Overall disappointed in the builder. Poor paint quality in the house; scuffs way too easy. Cabinets have issues and not fixed 6 months after moving in. Bath tub lining has construction residue on it and needs to be replaced. Front steps had to replaced because they were wrong and not to code. Wiring was backwards. Poor quality. Poor design.

Everything was going well, until I got into my house. There's MAJOR issues, that I have submitted multiple Warranty Claims for and they have not been addressed or acknowledged. I have been in my house a little over 3 months now and I can understand that they may be backed up, but if I'm continually contacting you, then I should at least get a response. That's called common courtesy and professionalism. I love my house, but the experience so far since I've been in my house is making me consider moving. Century wants everyone to think they care after the sale but the missed deadlines to get problems fixed shows there is a problem somewhere in the management chain. Lower end materials are used in construction. Anything above low end must be added on at a price.

Overpriced and skimped everywhere. What can I say

Mostly everything that’s wrong with this house should have been caught before the workers moved to the next phase of building. It like the person checking behind them just gave the work a check off hoping that the home owner wouldn’t notice anything until the year is up. I have yet for them to fix my air conditioning. They sent a guy out to close a vent on one of the rooms making it hit in that room just so the other room could have airflow. I told them that didn’t work a month later no one has came to fix it and I told them my 75 year old mother sleeps in one of the rooms. The wall in my loft is cracking two months have gone by not addressed. Lumps are underneath the carpet, the lining at the top of my cabinet the wood is damaged the worker just painted over it hoping it would not be noticed. They came and replaced some of the plants by planting a plant that’s already dead. When they send people to your home they talk to you as if it’s the owners fault that they have to come out and repair something that should have been done correctly the first time. The Landscaping Supervisor had me in tears because he said the plants were dying because they were over watered. The guy that came back to plant the plants said the set the system that way so the plants can get enough water. He had to make a excuse for the way Frank had made accusations that it was the cause when I never touched the system since I moved in here. I understand we are human and we all make mistakes, but these homes costs too much money to be thrown together just to make a profit, then later the home owner pays the double price. Why do you pay a person that suppose to check behind them when too many things are going unnoticed. We requested to close two weeks later than Century wanted us to close to accommodate the sale of our other home but they wouldn’t budge. Tbey were fixated on a fast close (3 weeks from when we signed) and they refused to be flexible to do a 5 week close instead of 3. That put us in an extremely difficult financial situation to make it happen.

The flooring in my bathroom is ripped behind the toilet. My carpeting has paint stains from painters and yet to be fixed. My cabinets are peeling The paint on front door is already peeling and I have only been in the home 3 months.

Quality below average, response to issues and follow up update not met expectations

The quality of the build is exceptionally poor. Definitely not the quality expected for what we paid.

Quality is not good at all, everyone has so many issues related to house and internal failures.

Literally no response after key handover. Too bad especially Expressions College Park team. Till date they didn’t came back without issues even after 90 days.

Bought a Century home in California, Quality of the homes built by Century communities is not great, poor design& Architecture, quality issues were observed throughout the house either in the materials used or in the workmanship. The walls are not straight in few areas, the flooring is not installed appropriately, upgrade options quality is poor. Sales team was fine. But the customer service team (to report any issues) is extremely poor, takes many months to fix issues, don’t respond, requires many many follow ups. This is not just my experience but many of my neighbors also had same problems with century communities. If we have a choice, I would not buy a home with Century. ... More

I observed very irresponsibility from Century Communities, I have to chase people to get the updates, it's not customer friendly in terms of upgrades, the company solgan says "You Dream we built" - which is obsolutely is not true, what ever the package they decided we have to go with it, customer care after collecting keys is very pathetic, I never see such a worest customer care any where.

Happy with my sales guy but with rest not happy at all

Through the whole process it seems like everything is rushed through and you end up with/without options you didn’t/did want. We tried to change options a few days after we signed but by then it was “too late.” After you home is built, good luck getting a response back from anyone from the front office of the community. They are not helpful and never respond back to you unless you go to them face-to-face. Beware of the “referral” program. It doesn’t exist unless it is financed into the loan of the people that you referred. Feels like they’re extremely greedy and push you through the door before your ready. ... More

Once we decided to buy the house and signed the papers our primary agent ignored us but other agents stepped in and filled the gap answering questions and addressing our concerns. It has been difficult getting a response from the representative about fixing issues with the construction

Don’t recommend them if you’re a first time homeowner like we are. You will be left lost and confused with no communication or information on who to contact. We bought our home and it was missing certain options that should have been included. Found out after moving in and trying to get settled that things were missing and it has caused more problems since our original customer service rep was less than helpful... when I questioned if items were missing during walkthrough, I was brushed off. It took me a while to complete this survey, since I was hoping Century Community construction manager will complete all things corrected in our pre-closing pending items for builder to fix in a timely manner, but it's NOT the case. It has been a little bit over 3 months since we moved into to our place and items prior closing haven't all fixed yet and still no feedback from construction manager or sales. Unfortunately Century does not have a hot line or a number where you can complain about the the lack of communication from construction manager. I should it pay closer attention to the feedback before we decided to purchased with this builder. After first month no one gives a care. I never received my google hub as promised in my contract. Constantly getting workers ringing my doorbell while I am trying to work instead of getting emails from the community.

If everything is not done to your satisfaction before closing, reschedule another closing. My husband had to make the majority of the repairs to the house that I pointed out at our inspection before closing. We were told to say that everything is fine at our closing (even when it wasn't) as they promised to make repairs after we moved in.

I made a claim in four issues one month a go, they tell me will take from 2 to 4 months for get my claims. Deck never get cure the wood, they said they will coming but so far nothing, once you got the home feel like "I dont need you any more, let me sold more homes let me a lone"

I am pretty disappointed with them overall they could be much much better once you close don’t plan on any issues being addressed

This was our third new build; all 3 homes we picked everything out and went through the whole process. Of the 3 different builders I would rate Century's material quality highest but their customer service the poorest of all 3 experiences. The good: -Quality of the home and well thought out floor plan. -Initial signing and agreement went smoothly. -Flexibility in most of our choices and upgrades with quality brands. You will find out later some neighbors were allowed to do things you asked for but were told not possible. -Design person was fun to work with and had good input. We’ve had no regrets since moving in on our choices. -The local Division President is responsive and gets actual answers when you have to escalate issues. The bad: -Onsite team lacks project management and time management skills. You may close with homes that signed 2 months after you. In month 7 of 8 in our process they started to blame it on the tornado, then Covid when obviously the delays began well before March (we closed in mid-April). The lack of professionalism and transparency was insulting at times. -If you use your own title company, be prepared to be treated poorly by their title company as well as the onsite relator. On closing day our company were not given any keys for us, so I text the onsite relator. I received probably the rudest text ever in a business transaction back stating she had told us exactly what to do and was very frustrated in her response. Keep in mind, she would have told us this during the initial start of the process which 8 months had lapsed from if she did. Also, the title company didn’t end up following the supposed process we were given by both. -Walking into our brand new home the first thing we notice is a smell and found our half bath had been clogged by someone. We contacted the onsite construction manager and asked them to come and plunge it. He said they didn't have a plunger and never sent anyone. So we bought a plunger, and plunged someone else’s mess on our closing day. We had to call their plumbing company the same weekend because when we flushed that toilet the next day, it caused water to flood our walk in shower while I was in it. Turns out, whomever clogged our toilet also tried to flush a rag or two down which finally pushed itself through the tied pipe system. -Our inspector found mold in our crawl space and attic before close. Century sent out a company to treat the wood but after moving in we found standing water in the crawl space. The ground was not graded correctly if at all and the positive drain was not actually catching and draining the water. It took a landscape company to tell the onsite construction manager we were correct and they had to put in a permanent sump-pump. This was after 3 weeks of the onsite construction manager treating us as if we knew nothing and were being over dramatic about the water issues, explaining his own home had similar issues that he’s never dealt with as if that were comforting. They had to treat the mold in the crawl space a second time. Century said they would provide us the documentation from the mold company but never did. -The flashing on our home is very thin metal or aluminum, put up with exposed nails and isn’t holding up to the elements. It was redone several times before we closed due to waves and swelling throughout and was back shortly after moving in. If you walk the neighborhood, all of the homes have this problem so I do not foresee Century doing anything but put up the same material when we submit warranty requests. Concrete siding trim would have made a lot more sense for Tennessee heat. -Upstairs thermostat was installed on the attic space wall. As the day heats up, the thermostat reads on average 7 to 11 degrees higher than it really is causing our AC to try and run nonstop. We purchased thermometers to lay around upstairs and have to check all day and keep adjusting the temp to keep the unit from running continually. We’ve had some high electric bills due to the issue. The AC company came out confirming what we'd already figured out and put up more insulation tape but it didn’t fix the issue. The other option the AC company suggested was moving it to another wall but we'd have to work with Century to send out a sheet rock repair person to patch the hole the AC company would leave. Based on another neighbors experience for sheet rock repair it’s not something we’ll deal with through Century. -The warranty process is not organized. Due to Covid the warranty manager didn't come to our final walk but we also never got a phone call, email, introduction, or any instructions. We figured out how to submit warranty tickets from other neighbors and eventually worked with the warranty managers assistant who is seemingly overwhelmed with our community. In general, it takes a lot of follow up with Century and the contractors to get things repaired. Considering the state of our economy we try to be understanding about it, but they seem to have no organization system to monitor our tickets. Buyers should receive a hard copy of the HOA rules and warranty information before or during close. All in all, we didn’t have a good experience and wouldn’t work with this builder again unless they create an actual process that works and train professionalism to their teams. Love the neighborhood, just not the customer service or lack thereof. Covid can only be an excuse for so long. We couldn’t do an in person walkthrough due to covid, those items still haven’t been fixed. We’ve submitted over 30 other issues and no one has reached us regarding anything. A leaky roof, window, and wall happened when we first moved in which caused my baby to be room less for weeks. Three months in and no responses to warranty issues has me severely concerned on the trustworthyness of this company. They advertise a private lake access however there is no fence so public comes in swarms to include gang members. ... More
