Lake Quivira

Lake Quivira was established in 1922 based on the dream and the vision of Charles Gault, who wanted to create “a lake of the finest water” in Johnson County. He laid the foundation of the community of Lake Quivira, building a golf course, clubhouse, dam, and developing Crescent Beach. By the 1960s, Lake Quivira had evolved into a gated, private community, today recognized as a third-class city.

Residents of Lake Quivira enjoy an abundance of fine amenities and the camaraderie you would expect to find in a true family-oriented residential community. At the heart of the community are the rolling hills and lush fairways of Lake Quivira Country Club’s private, 18-hold championship golf course that overlooks the 224-acre lake for which the community is named. That spring-fed lake also provides plenty of recreation options, with activities for the entire family, including scuba diving, wake-boarding, water-skiing, fishing, swimming, and boating. In the southwest corner of the community, 126 acres of undeveloped land has been reserved for camping, cross country skiing, jogging, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. There is a community barn and nature center located here as well. The Lake Quivira Community Center is home to tennis & basketball courts, a jogging & walking track, a cardio and fitness area with lake views, a therapy & lap training pool, locker rooms with sauna and steam rooms, and multi-use rooms. There’s even an on-site pre-school. The Lake Quivira Clubhouse is a popular place for socializing and fine dining. With all of these amenities, it is no surprise that Lake Quivira has become one of the best neighborhoods in Kansas City to live, play, celebrate, and escape.
