Court spent the majority of his 25-year military career working as an advanced technology research scientist and technology program manager. He holds a bachelor's and master's in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University and a Ph.D. in applied physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology, making him one of Lubbock's most educated home builders.

After retiring from the Air Force in 2004, Court returned to Lubbock and began working at Ron Bassinger Homes, one of Lubbock's most successful and respected long-time builders. That was the first step in turning his passion for design and construction into a second career.
