Building manager was absolutely excellent!

Really enjoyed the sales person but I have been disappointed with the overall building process.

Overall, the quality of the home we purchased from Highland is good. Being able to see work that was put in behind the walls was encouraging. Unfortunately, it is clear that the builder was pushing to close before the end of the year to lower their tax burden on a developed lot vs the raw land it was before the building process began. The finishing topics in several places were sloppy and it felt like the term "in compliance" was used many times during our walk through. We were only able to complete our first walkthrough 5 days prior to closing so almost all blue/green tape fixes occurred after closing. Since the home was "completed" so close to closing, there was almost no option to shop around for mortgage rates because of the 14 day window lenders suggest so the only option was to go with the highland home loans, who's rates are higher than what we were offered elsewhere. The list of items to complete post closing it quite long and we were pressured by the project manager to sign the open items list about a month after closing with none of the items completed. It is currently almost 2.5 months after closing and most of the items are still open. Another issue we had was a leak resulting from when the sidewalk was poured. both downstairs bathrooms and the master closet flooded. I wouldn't have expected this to be caught since the issue was underground but the repair has been very slow. It's been nearly 2 months since the event and most of the repairs are still outstanding. We are happy to be in a home but performance from the builder was as continues to be frustrating for us. ... More

Work was very rushed. Very disappointed with the purchase. I'm still dealing with issues on repairs to be completed that should have been done before forcing me to close just to make a year end number. Worst experience I've had ever buying a new home.

We have enjoyed working with Nelli and Ashton as well as there whole team. Highland has a great product and design. They really made us feel like family through the whole process. Honesty and integrity is who they are! Thank you so much!

Highland Homes is the best builder in the DFW. Their homes are magnificent and Pecan Square is great community. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. At one point we almost gave up, and this team fought tooth and nail to get us through the finish line. Edna, Kim, Rhonda and Lonnie you are highly appreciated.

We purchased a prototype home that was not complete and have been struggling for over 3 months for completion to be achieved on several issues. Everyone we have worked with is very pleasant and well meaning but the process has been much too slow. I doubt that non-prototype homes have experienced anything like this but we are feeling that our issues are low priority!

To mention a few issues, The home was not ready to be delivered on the day of close with construction taking place the day off closing, tile pieces and dust all over master bathroom, supplies left throughout the home, and countless issues to follow. The home is still not complete 2 months post closing.

Great sales consultant. Poor workmanship throughout the entire house from the carpet, to the cabinets, to the floor, to the shoe moldings, to the paint, to the plumbing, to the windows. All of these items had issues and has negatively impacted my home buying experience with highland homes. We chose Highland homes because of the high quality that was promised and expected. Unfortunately, we will not be recommending a highland home to family and friends.

Experience was good throughout the 7 months build process. Our builder tony was amazing throughout the process. Things that could have been done better is all the cabinets they are poor in quality and work done by cabinet company when we moved in they had scratches dirt marks that are not removable. Quality is poor. Paint job is poor quality as well. For half a million home definitely not great. There are lot of things that could be done better for highlands reputation

We understood early issues with the supply chain, but two months after moving in and our home is still not complete. Despite the builders having our list from BEFORE closing, we are still fighting to get our home done. Every time we talk to someone about getting it done, we are told workers will be here on whatever day… so my wife stays home all day and no one shows up and our calls get ignored. Don’t close before every tiny thing is done. Or choose more responsive builders. They will promise you the world, but you shouldn’t believe it until you see it. Even though my home was far delayed due to supply chain issues, it should never have been closed when it did due to problems that should have been handled pre-closing. The front door doesn't seal and going on 4 months not fixed - allows insects and cold air into the house. One of the walls is 4 inches off spec per several post build contractors informed me about - causing the trim of kitchen cabinets to not be aligned correctly. Severe damage inside a cabinet that was not caught by the builder during their own pre-closing inspection. That, despite them discouraging me to get my own independent inspector within a week and a half of closing. Water holds in the back yard due to poor grading. Some wall sections are not straight. Framing was poorly done. Painting was sloppy and missed in some areas, painted over cabinets in others. Some window's aren't framed square and require custom fixes. Baseboard that had a seam in the middle of a room when it should be a single run. Ethernet drop wasn't put in and took a month to fix. Careless attention to detail and a rushed build on top of a price increase while I was ready to sign but management and thus communication disappeared for weeks before changing hands. Sales staff worked diligently to find the house that met our requested needs, Construction was completed on or ahead of schedule, closing was scheduled promptly and professionally executed. Minor warranty issues have been handled promptly and correctly. Great experience with everyone at Highland Homes at Thompson Farms

Great professional staff, The contractor was very polite and cooperative, He really listen the issue raised by us and address at the spot or deliver as per the promise. The house is in a nice condition and i am sure it will be like this for long. Thank you

Poor acoustics in building construction.

I bought an inventory home that was custom built for someone else. It had been ready for sometime so I thought everything would be check and ready for move in. I’ve had a few service calls and a lot of Sheetrock break around the bullnose corners. This isn’t my first time buying a new home but it is my first time having build issues. Also numerous door knobs and ripped off form improper installation, doors barely on hinges. Not what I thought a Neary 800k home would be.

My new Highland home in Veranda is beautiful. The design is modern and functional, and the use of space is perfect. The Highland Homes team provided exceptional service and made the home buying process very smooth and pleasant. They were meticulous about ensuring my house was in pristine condition before closing, and I love living in it.

Overall, we had a great experience. A few minor issues along the way, but nothing out of ordinary when building a new home. For a 1,600 sq ft home I feel like the price was really steep, but that is more indicative of the market.

I closed on my home on 12/27/2021. The condition of the home when I received it should not be something Highland is proud of. The carpet was not completed. There was an entire closet that wasn't carpeted, the carpet on the stairs was loose, and carpet was sticking up in several corners. I received the wrong stove and I am still waiting for the correct one. My bathrooms are still missing mirrors and the master bath does not have the shower door, vanity lights, or the glass to separate the shower and bathtub. I have closets that don't have the rods to hang clothes. I have paint on railings and paint isn't complete. The little square pieces at the bottom of the railing are all loose. The sprinkler system does not work properly. We have not received our chandelier yet but the unfinished home next door has their's. Also, the unfinished home next door seems farther along than my home. I just think it's crazy that the house was turned over in the condition it was in. The back yard was a mess and there was urine on a toilet seat. Just didn't seem much pride or priority was taken in building my home. We aren't a priority. Also, why isn't there insulation in the interior walls? The toilet in the master bathroom sits right against the living room wall and you can hear everything. As first time home buyers we entrusted Highland to build our dream home and Highland has failed us. Highland hasn't reached out in an attempt to right the wrongs. It's been a miserable experience.
