We started the process with highland at the recommendation of family that was also building. They have incredible floor plans and finishes and we were stoked to Build. Throughout the process they kept us in the loop and helped us to make our home ours, tweaking little things here and there to really make it what we wanted. The speed was unbelievable, from ground break to move in was 3 months. Move in was on time and as promised and we are in love with our new house. Follow ups and normal repairs have been awesome.

Highland Homes built new a beautiful home that I know and can see is superior quality. For a first time home buyer, they make it so easy and fun!

They took great care of us and handled some small issues very quickly.

Very good

Not covering flooring after installed caused some minor damage. Paint overspray, muddy shoes on carpets, some small paint drops on carpet. Very minor, but many subs did not remove shoes even though there was sign on door. Also, better communication on what we could have expected from pavers on back patio. They were not what we anticipated. We should have asked to see example. All in all, Garrett was very responsive to any and all concerns we had, and we were very happy with Garrett as our builder.

Our entire process with Highland has been a great experience from our first meet with Amy and Larry in sales through the building process with Brady. We felt we were in good hands, especially since we have never built a home before. All of our questions were answered in a timely manner and we were updated weekly about the progress of our home. My sister recently built a new home in Texas too and unfortunately did not have the same positive experience we did. They were impressed with the quality of some of our standard features and fixtures. We could not be happier with our beautiful new home and would definitely recommend Highland Homes to anyone thinking about building. ... More

You'll see similar floor plans with other builders, but you won't see the same quality in materials.

Highland was great to work with. Construction was efficiently managed and never in disarray. All Highland personnel worked to get questions answered and kept in contact with us. We will use Highland again should we decide to build another home.

Timing was great. There were several small items that were not complete at closing that we are still waiting on: peep hole, paint touch up, etc. While we appreciate the design center not up selling, there are a few things we would have gladly added: too coat of paint to the walls. We are quite disappointed in the quality of the paint/ texture. It is impossible to clean without scratching the paint or chipping the texture. We have never experienced this and feel it is a big miss from the designers. We would also have put a top coat on our floors if we had known the option was there. We have small dogs that escape the fence often. We are in the process of adding additional fencing to keep them in and safe. ... More

Finish work--paint, drywall and tile--could have been much better. There are multiple corners of walls/bottom trim that are not square and/or even. Highland Homes is correcting all of the issues however, would have rather had the finish work completed properly the first time. I am most pleased with the windows and doors installation. The wooden floors which we chose (which covers most of the downstairs) was installed properly and looks great. And I feel that Highland Homes does an excellent job with installation and design of the Trane Heating and Air Conditioning system--very efficient and very well balanced. Follow up from contractors/sub contractors has been prompt and professional. Our Highland Homes Construction Manager was attentive to our requests and kept us engaged and informed. Maybe expectations were too high. But for the amount of money spent on this house, I would have expected a MUCH higher level of craftsmanship in details. Base materials that the builder uses are lower quality (cheap doors, basic light fixtures, flimsy wood flooring, counter materials in kitchen and bathroom, little toilets, light switch locations, etc.). Maybe the "area" commanded such a price, but the end product was mildly disappointing. By the end, it was too late to correct it all. The construction manager was responsive during final walk through but not entirely reactive to make corrections. There was only so much anyone could do at that point without making the product worse. By the end you are committed, your heart is set on the location, and your mind is excited for a new home. Turning back is nearly impossible. Short of a daily inspection of contractors, how can one possibly keep up with and correct issues in real time. Everyday I find things in the house that are disappointing. Can't go wrong buying a Highland Home. Got our money's worth on an all brick house. Highland has a great reputation and I experienced excellent service from the sales staff and the project manager.

It was a smooth process from the day we decided to buy until the day we got the possession of our new home. So far we have called for one issue which has not been addressed by the corporate office in spite of a few calls. Didn’t expect that hence Very disappointed.

Don was great to work with. If he told us something then he would try his best to make it happen. While I know the sub contractors are not always reliable, Don followed up to make sure they completed what needs to be done.

overall good quality of house, but expensive than other competitor builder (M.I home and some other builders. not clear why it should be expensive than competitor. I see lots of little minor thing not done properly. a little poor in finishing work.

This is our second Highland Homes new build (the first was in 2012 in The Tribute.) The experience this time around was not at all the same. Overall, we like our house but only because we had to nitpick and complain about things from the day the foundation was poured. Nearly every surface in our house had an issue that we had to manage the builder on. We did have some resolution on certain issues, but overall, the quality of this build and the experience was not what we envisioned. We will probably build another house again in the next few years and will most likely not consider Highland. Also, we are very disappointed that even after our negative survey we filled out at closing to discuss these issues (closing date was October 4) not one person from the Highland Homes corporate sales office has reached out to us for feedback. They clearly do not care or value the information on these surveys. ... More

Buying a house from Highland has been a great experience. Very smooth, and they have stood behind their quality and made a few small things right without delay. I don’t anticipate buying another house, but if I did, I would sure buy from Highland again.

Builder warranty is great. They address any issues you have in timely manner. I would recommend the builder to my family and friends. Pleased with the work ethic and dedication of the entire team (sales rep and project manager).
