I wanted to wait a few months to do the review so I could give a fair assessment of my Centex home. First and foremost, I appreciated the fact that there was always someone I could call if I had an issue. Overall, I think the home is worth what I paid for it, just make sure you get everything you ask for before you sign anything; after that, the chances of getting whatever it is you were offered is, more than likely, not going to happen. The first things that stood out to me about the house I purchases was the workmanship; it was shoddy at best. I could tell my home was built from a "quantity" standpoint versus a "quality' standpoint. My move in date got pushed back because I had issues with the way some of the "finished" items looked. Although the issues were all repaired, there were enough to keep my caution up for the first few months. Besides the breaker panel being mislabeled and not receiving new labels to label it correctly, there weren't any major or potential issues I saw until about my second month in the house. My heat wasn't circulating throughout my house so I enacted the warranty. Within a day, I received a phone call and made an appointment for someone to come and take a look at my ventilations system. I was pretty impressed with the speedy response. However, after a specialist inspected my ventilation system, I was told that, not only was a bad damper motor installed, but the foundation (I'm assuming some type of blocks or wood) that kept the system aligned hadn't been installed. Thankfully, it was all repaired, but at the same time, I wonder what else needs to be repaired that I don't know about. Some work very good, some not to our expectations. Garage concrete work very poor quality. Sheetrock texture very disappointing and bull nose corners just so so.

My overall experience in the beginning was great! But, as I moved into the home I began noticing a lot of things that were wrong. I was in communication with the Field Manager at first but I guess he became overwhelmed with my many concerns about things not being up to par as they were presented upon closing and stopped answering my calls and responding to text messages. I still have unresolved repairs/issues from inside and outside.

Doesn’t respond to work order in a decent about of time

I periodically dropped in, to see the construction progress on my house. Claudia, in the sales office, was incredible. She provided me with weekly updates. It was truly amazing to watch the house come together. However I did find some disturbing issues that caused my trust to fail. At one point, I found a lot of alcohol containers, scattered in the house. Food debris was also tossed onto new cement foundation, inside of the house, some greasy or oily meat products, oily chips, etc. I felt this could draw bugs. Another issue was right before close, I found people apparently living in the house. Human debris and excrement left behind. Globs of hair in drains. Spit globs in sink. Showers used. Stained tubs. Human excrement (both kinds) on walls, floor, and stuck inside and outside toilets. Making it worse was that I was there with family, to "show off" the progress on my new house, when we walked in on this disgusting mess, in both bathrooms. Completely unnecessary, since many, many port o' John's were right outside, some even in my front yard. I reported issues w/ photos to main office. However, it just seemed as if nobody cared. I began to figure that this is perhaps normal and customary, to have alcohol bottles, raw trash, and human excrement scattered throughout new home construction. I didn't know. Nobody seemed to care. However, at the time, I felt not enough was being done to protect my house. I finally resigned that you can't "make people care". After close, just for peace of mind, I had to invest in extensive deep cleaning of the bathroom walls, floors, and also, carpets. In general. I would still recommend this company, but perhaps visit your house periodically, during construction, just to check on things. Eval of PULTE MORTGAGE: As far as Pulte mortgage, their professionalism leaves a lot to be desired. After close, I received numerous phone calls from them, wanting me to correct mistakes they made it closing, I.e., documents left out, signatures needed, etc. It seemed like a hoax, bcz they called and emailed so much. Perhaps train your workers?? Ask them to care?? ... More

Lots of flaws in the house that still need to be addressed. To include the poor job done by the exterminator used.

We are enjoying our new home, however the extremely poor communication and management during the build process was extremely frustrating.

Our site manager was really great in explaining everything to us during the build. We really appreciate his hard work, however now that we have moved in we have noticed multiple issues that show the laziness of the builders cutting corners to get the house built. Needless to say, we will be calling several work orders.

I would have like the builder to replace my sod like I was promised. The sod is uneven and in pieces.

Andy was great and set clear expectations. Management of the build was well coordinated. Seemingly inferior quality materials when I compare to the new build my mother in law has in progress with another builder at a lower price point. Example concrete driveway instead of asphalt. Undersized mechanicals cause Issues with proper cooling in the summer. For the price would have expected sod throughout. Neighborhood looks poor in areas due to seeding vs sod. They used to provide full sod but went with a cheaper option of partial sod last year. Overall house was built quickly with decent quality. Most frustrations are with mechanicals and landscaping shortcomings. ... More

Make the time to go through each phase of the build.

If you get the Compton model, be sure to question about gutters for the front door. We were told we didn't need gutters, but there is a virtual flood over the front door whenever it rains. Also, understand what you choose may not include common things like towel bars and towel rings. Be prepared to wait for responses, although eventually they do respond.

Built a great home very quickly (too quickly) Project manager was great and very responsive up until closing date. After moving in, we noticed a lot of things Un-finished. This is my first home and expected the closeout to be close to perfect, this however was not the case. Un/finished home and we now a month later have to go through warranty to get our problems fixed.

The rushed slot of stuff in the house, they should they have not taken there time. Cracks in the structures inside, appliances not working, gutting has holes, take your time and build these homes..

I have no regrets moving into a Centex house! I absolutely love my house. And I would buy from Centex again and would/have recommended them. However since I have been living in the home for the last 3 weeks, I have been seeing little things with the building materials. They are minor fixes, not worth trying to contact the builder, but I know what to look for now if I were to buy another house from Centex. The one thing I didn't like is toward the end, nearing my closing......I could tell things were rushed. The driveway has cement droppings over the cured cement and it wasn't corrected. Some cement was slung onto the stone part of my house on the outside and it wasn't cleaned off and now it's hard. It's like things like that I can tell they rushed and things were done sloppily. But overall, I have a beautiful house in a very nice community! The only reason I didn't give a 4 rating is due to the Sales office for poor customer service. Something’s needed to be fixed

They act like the Covenants are a big deal but when they are broken they are not enforced. I wanted a neighborhood with restrictions, but what are Covenants if they are not enforced

Poor attic insulation ,the floor needs adjustment, the walls begin to show nails. the plaster of the foundation is falling, never received parts of the kitchen cabinets, the main room is very hot with respect to the rest of the house, never received the paintings that were used in the house

I would've given the Summit by pulte/centex 4 stars for value for price paid, BUT for one HUGE reason - their TWO-CAR garage doesn't fit ONE regular sized short-bed crewcab truck! One of the MAIN reasons I purchased a home was so I could safely park my truck when I went on long out of town journeys (which I do for at least 6 months in a year), so I was quite shocked to find out that my truck didn't fit (another 1 1/2 feet of depth of garage would've helped) inside the garage. When I reported it to the Pulte folks, they didn't bother to respond for several days and even when they did, they just told me "get a smaller vehicle"! You'd think that a single family home with a decent lot size IN TEXAS would fit a regular sized short bed pickup truck! I'll never ever buy a Pulte/centex home nor would I recommend it to any friends or family either. ... More

House fine. Finish details not so fine. Sales rep not qualified. Misleading info. Changes story. Would not work with hm again.

We had a minor dishwasher issue that needed to be fixed. When they pulled out the dishwasher we could see a hole through the wall and light was shining through. It was large enough for a fist to fit through. It makes me wonder if there are any other problems behind the walls that won't be noticed until there is a problem.

Paint on floors and not dry before move in. Doorways, door knobs and locks not working properly Areas of flooring not adhered Cupboard drawers not sliding smoothly Poorly constructed exterior fences

Needs to focus more in final details

We purchased the home as it was almost completed (didn't build out ourselves). We have had quite a few issues, most of which were resolved after multiple contacts, but still have some issues we are told we just have to wait until they get to it with no actual time frame.
