ICFs (Insulated Concrete Forms) are an external wall system consisting of linked polystyrene forms filled with concrete and reinforced with steel. The combination of polystyrene's insulating qualities with the structural integrity of reinforced concrete results in an integrated ICF system that is stronger, safer, quieter, and more energy efficient. Stucco, brick, stone, wood, metal panel siding, vinyl, and other external wall finishes used on conventional wood exterior framed walls may be utilized. Because furring strips are placed at 8” centers in the walls – twice as close as wood studs – drywall installation is quicker and simpler than attaching to wood stud walls.
