We came to New Braunfels TX needing a home. It was stressful with a new job and pregnant wife. Melissa helped relieve the stress by finding us a home and getting us moved in within our time window! With houses in high demand we were pleased to find a home. Thank You to Melissa and Austin in the Elley Crossing sales office. Brett made sure our house was ready at closing. This team did a good job with our home!

I like my weekly updates that was great. I had a few issues when I moved in but everything’s been taken care of. I was very upset that at signing I didn’t get a hold of Big key or take pictures or get a welcome basket...lol I’m not very happy with the neighborhood there’s just way too many cars all over the street it’s ridiculous how you always having to pull to the side so somebody else can pass. I even paid more for my premium lot so I wouldn’t have neighbors in front of me and the neighbors down the street park all their company vehicles all right in front of my home. And most of all I ...

Our New Home Review

Centex was great to work with throughout the home construction and purchasing process. We love our new home and many of the features are excellent. We would have liked to have other options for some of the finishes (faucets, lights, etc.), and we never received a paint touch up kit which we were told was something everyone would be given. We were also given a tree in our backyard that began to die and lose its leaves within two days of its installation, although there is a chance it will come back in the spring. There was also a short delay in our keys being provided to us on our closing day. ...

For a suburban home lot it isn't bad. I cant help but think could could more out of my money by just custom building slightly further out of town. It is a tract home so quality is pretty good for the most part but there Is definitely signs of going fast. They did a decent job for drainage on the whole community but they should have still put more thought into it because they definitely went the cheap route.

There are a couple of issues that still need to be address. But don't know who to contact, as we have mentioned it twice to the Centex Realtor at the new home sales office. The ground/front yard is not leveled and very uneven in many places. My elderly father who lives with me has fallen a couple of times because the ground has so many uneven areas. I have also tripped and twisted my ankle when walking throughout our front yard. Its difficult to continue to clean out the weeds because its difficult to walk safely throughout the yard. Who can help us fix this issue? Our neighbors said they ...

I got a great price per square foot on a new home in Elley Crossing. Unfortunately, I'm finding out you get what you pay for. I experienced several quality control issues that, for the most part, they're willing to address. But it can be a bit of a hassle to see these issues through. I still have some pending. Also, all lighting fixtures and bathroom finishings used in my home were very basic. But that could be why I got such a good price. The paint quality could be better too, and my yards are still an unleveled mess, but overall, I still feel like I got a good deal. Maybe I should be asked ...

The experience buying the house was smooth and people helped a lot to make the experience pleasant. The House looks good outside and inside except the material used for walls seem to be lacking in the sense that it's not strong enough. Realized that after moving in .When dining chair touches the wall or if someone lean towards the wall with the dining chair, the wall start having some traces of material coming off etc... There's no sound proof. I could hear people talking in the living while I upstairs in my room with door closed.

Where’s the craftsmanships?

All staff have been very nice. I find the craftsmanship of the home to be lacking. It’s the fine details. My ceiling is crooked. The exhaust vents in the bathrooms were installed very loose. The chalking all around the house just looks like a child laid it. The flooring adhesive is all over the place. There’s more but I’m done for now.

We have a scheduled closing date but when we arrive we were told that it was change which wasted our time. Also, they keep changing the dates coz meter still not installed. We ended up paying extra cash on the date we close which was unsatisfactory.

It was good in the beginning

The over all purchase was easy and seamless. They stayed in contact the entire time. There were a few issues that were found and micheal the project manager did help me. But the backyard was left a mess with trash from the builders. The grass that was placed in the front yard is patchy because the landscapers brought dead grass. I watered as much as I was supposed to. And paid someone to come flatten it so it would actually grow. There was no effort out in with that grass. Everything else was pretty good. It’s a good home overall.

Awesome Centex Staff, but poor quality of sub contractors

  • Ricco Z.

We purchased a home that was already close to being finished so our experience is only on the back end. The staff as a whole are very good, friendly, and supportive. However the sub contractors they use to build their homes is poor; contractors they hire do not take pride in their work and it shows everywhere in the home. I understand it's a business so they try to find the cheapest contractor, but at some point there needs to be some venting for QA as the price we pay should reflect the quality of work which due to the people the hire to build the homes isn't there. Once again the staff is ...

I have been in my home about a month and a half. The appliances came with it. Every time I use the dryer the breaker trips. I put in a service request and an electrical company called to tell me they can’t come til the 23rd of the month. So I am left with a new home with new appliances and I will have to got to the washeteria for the next to weeks. Totall UNACCEPTABLE, I am so upset and disappointed

Overall good experience but not very pleased with the overall finishing of the house

I was very pleased with overall home buying experience from sales to construction managers explaining everything in detail for the first time home buying experience. As we did the first walk through and now living in the house, there is a lot of spot where the finishing is not satisfactory overall but I will be filling work order soon to fix some of them. I would rate 3/5 for house itself and 4.5/5 for the buying experience.

It seems in comparison to other new builds in the area, the house size/location is competitive but not the materials for the pricepoint. They cut corners in the finished product. I hope the 1-year warranty covers the finishing touches that were not done well. However, they did work with me and made closing dates very very flexible and were extremely communicative.

My only discontentment was, the counter for the kitchen was not same as the bathroom counters and the selection of styles/design were very limited. Therefore, the materials for the bathrooms such as the counters, shower wall boards, faucets, and light switch for the entire house are very basic and plain. I'm not sure if Centex offers a modern interior material as I wasn't asked. But I should have also requested for an upgraded selection of styles and design of materials.

The quality of the house is NOT close to the Centex Home I bought 20 years ago. The walls are not straight, kick boards look like snakes. Even after three walk throughs, I still find walls are not straight up. So I gave up pointing out the problems. I can show you the issues. My address is 5818 Artcurus, San Antonio, TX 78218. I bought this Pulte Home because of the solid house I bought from Centex/Pulte in Retama Park in 2003. The workmanship back then was great, I had no problems at all for the entire 8 years I lived in it. Because of that experience, I decided to buy this house ...
