After 4 months, I'm very pleased with my new home in the East Garrison development in Marina, California. The sales, design, and construction staff were first rate, giving good advice on a variety of issues while encouraging me to put a personal stamp on the home. The final product shows good quality construction with very few issues post-move-in. Those issues were mostly addressed efficiently, although some much faster than others. In cases where the issues involved non-Century external contractors, the response time has been quite slow. The resulting home has been a pleasure to set up and live in, and has proven to be very energy-efficient. Some things that would have improved the experience: 1. Option to pick an electric range. Only natural gas options were offered and that's not OK at a time when electric appliances are clearly the best option. 2. Option to pick an electric flow-activated water heater and possibly furnace, although the local utility might not yet have the capacity for that. 3. For the price I paid for the property and building I guess I should have expected the issues that have come up. First time buying a new home and there were many lessons learned about what to ask and how to manage the buying process. Very stressful.

The sales staff are excellent at providing information and facilitating the loan process once a home is reserved. The construction crews cut corners, used lower quality materials, and had to replace broken or incorrect parts in the house throughout the building process. The items identified during the final walk through were not all completely resolved 90 days after closing. Make sure you understand the homeowner association rules and restrictions.

Overall disappointed in the builder. Poor paint quality in the house; scuffs way too easy. Cabinets have issues and not fixed 6 months after moving in. Bath tub lining has construction residue on it and needs to be replaced. Front steps had to replaced because they were wrong and not to code. Wiring was backwards. Poor quality. Poor design.
