We dealt with Ashley directly from the start and she made things seamless. She made sure when I had concerns they were addressed. I was out of state so that meant so much and eased the stress of building . Overall it has been a great experience.

Thank you Patti, we strive to make your experience the best we can.

We started the process with Becky, advised of our budget, called Premier Lenders while in office for approval odds, we were approved for much more than our budget and Becky started to push more expensive builds, declined and stated our budget again, continued to push the more expensive ones. While going through the process with our realtor communication was subpar as Becky, once we were able to get a hold of her, would often tell us to contact our realtor for the information we were requesting from her, our realtor had already attempted to get the information from Becky with no luck which left us to get the information ourselves, regardless, if a client requests copies of documents, regardless of reasons or who else has copies, they should be provided. She also requested that we sign several addendum's for upgrades we had already signed the addendum's for, even after supplying the appropriate documentation proving such. She still insisted, I requested that if she were to show us were these additional expenses were (specifically outlets) I would be more than happy to sign the document because the original agreed upon number of outlets were already signed and accounted for. We were told not to worry about it further. Chuck was phenomenal through the entire experience, answered questions quickly, resolving issues, taking time to provide updates to extraneous issues outside of the 1 weekly update. The extra time and care he took to ensure that the house we were building would be our home was refreshing. ... More

Thank you for the very detailed purchasing experience. Century can always learn and use this as training to only get better in the future. I'll pass on to the team for further training.

I'm also glad you shared your experience with Chuck. Sounds like he hit the home run and met all your needs. We will for sure let him know what a good job he did for you as well.

We have moved around the country quite a bit. This is the sixth home that we have built, and our first time building with Century. When you build you have to expect timeline changes as well as a few construction glitches. As with all real estate you will benefit from great buyer realtors and professional independent home inspectors. Our experience with Century has been more positive than negative. We would purchase another home with them with them again. ... More

Make sure you know what you want and you ask for it. These are great houses but they are being built quickly and multiple at the same time so things can get missed and the quality can suffer because of the tight schedule. Continue to monitor your house while in your first warranty year. We will probably hire someone to do an inspection around 10 months and make sure we get everything fixed under warranty. ... More

We had a great build experience. However since moving in it’s been the opposite. Three months after closing we have items left from our pre-closing walkthrough incomplete. Buying a home with century community was a good experience. The quality of the home is outstanding, there’s creativity in the model selection and contractors did a good job! The issue that bothers me the most is the choice of grass and how it’s being tendered during the closing process. I only had grasses at the front but weeds on the side and at the back of the building. The closing process was a little stressful which was due to the fact that I was deployed at that time. Quite some reasonable discounts that were offered towards the closing cost which is relatively fair compare to what you could get elsewhere. ... More

The house is great, but we do not have a key to the mailbox so no mail. Some warranty claims have been pend for several weeks. Some builders park in middle of road so difficult to drive on the only road out.

With all this uncertanty we are all going through and trades on orders to stay home (social distancing) we are handcufed. Once all of us get the green light we can schedual you. At that time please go to www.centurycommunities.com web page and fill out a service ticket.

We will talk to the team about the parking in the middle of the street as we can see that being a problem.

This was our third new build; all 3 homes we picked everything out and went through the whole process. Of the 3 different builders I would rate Century's material quality highest but their customer service the poorest of all 3 experiences. The good: -Quality of the home and well thought out floor plan. -Initial signing and agreement went smoothly. -Flexibility in most of our choices and upgrades with quality brands. You will find out later some neighbors were allowed to do things you asked for but were told not possible. -Design person was fun to work with and had good input. We’ve had no regrets since moving in on our choices. -The local Division President is responsive and gets actual answers when you have to escalate issues. The bad: -Onsite team lacks project management and time management skills. You may close with homes that signed 2 months after you. In month 7 of 8 in our process they started to blame it on the tornado, then Covid when obviously the delays began well before March (we closed in mid-April). The lack of professionalism and transparency was insulting at times. -If you use your own title company, be prepared to be treated poorly by their title company as well as the onsite relator. On closing day our company were not given any keys for us, so I text the onsite relator. I received probably the rudest text ever in a business transaction back stating she had told us exactly what to do and was very frustrated in her response. Keep in mind, she would have told us this during the initial start of the process which 8 months had lapsed from if she did. Also, the title company didn’t end up following the supposed process we were given by both. -Walking into our brand new home the first thing we notice is a smell and found our half bath had been clogged by someone. We contacted the onsite construction manager and asked them to come and plunge it. He said they didn't have a plunger and never sent anyone. So we bought a plunger, and plunged someone else’s mess on our closing day. We had to call their plumbing company the same weekend because when we flushed that toilet the next day, it caused water to flood our walk in shower while I was in it. Turns out, whomever clogged our toilet also tried to flush a rag or two down which finally pushed itself through the tied pipe system. -Our inspector found mold in our crawl space and attic before close. Century sent out a company to treat the wood but after moving in we found standing water in the crawl space. The ground was not graded correctly if at all and the positive drain was not actually catching and draining the water. It took a landscape company to tell the onsite construction manager we were correct and they had to put in a permanent sump-pump. This was after 3 weeks of the onsite construction manager treating us as if we knew nothing and were being over dramatic about the water issues, explaining his own home had similar issues that he’s never dealt with as if that were comforting. They had to treat the mold in the crawl space a second time. Century said they would provide us the documentation from the mold company but never did. -The flashing on our home is very thin metal or aluminum, put up with exposed nails and isn’t holding up to the elements. It was redone several times before we closed due to waves and swelling throughout and was back shortly after moving in. If you walk the neighborhood, all of the homes have this problem so I do not foresee Century doing anything but put up the same material when we submit warranty requests. Concrete siding trim would have made a lot more sense for Tennessee heat. -Upstairs thermostat was installed on the attic space wall. As the day heats up, the thermostat reads on average 7 to 11 degrees higher than it really is causing our AC to try and run nonstop. We purchased thermometers to lay around upstairs and have to check all day and keep adjusting the temp to keep the unit from running continually. We’ve had some high electric bills due to the issue. The AC company came out confirming what we'd already figured out and put up more insulation tape but it didn’t fix the issue. The other option the AC company suggested was moving it to another wall but we'd have to work with Century to send out a sheet rock repair person to patch the hole the AC company would leave. Based on another neighbors experience for sheet rock repair it’s not something we’ll deal with through Century. -The warranty process is not organized. Due to Covid the warranty manager didn't come to our final walk but we also never got a phone call, email, introduction, or any instructions. We figured out how to submit warranty tickets from other neighbors and eventually worked with the warranty managers assistant who is seemingly overwhelmed with our community. In general, it takes a lot of follow up with Century and the contractors to get things repaired. Considering the state of our economy we try to be understanding about it, but they seem to have no organization system to monitor our tickets. Buyers should receive a hard copy of the HOA rules and warranty information before or during close. All in all, we didn’t have a good experience and wouldn’t work with this builder again unless they create an actual process that works and train professionalism to their teams. The quality is mostly there in the home, just not the experience. ... More

Century Communities responded:
Jeanett- thank you for your detailed candid experience. We have forwarded this to the team leadership in your state to review and get back to us.

We were told a lot of things, that made us purchase. When it came time for all those things to happen, it was apology after apology. They fired our agent mid buying, never told us until we had a question to ask, and couldn’t get a hold of her. They used her as an excuse for the all ‘misinformation’. I still have never had a warranty walk through or explanation. I still have things they said ‘we will fix after closing’ that aren’t three months later. I love my home, but the buying, building, and post closing were all horrible experiences I feel because the lack of leadership and consistency here at Davenport and the salesmanship tactics to get you to buy. ... We were never supplied air filters for our house. Our property line has moved since putting in a new house next door. Still have an electric issue in our guest bathroom. Had an exposed wire in master bedroom that tripped and burnt out the fan. Our back door was dented they replaced it but never replaced the framing due to water damage and breaking the frame when replacing the door so now it doesn’t lock except for the doorknob. Never finished the sod in our yard plus with a new house next door one of the workers drove through it. Painters missed several spots after coming out but the only paint if there is blue tape. Still haven’t replaced our master shower because it has cuts in the fiberglass on all of the walls. Our master tub still has cuts in the drywall exposed above it. Our master bathroom door doesn’t shut all the way and rubs the paint off the frame. Don’t expect stainless steel appliances because they give you whatever their supplier has on hand. We were shown one thing and had something different delivered. Grading issues after water run off in the side and backyard. We’ve had two rounds of a ant infestation since being in the house in our master bedroom. They are entering from the master bathroom door framing that is not solid to the ground. Also our carpet is coming up in that same area. Our master bedroom ceiling fan still roars if left on high. The guy that came to replace the ceiling fan told us it was a low quality fan but our living room fan does not make the roaring noise. Our AC wasn’t hooked up correctly when moving in one of the electric people caught it when we had them out for our lights flickering in our house because of our washer and dryer would cause it. All the screens on the windows were installed incorrectly and were rattling in the windows. The tile in the kitchen are two different colors and refused to replace it because they blamed the LED lighting causing it. The lock on the door going out to the garage has never locked since moving in. We still had exposed holes in dry wall around the light fixtures. ... More

From start to...well it’s almost four months since close and we aren’t done yet so I can’t say to finish, it has been poor communication and quality. The only saving grace to my blood pressure has been Lisa and Matt. John was very friendly as well. The oversight in building some of these houses has been non-existent. our first lot was broken into and flooded missed the close date they put us in a different home in a very timely manner. Handles on drawers were broken walls and base boards had waves celing sheetrock wavey as well The tile in the master bathroom still has the spacers imstalled that were just cut off insted of being removed and grouted.
