This is our second Highland Home and we love it as much as the first home! Our first Highland home was in an amazing, family oriented neighborhood (20 years later people still want a home in the Trails) and Sandbrock Ranch, even in its beginning stage has quickly become a very warm, family & friend oriented subdivision! Highland doesn't just build houses, they create amazing communities that are full of heart and beauty. There is no phase when the staff is not communicating or open & transparent, that includes the purchase phase, construction phase, finance phase & finally the move- in phase. Wonderful people and amazing home. Everything was handled so professionally and so easily. They took care of everything.

Wife and I looked at nearly all the home builders in Melissa and McKinney area. Highland homes are a bit pricier than other home builder but you know the phrase: “you get what you pay for”. A few of my friends who just had their home built, were amazed how our house layout and the quality of materials.

This is my second Highland Home to build. Very pleased throughout the entire process. I definitely recommend building with this great company.

What we envisioned vs what occurred was extremely disappointing and VERY UPSETTING. Our regional manager Jeff did try to do damage control, but it was too late. I’d be happy to speak further with your CEO’s Rod/Jean Ann or your QA team.

I have worked with several builders over the years, and none of them come close to Highland Homes. Their staff from showing to contract to design center to building to closing to after-sale checkup are second to none! For the first time in my life, building a new home was a pleasurable experience. I could not recommend their build quality, staff professionalism, and "make it right" attitude any more than this.

Great sales counselor and overall experience.

From start to finish, there was nothing that could go right for our build. From permitting issues for the the Sri way to having to redesign the driveway. Our 3rd party inspector found several issues with the proper installation of all the anchor bolts throughout the entire frame. All the bathroom cabinets and kitchen cabinets were heavily damaged BUT were still installed. Our building construction manager was informed about the cabinets but was told by the cabinet company they they would not be replaced only repaired. At this point I went to highland homes social media page and expressed my disappointment with the cabinets and the refusal to have them replaced. At the point I got a phone call from highlands regional manager who wanted to meet in person at the home to see the damages. He then expressed his apologies and said that was not to “Highland standard “ he made a call and the very next day all the cabinets were replaced with new undamaged cabinets. By this time we had Laos faith and trust in our building manager and his crews so we decided to show up unannounced to do walk throughs and this is when we found that all the paint and finish work was not up to “Highland standard “. The texture on the walls didn’t match and had to be done 3 time before it finally matched. Master bathroom tiles are loosing grout and the shoulder leaks. The bathroom window leaked for almost 2 weeks before it was resealed. We have grout in kitchen backsplash that is now cracking and separating. And now we noticed that anytime the furnace or ac is on, all the lights in the home flicker constantly.. so here goes another work order and letting more people into my home .. never ending bad dream.... ... The quality of the home stands out and when we get visitors they love the house.

Dean was great to work with! You could tell he wanted to make the deal work because he recognized our family needs. Our realtor and Dean came together and the result is that we are in a great home. My only negative comment was (still is) the work was messy, meaning drips of paint, sheetrock mud in the cracks of the floors and mild scratches on things like the counters/windows. But again overall we are happy with the home and have no doubt that Highland will address our concerns without any pushback. Thanks again to Cary (our realtor) and Dean for working hard to find the middle ground.

I was disappointed that I was not told about the initial delay in the starting process of building my home. I was very impressed with James. He was thorough in explaining the time line of the building Process. He responded In a timely manner to questions & concerns I had. A request for certain paper work required for my loan was requested & sent several times.

1. Buyer selections and design gallery experience was horrible. Samples were extremely small. Everything cost "extra", there was no cost breakdown to compare the cost of what was included in the contract vs. the "extra" costs. 2. Misleading advertisement of what was included in the purchase of the home. Some items were "discontinued" after purchase. Had to fight to receive a credit that was not commensurate to the item that was "deleted". 3. Quality of work was horrible. As home buyer, we had to point out things that they did not install, including missing an entire bathroom under slab plumbing. Some items caught in time to eliminate demolition and repair of work completed. 4. Initial builder (superintendent) was extremely rude and somewhat confrontational. The replacement builder was very kind and helpful, however the post builder is as rude as the initial. 5. Quality of work is below what should be expected for a house costing almost 1/2 million. It took a while to have plumbing issue resolved. Quality is not up to standards, I would expect, as corners were cut. Tile in downstairs bathroom is cracked and hidden in corner, wall to upstairs was poorly batched and noticeable, cheap paint throughout house.

There needs to be more communication with the trades when constructing the homes. Quality and workmanship seem to suffer and it creates unnecessary construction rework. Relator representing Highland needs to follow through in a timely fashion on promises deliverables to Highland customers. For the price it's a good value. If you're building from the ground up, keep in touch with the construction manager and make on site visits to check progress.

Every highland representative was very friendly, trustworthy and easy to deal with. The materials used around the house are top notch, with only a couple issues primarily related to painters not being careful! As with any new house, a few issues came up after living in it for a few weeks, Highland's builder was extremely responsive and always willing to help out, I do feel Highland has my back if anything major were to happen.

Highland Homes provided great service during and after the sale. The usual issues that arise in a new home build were addressed promptly. Mostly the quality of people we worked with we’re just excellent. Would certainly recommend to a friend.

Even though this review is coming out late, I must say highlandhomes Truly proved us wrong. The quality of service they put in was exceptional and on time. I would highly recommend.

The house we purchased was a very good value and priced right for what all was included. The craftsmanship and attention to detail was impressive as our home feels complete. I enjoyed working with Lindsey from Highland homes. She was very professional and was always available to answer any questions we had.

Highland Floor Plans are amazing! That being said the experience and attention to detail in workmanship was not as expected. Small things here and there to be finished is to be expected after closing on new construction. Having to call back because workmanship is sloppy should not happen. Pointing out issue with work performed and being told it will be fixed because I don't like it when in actuality the work should be re-accomplished because it was poorly done is ridiculous. That doesn't include the design process where change orders are lost or not submitted. This is not what we expected at close to $600K price point in a beautiful community. ... More

Overall great experience

We appreciate the professionalism, patience and immediate attention to any issues we raised. We are enjoying our beautiful home and we are forever grateful to team highland homes for making this a beautiful reality. Thank you.

We closed almost two months ago and they are still working on our house. I feel the work has been sloppy and not well done. It looks like I am fixing a used home instead of moving into a new home! I would not buy from them again! My mistake was closing before the house was completely finished!!! The price we paid does not reflect the quality of the home. We are very disappointed!

since Highland is moving out of this community least care was taken to the customers. Construction manager feels customers are slaves for him. How many times we need to follow up to get the issues resolved. We bought a brand new home so that , there no issues and we are good at least for 2 years. Till date in last 45 days, i had issues with my Air conditioner and roof. I don't know what all are pending. Had faith in highland homes till i bought this home. But now its a question mark.
