If you get the Compton model, be sure to question about gutters for the front door. We were told we didn't need gutters, but there is a virtual flood over the front door whenever it rains. Also, understand what you choose may not include common things like towel bars and towel rings. Be prepared to wait for responses, although eventually they do respond.

Built a great home very quickly (too quickly) Project manager was great and very responsive up until closing date. After moving in, we noticed a lot of things Un-finished. This is my first home and expected the closeout to be close to perfect, this however was not the case. Un/finished home and we now a month later have to go through warranty to get our problems fixed.

The rushed slot of stuff in the house, they should they have not taken there time. Cracks in the structures inside, appliances not working, gutting has holes, take your time and build these homes..

I have no regrets moving into a Centex house! I absolutely love my house. And I would buy from Centex again and would/have recommended them. However since I have been living in the home for the last 3 weeks, I have been seeing little things with the building materials. They are minor fixes, not worth trying to contact the builder, but I know what to look for now if I were to buy another house from Centex. The one thing I didn't like is toward the end, nearing my closing......I could tell things were rushed. The driveway has cement droppings over the cured cement and it wasn't corrected. Some cement was slung onto the stone part of my house on the outside and it wasn't cleaned off and now it's hard. It's like things like that I can tell they rushed and things were done sloppily. But overall, I have a beautiful house in a very nice community! The only reason I didn't give a 4 rating is due to the Sales office for poor customer service. Something’s needed to be fixed

They act like the Covenants are a big deal but when they are broken they are not enforced. I wanted a neighborhood with restrictions, but what are Covenants if they are not enforced

Poor attic insulation ,the floor needs adjustment, the walls begin to show nails. the plaster of the foundation is falling, never received parts of the kitchen cabinets, the main room is very hot with respect to the rest of the house, never received the paintings that were used in the house

I would've given the Summit by pulte/centex 4 stars for value for price paid, BUT for one HUGE reason - their TWO-CAR garage doesn't fit ONE regular sized short-bed crewcab truck! One of the MAIN reasons I purchased a home was so I could safely park my truck when I went on long out of town journeys (which I do for at least 6 months in a year), so I was quite shocked to find out that my truck didn't fit (another 1 1/2 feet of depth of garage would've helped) inside the garage. When I reported it to the Pulte folks, they didn't bother to respond for several days and even when they did, they just told me "get a smaller vehicle"! You'd think that a single family home with a decent lot size IN TEXAS would fit a regular sized short bed pickup truck! I'll never ever buy a Pulte/centex home nor would I recommend it to any friends or family either. ... More

House fine. Finish details not so fine. Sales rep not qualified. Misleading info. Changes story. Would not work with hm again.

We had a minor dishwasher issue that needed to be fixed. When they pulled out the dishwasher we could see a hole through the wall and light was shining through. It was large enough for a fist to fit through. It makes me wonder if there are any other problems behind the walls that won't be noticed until there is a problem.

Paint on floors and not dry before move in. Doorways, door knobs and locks not working properly Areas of flooring not adhered Cupboard drawers not sliding smoothly Poorly constructed exterior fences

Needs to focus more in final details

We purchased the home as it was almost completed (didn't build out ourselves). We have had quite a few issues, most of which were resolved after multiple contacts, but still have some issues we are told we just have to wait until they get to it with no actual time frame.

The people helping set up and follow up on the buying process were fantastic and have no issues with this process. The walkthroughs were great I was being told things are checked and double checked. The problem now is I keep having issues with electrical, plumbing, and now windows leaking during rain. I was against buying a new house for fear of these reasons, these reasons that I was told shouldn’t be a problem. I keep having to take whole days off work just to be here to fix all these problems. The only saving grace is that the warranty people do in fact respond relatively quick, but I am not happy right now. ... More

The purchasing agent was great, the building process was pretty good. After moving in we have had problems with the hvac system, mold, and cabinets pulling off of the walls. The response to those issues has been very mediocre and doesn’t really seem to be much of a priority. The subcontractors especially colonial heating could care less and seem more interested in passing the problem off then really trying to figure out the problem.

We discovered that the studs are off, some are spaced 25", other studs are 17", makes me wonder how safely the house was built. One of the walls in the backyard can be pulled back and forth. There is a crack in the stucco wall of the house. The hot water values are reversed. Tickets have been submitted but nothing has been doneto fix the issues.

Slow to assist with areas of concerns and problems.

Builder did not plan out street well, and built everything except lot next to me. Now dealing with contractors who work past dark 10 pm, through nails and roofing materials on my property and refuse to clean up. Also when I was sold house the house model was full brick. Now realizing mine is only 25%, so discouraged that this would happen, without agent indicating this. Also homes for sale are not cared for yards not mowed for weeks, and trash from contractors every where. Contractors frequently blocked driveway even though plenty of other places to park on street without residents. Builder is aware of issues but nothing has changed. ... More

Since I bought the house in March, I was told that in April or May they would finish paving the parking lot, installing the stormwater pipes leading to the street, and planting the grass, but it's already June and nothing has been done yet. This is a deficiency in the planning, scheduling, and logistics processes. And also the details or defects that appear inside the house that one discovers after moving in, the response to their repair is very slow and nonexistent. That is, a deficiency in after-sales customer service. I hope this comment serves as constructive criticism so you can implement process improvement techniques in the near future. Had a lot of things wrong and messed up that had to be fixed prior to moving in. Was not told the truth about how much monthly payments were going to be. Some of the people were pushy and impatient when we were trying to decide whether or not to buy.

Horrible customer service with construction manager JOE.

I don't know I could recommend Centex in good faith if someone were to ask. I am going to be getting another home in the area soon for myself and am not considering another Centex proiperty.

We were really excited to get into our new home as it was really beautiful and had the space and many upgrades we were looking for. However, upon move-in about a month ago, we began to notice and experience many issues and we have now started to worry about the quality of the build and the customer service when there are issues. We noted two major concerns during our final walk through, and only one issue has been fixed to date. We haven't heard anything or a timeline on when the other issue will addressed. Additionally, after closing we came in to find drywall paint and dark stain in several spots on our brand new carpet from some of the issues we had asked to be repaired prior to closing - no update on this and what, if anything, will be done. Carpet and padding already worn down on the stairs because carpet was installed too early. Also, I ran my dishwasher one time after moving in - it was fine. Second time I went to start it, I received an error code and it never worked again. Per the Whirlpool warranty with Pulte, I contacted the service folks and it took 2 weeks before a service person was available to come out. When they did, he said the dishwasher has a bad panel and the panel needs completely replaced. Still waiting for parts to arrive so they can fix (and hopefully it does actually fix it). I asked for a new one, as it is clearly a lemon - no response. It has been almost a month now that I have not had a dishwasher in a brand new house with a family of four. Additionally, our irrigation system has not run since we moved in and no one has responded to our concern about this. Our sod is brown, and there are tons of tall weeds growing in the grass. Additionally, the grout is already cracked in the upstairs bathroom, the doorbell does not ring properly, we are missing screens on some of the windows that should have them - just to name a few issues. Though we did get a lot of house for a reasonable price, I am glad we didn't pay more because the quality is just not there and neither is the service. Also, don't rely on information provided to you about the home on paper alone. We did a quick sale and during the process we were told our home had a 4 foot garage extension, we signed paperwork with our offer that showed it was included and then we discovered it did not actually have this option, which was one of the reasons we had made an offer on the home. If you are thinking about buying, I would encourage you to visit in person and ask lots of questions and verify things (especially sizing of rooms, garages, etc) yourself. If all of the issues were addressed and in a timely fashion, I may feel differently - but as a brand new home buyer, it's apparent that the company puts up so many homes, and right on top of one another, and their focus is quantity/making money. I haven't experienced that they care about quality and good workmanship. I don't think they care if their buyers are happy after move-in.... they are on to the next home and sale. The more I walk around my brand new build the more disappointed I am that I purchased here. Size wise great, quality of work rushed and things that should look brand new look like it is a year old home.

We are from the north and used to our homes being built to a higher standard.
