Sacrificing Quantity for Quality

While I love my new home, due to the number of issues I’ve heard about from my neighbors since moving here, I am concerned that Pulte is trying to build too many homes too fast in Del Webb Nexton which is resulting in a loss of quality for quantity.

We had a home inspection done two days after we moved in by an independent agent. We would highly recommend any new buyer to do so. The finish elements done by the trades were definitely not ‘high end’ but probably typical with tract home builders. The charges for upgrades were high enough to incentivize us to do some upgrades on our own after moving in. Glad we did. Even though we had built four homes previously and had a good idea of what we would want in a home, the Design Center was challenging on many levels. Fortunately the community and activities are great, which were the main reasons ...

This is the second Del Webb home we have owned. The first was in California. Overall, the quality of the homes is at a very high level. However, with our new home, a few things seem sub-standard for Del Webb quality. One is the landscaping in the front . Some homes were "lucky" enough to get 3 palm trees (we were given no choices). Some of us got none. Instead we got little scrubby trees and shrubs with no color in the design. UGLY!! Very inconsistent quality. Many neighbors plan to install all new trees and plants. The second issue is the quality of the wall paint inside the home. We have ...

Structural quality is very basic. Architectural interior are average, plumbing fixtures and shower are average quality, carpets are lower quality and are being replaced, outside water displacement is marginal and erosion control is marginal to poor. Otherwise we hope that we will enjoy the house.

Thought this would be a better product based on what we have heard. Just another penny pinching mass built home. Small details that would not cost much to include ignored. Pretty low grade materials. Walls aren't even square. Just moving in and already kind of disappointed.

Repairs have been slow, if at all at this point. Still waiting on repairs to be perform. Some construction is very good but other installations are poorly done (shade installed 8 inches short, kitchen shelves that collapse).

The construction process and end product is sloppy. Messy chaulking, splattered paint, chipped/stained concrete, crooked knobs/tile, nicked counters/doors/trim, sod not rolled and left with large gaps, electric outlets not at same level/crooked, light switches poorly placed. Solid construction but all the nice detailed work is missing. Great community though.

I’ve been in my Castle Rock for one month. Very happy to be here. Very happy with my home but there is some careless workmanship that is being addressed. Not a lot of problems and I hope it stays that way. Middle of the road building for high prices. Cut in shower pan, two broken soap dishes in showers, concrete cracks.. Neighborhood is friendly and I’m happy to be in a 55 community!

Painters were extremely sloppy - there is paint dripped everywhere! There is also grout on the tile floors which is very difficult to remove. The quality of the paint isn't great - they will not let you buy your own paint for them to use.

Make sure you go through the home, during walk through, and mark anything that looks awry to you. Don’t forget to check the light fixtures. Make sure any flaws are given to the builder’s representative. I have found anything under warranty, which is not an emergency, they want you to fix yourself, before they respond. After response, you will have to wait for weeks before fixed. My walk through was 2 months ago and nothing has been corrected as yet.

We found that Quality was not as important as selling home and constructing them fast with poor quality and workmanship nothing was done paying attention to detail. Using damaged products and trying to pass them off as new . Painters that could not take the time to take the electric plates off just painting around them and leaving the plate with paint on all the edges...Plumbers not finishing there work in bathroom sinks leaving fittings leaking and faucet knobs lose and turning. Leaving backsplash tiles cut and the edges like razor blades....Doors hung that would pop open when you close ...

We are on our 4th refrigerator (1st one was wrong model, next 2 were damaged, 4th we’ve kept). Our major problem is we have no Air Conditioning in the front half of our home!! This was noticed before we moved in (less than 6 weeks ago) - HVAC people have been out 4 times and have been unable to resolve the problem - although they acknowledge there is no air coming out of the vents. Lead tech is scheduled to come tomorrow to inspect the problem. At present, our guests staying in the front bedroom are in a Hot Zone - same with the bathroom, study and entryway. Very frustrated with the lack ...
