangle. For the past six years, he has witnessed the Triangle's transformation from a tiny Southern community to a cultural and business powerhouse that ranks near the top of Forbes Magazine's "Bests" rankings. As a businessman, he feels obligated to be an asset.
