Founded in the early 1900's Porterdale is a suburb of Atlanta mainly known for its textile mill that is still in operation today. Porterdale actually straddles the Yellow River where the mill used to get its power from. In historic Porterdale you will find Georgia's oldest intact mill village as well as Porterdale Yellow River Park that is home to the 18 hole Yellow River Park Disc Golf. The course is surrounded by wetlands in a 38-acre park that includes picnic areas, walking trails, grassy common areas, and more. Kayak the Yellow River to Heart Island up river or to the Porterdale mill dam which is downriver.
