We built our retirement home in La Cima and we are so pleased we went with Highland Homes! We love everything from the floor plan options to the interior selections we were able to make for our home. We had an excellent experience with our Highland salesperson and our construction manager who stayed in communication with us during the building process. They were attentive and responsive throughout the entire process and worked very well with us to make sure we ended up with our dream retirement home!

The project manager was Ashton. He was kind and professional and very knowledgeable. The house is beautiful and everything we wanted.

Great value for the price. Materials were great, but combination of colors was not. Designers are recommended to combine colors better.

From beginning to end we were told honest answers to our questions. There are a few different builders in our neighborhood and we have seen many homes go untouched for weeks and months, but Kel set the expectations every week and followed through!

My experience was smooth from start to finish. No surprised. PM continued to guide me through some changes I wanted after closing by referring persons to do the work and helping me with pricing. He went the extra 5 miles!!

1st and foremost customer service Anthony my superintendent was Amazing, his responsiveness to small issues that came about after move in was in a timely manner, and was always communicating with me when issues would be resolved. I would highly recommend Highland Home for their attention to detail and 5 stat customer service.

Lots of cosmetic issues. Poor quality sod. Electrical issues & the list goes on.

Overall, I'd give the experience 4 stars out of 5. Highland makes nice homes with good layouts that make you feel like you are in a bigger home, and don't pack the house with space you can't use. The houses have a lot of light and you can tell they are on a different level with quality. We were actually referred to Highland by some friends who lived in one in a different part of the state and loved it. The biggest disappointment was that when we moved in, there were several things on the house that weren't completed and should have been either verified or checked before we got there. We had to submit 7 warranty tickets within the first week of living in the home, for various issues ranging from the thermostat not going below 72 (due to a contractor lock on the thermostat), to the oven not being plugged in - general things which should have been addressed before we moved in. What I will say is that once we brought these things up/submitted warranty tickets, our Construction Manager helped out with getting repairs moving and everything was resolved in a very intrepid manner, and we haven't had any further issues out of the items we listed needing to be addressed. The people you work with are great and they are responsive to the warranty items, the only reason I can't give a perfect rating is because quite frankly the house wasn't ready when we moved in. I was so excited to have my family's home built by Highland, but the experience just got worse and worse as time passed. About 8 months into build, Highland moved the construction manager working on our home to another site and that's when everything went downhill. The new manager was not responsive to my concerns. Especially in regard to green paint being spilled and splattered all over the first floor of the home. I noticed it the week it happened and reported ASAP. It still sat for months, going ignored; it just seemed really disrespectful to the fact that this was going to be our home and they didn't care to clean it up. I understand accidents happen on construction sites, but it was as if someone took a gallon bucket of paint and threw it from across the room, at the back kitchen wall. To this day, (three months post move-in), we are still finding green paint stains in the wood flooring and on cabinets. In addition to the home completing more than 3 months late, everything wasn't completed by closing; in fact, Highland wanted to push closing because they weren't ready. The house had major issues upon closing and we had to add an addendum to the contract that held Highland responsible for finishing the items they weren't able to, before closing. In addition to this, two-weeks after closing, we had a major flood in the bathroom, which lead us to discover a leak that had been ongoing since before we took possession of the house. This lead to two-weeks of major construction of my octogenarian grandparents' portion of the home. It completely destroyed the floors, walls, etc. While Highland was responsive to the issue, they did not go above and beyond to reconcile this issue that was due to their negligence. There is blue board missing behind tile and it has already sunk-in; we continue to have issues with the irrigation leaking, although we've asked for it to be addressed several times. Edna is fantastic. She is so quick to respond and so very friendly, polite and personable. Rhonda and Kim were also fantastic. I constantly received updates, including progress photos. They were all so very helpful. Josh, The construction manager, provided weekly updates and was always very responsive to any questions or concerns. I just can’t say enough great things about everyone I dealt with at Highland Homes during my build and home purchase. Highly, highly recommend Highland Homes and the team at Pecan Square.

While we understand supply chain issues, we were pretty disappointed when we moved in. The builder did respond to the issues, but some? They kept coming back. Even now, we've kind of "given up" and we'll deal with things on our own. The builder over promised, and under delivered. We were told we would be "wowed" when we moved in, and we were, but for the wrong reasons, more like "wow, another thing is wrong." Don't get us wrong, we are happy with our house, we love it. The issues just took the wind out of our sails.

Overall we are happy with the home. We have wanted to build this floor plan for several years. The architectural styling is very aesthetically pleasing. The high ceilings make the house feel very comfortable. Unfortunately, building the house was a painful process. Seems like current housing demands and supply of crews significantly impacted the process. Current supply shortages required brick, rock and granite re-selection. Most of the sub-contractors seem to rush through their work, leading to many items requiring revision. The quality of work seemed to not be of importance, unless addressed by the consumer. It did feel that only a few crews took pride in their work (mason, cabinetry, landscape). Some steps of the build seemed to be out of order (carpet installed prior to paint/trim work completion) leading to stained carpet. The original estimation of the home completion was five months. The build ended up taking 13 months from date of signing. A home that had the foundation poured two days before ours, was completed two months ahead of ours. Closing day was chaos. Normally one would not close until all pending repairs were completed. However, we had been stuck in an apartment for longer than anticipated. Fortunately the warranty claim submission process is streamlined and the construction manager stays on top of pending items. ... More

A warm and friendly experience from start to finish. Attention to detail from our builder gave us tremendous confidence in the final outcome

This is our 3rd Highland home. We had a great experience working with the Highland team leading up to the purchase. Completing the punch list after the purchase has been challenging.

From start to finish the Highland Homes team did a great job. Communication and responsiveness were always clear and honest. There were a couple of supply chain delays, but these were always clarified, and we were never kept waiting for a response.

First, I couldn’t be more happy with our home quality. However, the aspect of the home purchase I loved the most was after the contract was signed and during the build. Both Cece (sales) and Jack (project construction manager) worked with us on all the things we wanted changed and corrected during the build as much as possible. They were relentless in trying to ensure everything was as perfect as possible when we finally closed. Many of the changes were “nit picky” but they always tried as hard as possible with an up beat attitude. Even after the close, warranty items have been handled with the same level of customer service with usually a follow up call the day after submitting. Christine and Javier did a wonderful job helping my family get into our new HH and kept us updated throughout the entire process.

Based on a previous Highland Home we owned we sought out their homes as we felt they were a reputable builder and they stood for quality. They have been responsive to replacing items damaged or broken since we moved in but overall it hasn't been a pleasant experience. During our pre closing walk throughs we pointed out damage to trim, lack of finish quality, fact that sandpaper had not been used on trim board, gaps between trim and flooring as well as the overall finish paint quality on painted cabinets and doors. Minimal effort was put into making it right and it was as if this was just the way it is, take it or leave it. Ultimately we took it as it was the location we wanted and the homes were selling quick. After moving in we hired a private painting crew to repaint the doors and trim to a more satisfactory condition spending another $9500 on trim paint repairs alone. ... More

Everything about this home was great. Highland homes still remains my favorite as their building and structure tastes are equal to none. Very beautiful homes they have got

Everything went well & on time. Very professional in the process. A few things to be corrected but in general no problems at all. Will recommend Highland to my friends &family.

We contracted on our home in October 2020 and did not close until February 2022. There were many delays from our foundation being poured incorrectly that halted the progress on our home. We paid a premium up charge for painted brick only to have crooked unlevel bricks installed throughout the exterior. We had upgraded carpet that was installed prior to the finish out of the home that was not protected and allowed workers to walk throughout home leaving muddy boot prints. Our closing date changed 11 times from September 2021. We had 5 closing date changes in January 2022 alone. The day we closed on the home there was trash all throughout the yard and had to ask multiple times to have it cleaned up. We are still finding nails and razors in our yard. We closed with about 20 items incomplete on our affidavit and are still waiting to have the last remaining items remedied almost 3 months later. Our warranty list of items after move in is quite long from improperly installed frameless shower to damaged doors. The builder seems to be dragging their feet with most of these items and we have not received the quality and service you would expect from a builder when you purchase a 600k plus home with what is supposed to be a premium builder that prides themselves over customer service. ... Worst buying home experience ever. Quality of home is horrendous

The overall experience has been great including our local rep: Troy and construction POC: Layne. The only area we have to be honest about is the Quality of workmanship & materials...

I am extremely impressed and satisfied with the level of customer service we received from Judie (office) and Michael (builder rep). Their follow through is impeccable.

You can tell when you look at other builders homes and divisions that Highland build quality is better. The homes are all brick and come with a lot of extras. The sales agent was excellent (Brittany) in keeping us informed during the build process. The homes are more expensive but you get what you pay for. They do not change the price upwards like many builders are now doing once you have contracted your home.
