I had a very bad experience with Highland Homes. I moved in to new built house and on day one, water leakage issues in two bathrooms and one bathroom is clogged with water. Drywall are very uneven. I trusted Highland Homes for Quality and didn't do any inspection before moving to the home, but later realized, it was a mistake. I started realizing the construction quality is really bad. I hope that will realize and do a self inspection before handing over the home to the buyer.

The Highland sales team was very attentive. We never 2nd guessed our choice to hire them or to purchase their product. The building process was 90% smooth, and where we ran into a slowdown, it was resolved as soon as the vendor made the right product available. Although he was VERY busy, our building coordinator made time for us as best he could. We never felt neglected. When building this many homes, there are certain to be minor workmanship issues, but we have 12 months to work those out!! Happy with Highland!

After Sales service is not up to expectations by any means and i hate to record tons of claims for warranty

We would definitely use Jacob again. Very prompt with return questions and progress with the home. Very personable.

The actual buying process was ridiculous. The sales agent was not informed, and what’s worse didn’t appear to care if she didn’t have correct, timely or complete information. The home design is lovely. The light, the layout and the function is beautiful. If there was less upper loft area, which could be dedicated to larger second bedrooms, the plan would be fantastic. The workmanship behind the walls seems to be competent. The finish work is bad, among the worst I’ve seen. Looking at the details of finish, you would think the subcontractors do not care about their work. Additionally, they do little to protect their, or others, work, so many parts need to be replaced or redone. Having said that, the responsiveness of the warranty team has been terrific, thus far. We may not always agree about things that need to be addressed, but they are always courteous and show care. Hopefully that will continue as we move forward. They have turned a rather sour process into a positive relationship. ... More

We love our new Highland Home. We have had a few issues which is normal when purchasing a new home, but Doug and Rikki at Highland have been wonderful about getting things taken care of and making sure we are happy. I would definitely recommend Highland Home to prospective buyers.

Danny was on top of my build the entire time, providing updates and setting realistic expectations.

I was a first time home buyer. For the most part things went smoothly. I feel the sales department was pushy at the beginning. They also didn’t communicate very well through the entire process, there was little to no reach out by them. The home was done but many things had to be touched up after we moved in.

It was great to work with great, caring people at Highland Homes. We will buy again in the future from Highland Homes here in Texas!

Great communication, trustworthy and great price/value relationship

The home buying process was a little overwhelming but we are loving our new home now that it’s over. We live in a neighborhood with several builders and Highland homes is what we always hear people recommend. In our experience they were professional, used good materials and worked on some great finishes. The layout is extremely convenient and many details within the home such as electric, piping, storage, etc, were just planned in an efficient manner, they didn’t ask us and we didn’t think of those but now that we have the home is clear they knew what they were doing. Due to supply chain issues they did have to replace some of our options, but for the most part they stayed true to the items and styles we picked when designing the house. Price wise it falls more on the higher end and within our neighborhood we’ve seen some beautiful houses from other builders at much more affordable price. The Process was easy from start to finish. They built us a great, quality home. Overall, they were very accommodating for our needs. They made it clear that some things were impossible due to supply chain issues, but they always seemed to make something work for us. I would absolutely purchase another one in the future if we had to relocate.

Materials used are great. People working at HIGHLAND are very respectful and responsive. Quality of workmanship is below average. Not sure if this is related to Pandemic labor shortage. Overall a good experience buying and closing, except workmanship is not upto the mark.

Sales co-ordination was great. Construction timelines and updated were perfect to begin with. Halfway thru, I had to check on the progress almost every week and point out issues. Final walk was rushed enough, hours before closing and with pending works. We moved into our house end of June 2022 and still dealing with issues, which should have never occurred or should have been fixed by construction manager well before closing. After moving in, I got to know almost half the workmen team to fix issues. To name a few - cabinets, counter tops, doors/trims, sheetrock, vent team, electrical, appliances and painters. Although highland may have a stunning plot plan the management of contractor craftsmanship and quality is severely lacking. Aside from their plot plan there is absolutely no difference in this builder from any other cookie cutter neighborhood home. It’s clear to see that each contractor has less respect for the home than the last. Spending half a million dollars on a home should yield more quality and excitement when moving in. Our blue tape walk items are still outstanding 2+ months later. The longer we live in the home the more we are blown away by lack of craftsmanship, quality and the amount of corners cut to “complete” the home. You should NOT have to deep clean construction mess after closing as the homeowner nor should you have to waste your time with the quick patch/bandaid jobs for items that have no reason to be left as outstanding. I’ve researched Highland Homes before I moved to Texas and found this company is buy far the best builder. My concern is the sub-contractors and following up with the quality of their work. Every phase should be checked and the homeowner should get weekly reports or visits if possible to their home. I have a few concerns that is being addressed immediately by Highland Homes warranty, but these noticeable concerns should have been fixed by your construction manager by doing his/her due diligence for the best builder in this state of Texas. I recommend Highland Homes to a friend of mind and they’re having a home built in San Antonio, Texas as I write this review. There completion date is February 2023. The initial experience with HH was fantastic. Sales lady is an amazing person overall and was very helpful throughout the process. The second superintendent assigned to my house was easy to work with as well, but that's about where the positives end. My house was rushed (finished 2 months "ahead of schedule") and it showed. Poor painting, very poor trim work, and floors not adequately protected while contractors still in the house leading to cosmetic issues. The grass was laid prematurely causing uneven ground and poor drainage, lots of trash left on the property after "completion", and just overall a lack of attention to detail. The superintendent assigned to my house 4 days before closing was stuck with a pile of junk and desperately rushed to fix the issues. I had to do the final walk through after I closed and all of the issues weren't resolved until 5-6 weeks after I moved in. I take responsibility for not pushing back on the close date given the state of the house, but I was continually promised it would be completed. Ultimately my experience showed me that the employees you will deal with on a day-to-day basis are amazing, but it is lead by a management team who is completely out of touch making poor choices and putting their employees in a bad position with the home buyers. ... Very professional caring and considerate. The whole process was great and stress free.

We signed a contract on a fully framed house at the end of November 2021 to close in April latest May and we ended up closing in mid August, 2022. It’s almost as if they were stringing us along for 9 months hoping that we would back out and sell the home for a higher price. After 9 months of waiting, we are in a “new” home that has electrical issues, AC issues, and a bunch of things done in hurry that looks unfinished. One AC vent started to rattle so loud in under a month it’ll wake me up at night. The driveway looks like it took some damage and they just threw concrete at it and didn’t even smith it out. Everyone on the block (including those with the same home design) has an additional side garden and we don’t. There is only one spigot attached to the home and it’s not even conveniently placed near the garden or back. Maybe it’s for the neighbor to use. Not thoughtful at all. They cut a lot of corners and it shows. ... More

Highland Homes...I can't say enough about them. Even though it took a year to build our home, because of the rest of the world's current state, Highland was incredible! Communication was great, they fielded a lot of stress before it ever hit us, so the entire process was so smooth. I knew I could trust them in every area. Jared went above and beyond for us and has even been a support to us post-move-in. Everything they do is high quality. We built our dream house and the building process was a dream come true! We’ve been in our new home almost two months and have had issues with getting our punch list items resolved since moving in. We have been in touch with our construction manager, and he has been responsive towards us about the fact that they are “working on it”, but at this point even items we have submitted a warranty for are going unamended. Our walkthrough was rushed because of a pushed back closing, but with the idea that a walkthrough takes place a couple weeks before closing so the punch list can be taken care of, it’s frustrating that two months after moving in we are still waiting for this punch list to be completed. We love our home, but it is still incomplete and it seems at this point that we are being given the run around so that issues will be forgotten rather than fixed. ... More

It was a great experience and the builder/construction manager were great!

Had a horrible experience with Highland being a first time buyer. The construction manager assigned neither provided any status updates nor picked up the calls. He also never responded to numerous emails and texts sent. There were numerous issues during the house built and even after 2 months of closing, Highland is still working on resolving those. Had to escalate every single time and I essentially worked as a construction manager to supervise my house built. Construction manager also made racial comments saying "which part of English I don't understand" after I asked him on the status update after house closing. He got agitated as he lost the affidavit containing the list of issues signed during closing. Highland is now trying to make things better and also did some damage control around the closing time by involving the division manager. However, its not the experience anyone would have hoped for, especially from a reputed builder like Highland. Would recommend persistently asking to change the construction manager if one is not happy with him/her even after the push back from builder. ... More

We had a HORRIBLE experience through the build. This was our second Highland home, and while we are happy with the quality, the attention to detail and responsiveness of the supervisor was horrendous. We were told we would have weekly phone calls for updates and had 3 phone calls over 4 months. Items would be noted to be repaired/amended and then would be completely disregarded. Even 2 months after moving in, there have been several items that were noted multiple times through the building process that have not been fixed. Overall, I would rate Highland's processes poor and this will be our last home purchased/built via them. ... More
