It’s my fault that I was in rush buying a home and therefore I end up buying a home with many faults. Jonathon ( manager) is a great guy and very helpful every situation but the house itself has many defects such as pendent lights, back porch concrete, interior walls r not straight , kitchen sink , breakers r Turing off itself quite often and many more. They replaced my pendent lights at least 5 times but still couldn’t get it right and I was lied about the situation. We had numerous issues with Highland. Early on in the build, our 1st Superintendent went out on leave for 3 months and we were never notified. The absence of a Superintendent led to major delays of scheduling and no quality control oversight of the work being done. Because nobody was in charge of the build I hired an independent inspector, pre sheet rock, that identified 50+ items that needed to be corrected. Highland did make good correcting the identified items, but at the cost of significant delays. We also had a bad experience with our 2nd Superintendent. He lacked in communication, professionalism, and honesty. He provided no oversight while work was being done, which led to constant rework and delays. Our 2nd independent inspection identified 40+ items Highland corrected. Over the course of the build we were given 5 different close dates that resulted in a 3 month delay from our original close date. After we moved in a Highland representative stopped by the house as a follow up. I gave him a list of 6 items that needed to be corrected. It took 4 weeks for Highland to schedule the electrician to come out to my house. I have my door scheduled next week to be looked at, but I have not heard anything else on the remaining items. Buying a Highland Home was painful. Through my realtor I expressed my concerns to highlands leadership team, but I was never contacted by anyone other than a supervisor. ... More

I've had experience with production and custom builders in the past and Highland rates as low as possible.

Responsiveness to work orders is poor.

Very disappointed. Was encouraged to buy a Highland home for the quality and their workmanship reputation but this is not what I have experienced. The quality of products used is of a very low grade material, the wood trim in the house has very noticeable blemishes, knots and bumps and is very rough causing the paint to constantly flake off. The kitchen sink immediately rusted, it was replaced promptly but it is still a low grade quality stainless so it stains and spots up and if a pan is set in it for a minute it rust the sink, I have never had any of my stainless steel sinks do this. The floors look like a wash board, very uneven they look terrible also they still have glue on them that they have not been able to get off after three attempts. I was told by Highland you cant get concrete even and you can only smooth out so much of an area with the human arm span??? Really this is insulting to my intelligence, I have had tile and wood floors installed in my previous homes and it did not look like this, there are products to prevent this when done properly. The ceiling and walls show defects badly the ceilings have waves this is caused when the sheet rock is not done properly. Many issues have been fixed like one of many the tile work that had been broken on installation where they just grouted between the break instead of replacing. The concrete work at the front entrance and the patio is terrible the entrance was refinished twice but still looks awful so with all this I worry now about the integrity of the slab. When I went to clean out the windows out I found two fly's that were in there when they painted and they just painted over the top of the fly's. Clearly the contractors they use are low grade as well and they obviously don't care and no one from Highland cares either or supervises these contractors. The blinds they installed are the cheapest possible, they want stay in place. I have no confidence in the quality, stability and integrity of this home I feel like that with this many things wrong that we have seen and are still finding, how many major things are wrong that we cannot see and have not come to light yet and will fall apart after the warranty is out and before they should. It is so disappointing and has stressed me out so much and has made it impossible for me to enjoy my new home. I think the amount of money paid for this home warrants better products and workmanship this was not a low end home. I have owned several homes and this is the worst conditions and experience I have ever incurred. I would welcome and challenge someone from the Corporate Highland homes office to come see my house, I would love to hear their opinion after they have walked through this house. I don't know if something has happened with Highland that has driven the quality and workmanship to go down hill or maybe just an initiative to cut cost to make more money at the home owners expense or the people just do not care anymore. Where is quality control? At this point I would say be very cautious if you are considering a Highland home. The guys at the local field office I have dealt with have been responsive but this does not make up for the issues that I have found. This is not the way I planned on starting retirement I thought I was securing my future with a Highland home. Now I wonder if I have invested poorly and possibly jeopardized my future stability. ... Low quality materials and not clear plan picture manager doesn't know details about plan hights and all, felt very bad experience after spending 500k, nobody comes for proper service after moving and payment completed

They do not respond to customer complaints! My house had several issues, plumbing( leaking pipes, grout cracks in shower, and around primary tub, they damaged my guest tub and tried to patch it up thinking that I would not notice. Drywall unleveled through out the house, driveway damaged, gate handle bent, kitchen cabinet under stove does not open. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets damaged!!! Several windows damaged, sensors fell off the windows. I could go on but I am so frustrated. All of this is as before I closed. They were supposed to fix the items. Kept getting the run around from the project manager!!! Lies basically!!! We will take care of it. Set up a several dates for availability and no response! Only when they want to be available? The is no miscommunication, just lack of accountability from the builder. Yesterday my family member was at the house all day and only the grout guy showed up. The cabinet, paint, tub guy to fix the tub…concrete guy for the driveway. It’s been two months. I just made the first payment on a lemon! I have made several complaints. I bought new home from Highland. I got new home inspection which revealed to many issues. One cracked living room window, 3 heat resistance destroyed living room windows because of Argon gas loss. Every tone of black with Kitchen cabinets, non-working drawers, chips etc. Not polished properly kitchen countertop. No proper slope for garden and all rain water sits in the center of it. Non-working vents on bathroom. Very noisy fan hood in kitchen. Very noisy refrigerator. Cracking garage door which inside white outside dark grey, painted by Highland which causes blown fuse to many times. Garage door technician came and told me because of Highland painted the outside of garage door instead of ordering them on the correct color, paint sticks between parts and he removed some of the paint. Now I can see white lines between dark grey plates from outside. Some of these problem was fixed but I still have cracking garage door problem and noisy vent hood problem although I followed Highland team to many times. I am not sure how the home builder which is known one of the best of country provides so low quality control in their product before delivering to customer. Bought a move-in ready home and remote closing (lived out of state). Have a few issues in the home and the construction manager (CM) is not responsive. For example, the screws on the garage door lever/arm fall apart (Yes, in a brand new house!!) and the lever got disengaged from the rails. CM didn't take it seriously for quality of the product that was delivered and he refused to cover it under warranty. Moved-in late January and still some of the issues in the house have not been fixed. Not a great expereince and we couldn't justify the premium paid to purchase a home from Highland!!

Such a shame. Our first home in Texas was a Highland Home so when we decided to downsize to a townhome we purchased a Highland Home. This was a disastrous mistake!!! Everything from the salesperson to building team has been negative. I do not want to ramble on an on because I definitely could with all of bad experiences. I will just say this. The materials and the craftsmanship are TERRIBLE. Its a battle to fix these things and I don't think it will ever be as it should be. I'm very sorry we closed on this townhome. We should have not moved forward and lost our deposit.

I wish I had good things to say about my home. I was incredibly invested, spent quite literally hundreds of hours doing research, reading contracts, working with my builder on the home, and trying to build relationships with the Highland team. I've never felt like my partner in any project put forward so little effort as Highland did across the board. I was talked down to by my sales person, ignored by my design center specialist, and lied to by my construction manager. On top of all of that, once I left reviews and messages for management, I never got a call back to address any concerns I had. From my experience (first and the LAST) with Highland homes is that they used very very cheep materials. we moved in little over a month now, the master bedroom closet where we hang clothes fell off with the metal bar, on the other side the brackets bending down and the wood piece coming off the wall. both garage doors making scary noise when goes up. kitchen entry door from garage always hits the pantry doors, also highland painted the door hinges. first of all I believe using dead cheep materials and poor supervision caused these issues,

Do your research regarding EVERY home builder, the craftsmanship, the integrity, the build and do not just go off beautiful model homes or beautiful, new communities. Do your research on WHO you can expect living in a brand new area, try to avoid sales talk at all times and be your own salesperson / get a team you personally trust who will have your best interest at heart. Build with a company who builds fairly, prices fairly even if it is more than you want it to be, but focus on all the small details, quality, the different crews and how they treat your property, and any and all members who you have to deal with along the way making sure you state your requirements and expectations. Don't let too much time go by wasted without a lack of responses, handing things poorly with communication, quality, and dealing with non-English speaking individuals who will only make it stressful for you and the environment. Document everything, take pictures of everything, and if your budget is being overstretched, consider going with another reputable, high-quality, more designer so you can actually get what you want and what you expected from the beginning. LOCATION and area is everything, and who is all going to live in your community. Keeping in mind HOA will not do much nor help much at all even though you pay them each month - they are only there to ensure the community looks pretty, stays uniformed and has events to celebrate. ... The experience was horrible! The quality and lack of carelessness has been the worst. I have bought new houses before and have never experienced this lack quality.

Wish I could say better things - but very disappointed overall.

It has been a very disappointing experience. Many issues to fix with the house after moving in. Very poor paint job in some of the rooms, issues with plumbing, the dishwasher wasn't installed properly and leaked on to the floor. The flooring needed replacing after this, but 6 weeks later it still hasn't happened. A light fixture in the kitchen has been broken for 4 months. No replacement in sight. I now dislike my home because of the experience the builder has given me.

I recently purchased a new property from Highland Homes, and I must say, the experience has been extremely disappointing. Here's why: 1. Things not completed on time. Poor workmanship. Poor delivery. Poor quality of craftsmanship. Poor commitment to homeowner! No ETA. After 3 months into the home, still have so many issue pending. You have forced me to decide that I don't want to live in this house for longer than I have to. No one even thinks like that for a rental home.

We had great expectations when we initially signed in for Highland homes at Lakewood at Brookhollow, prosper but later our experience with the sales and the builder turned to be the worst. It is unfortunate even after paying such a hefty price for the new home by Highland we had to face such an ordeal and still struggling to get many issues fixed. All the work is contracted and there is no proper inspection of the work post completion by the contractor. House was handed to us with many pending issues. The builder took advantage of the fact that we were not in a position to reschedule the closing and left many open items unaddressed. No proper response even after repeated follow up. No proper information provided. Pragmatic living conditions not taken into consideration. Many upgrades were ignored and we had to specifically point out and get the rework done. I would never buy a Highland home again and would recommend anyone buying a new home to find another builder. The sales team is unresponsive, the Highland lending team (which they incentivize you to use) is incompetent, and the quality of work for the actual house is far less quality than you would expect for paying such a high price. We’ve had multiple things wrong with the house, damage to our personal property, and 2 months in to purchasing the house we still have so many things to fix. I wish we never bought a home from Highland and I will never again.

Highland Homes are beautiful but they seem to lack the quality a home at this price point deserves. From small things like caulking, cabinets, landscaping and heating and cooling. The buyer really has to pay attention to the whole home. I feel like I needed an inspector with me as I went thru the home. Highland has a great reputation but the experience was a major let down. There should be a quality manager that ensures the workmanship meets Highland Homes standards and reputation.

Highland homes used cheap third party companies to do their work like plumbing etc. it’s all lazy work and we found many issues after we moved into the new house. They didnot fix any issues that we have raised . They just say yes to your request and will not implement them later. Totally waste of money and we are extremely disappointed with the purchase. Please stay away from highland homes even when you are getting a better price because you will have to pay for repairs due to cheap quality
