Very helpful and knowledgeable of what they do

During the building process, we had no issue. We knew the build timeline would take longer due to the industry's current environment. However, not everything was completed prior to our close date and the warranty experience has not been very enjoyable. I wish there was more communication/responsiveness.

Highland homes has always been known for exceptional customer service. However, post pandemic I do feel that the bottom line, making money, has now trumped what highland homes has stood for for so long. The experience of buying a home with highland was supposed to be an amazing experience, so I thought. Little did I know that we would experience such horrible things in route to closing and honestly after closing. Highland waited until 2 days before our closing date in December to push our close date out 2 weeks. There was zero transparency in the decision making process on when or why our close would be pushed. What was more horrible about the situation was that my family and I had moved half way across the country and would now be stuck in a hotel. Once our close was push and I was physical close enough to check on the house, there was literally no work done on the home for the first 2 weeks that the home was pushed out, thus forcing another closing push by highland homes. To make matters worse, my home family contracted Covid while staying in the hotel and no place to separate or quarantine. Highland homes offered no compensation at that time for any of our hotel stay. Finally after 3 and half weeks in a hotel we finally closed in mid to late January. However, there were and still are so many poorly crafted aspects of the home that need to be fixed. All in all these are my thoughts: I feel like highland home was ok with allowing customers to spend top dollar on their homes but were not concerned at all with the customer experience during the process. That is a direct contradiction of what highland homes’ values have always been. I also felt that highland homes struggled with having labor to actually build our home. If there was a lack of labor, customers deserve to know that so that way they can have realistic expectations. Also, the labor that they did have to build our homes was poor as so many things that they installed had to be fixed and still need to be fixed post close. My wife and I never heard from any of the project managers involved in building our home, given the fact that there were so many project delays. If your bottom line is customer service, then you start with transparency and communication. Communication is a foundational pillar of any relationship of any kind and if you don’t have that then the relationship suffers tremendously. We are two years removed from Covid and materiel availability has remained an issue. Staying ahead of the supply chain and offering customers knowledge of who the vendors are and any vendor issues in real time would also help customers have realistic expectations. Highland should know that you can’t just hide behind your product and your words. It has to be your actions. Brooke and Jeremy were fantastic. They were always available when I needed them and did everything they said they would. I highly recommend Highland!

Highland Homes have a better built quality compared to other companies.

Bad paint job. Paint/stains all over floors and doors. Garage concrete is completely stained and chipped. Construction did not follow design and preconstruction design notes. Floors lifted by trim. Doors don't close right. Drawers slides are not smooth. I think my expectations were to high choosing Highland, should of known something was off when the sales rep took us to tour a house and they couldn't believe how much trash there was. I do believe more supervision should be done over the construction crew not only in design but in constructability.

We closed on our house with an affidavit for needed repairs/home finishings. We assumed it'd be done withing 14 days. We're over 2 months in and all of the repairs are still not complete. We've had to take multiple days off work to accommodate contractors, etc.! We had a third party contractor show up at our house to serve us a hand written "notice" that they haven't been paid by Highland and plan to take action. I met the guy while he was building the deck before we purchased the home. It's not my first pick of people to have showing up in the evening angry with my 15 month old in the house. We bought in a gated community with one of the "top home builders" and paid over market value. I really feel like Highland is a joke and focused on selling "projected builds" while the housing bubble is still high to yield profit. They're getting ahead of themselves and selling more than they can build/supply to take advantage of the market. If I could do it again, I'd go with Perry. ... More

Great work during tough times. Some things were delayed but that’s completely understandable.co-operative on certain ask and satisfied on overall completion.

Bought a home in January 2022. The process was smooth and people were friendly. Once I moved in I found a lot of issues. Shower was leaking, garbage disposal isn’t working, garage open randomly in the middle of the night just to name a few. I understand it’s a new build but these were too many issues for me. Warranty request are followed up but even then they reschedule several times. Like I said nice people but too many issues.

We had a great experience with Highland, they are incredibly responsive with any need and made the home buying process easy.

I came to Highland Homes after I heard great reviews and rave about them. My buying experience was good. Very transparent and prompt team. My experience with quality of material is horrible. I literally have issues with everything. From tiles to flooring. Paint to cabinet quality. Cleaning was off when we entered. From day 1 onwards I am chasing someone to fix issues and its more than 2 months now and issues still exist. Its my weekly task to log complaints and coordinate with multiple people to fix issues. Very bad experience on my first home.

Great Homes and great service

I am happy as a highland home buyer. Sales team helped me from beginning and later builder team took care of all our requirements and helped me at every stage of construction. They continuously gave updates through my construction phase and delivered as per the promise. I am happy to recommend for anyone

Highlands was highly recommended to us. But the workmanship was not close to what we saw in model home or website.

Really enjoyed the sales person but I have been disappointed with the overall building process.

Overall, the quality of the home we purchased from Highland is good. Being able to see work that was put in behind the walls was encouraging. Unfortunately, it is clear that the builder was pushing to close before the end of the year to lower their tax burden on a developed lot vs the raw land it was before the building process began. The finishing topics in several places were sloppy and it felt like the term "in compliance" was used many times during our walk through. We were only able to complete our first walkthrough 5 days prior to closing so almost all blue/green tape fixes occurred after closing. Since the home was "completed" so close to closing, there was almost no option to shop around for mortgage rates because of the 14 day window lenders suggest so the only option was to go with the highland home loans, who's rates are higher than what we were offered elsewhere. The list of items to complete post closing it quite long and we were pressured by the project manager to sign the open items list about a month after closing with none of the items completed. It is currently almost 2.5 months after closing and most of the items are still open. Another issue we had was a leak resulting from when the sidewalk was poured. both downstairs bathrooms and the master closet flooded. I wouldn't have expected this to be caught since the issue was underground but the repair has been very slow. It's been nearly 2 months since the event and most of the repairs are still outstanding. We are happy to be in a home but performance from the builder was as continues to be frustrating for us. ... More

Work was very rushed. Very disappointed with the purchase. I'm still dealing with issues on repairs to be completed that should have been done before forcing me to close just to make a year end number. Worst experience I've had ever buying a new home.

We have enjoyed working with Nelli and Ashton as well as there whole team. Highland has a great product and design. They really made us feel like family through the whole process. Honesty and integrity is who they are! Thank you so much!

Highland Homes is the best builder in the DFW. Their homes are magnificent and Pecan Square is great community. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. At one point we almost gave up, and this team fought tooth and nail to get us through the finish line. Edna, Kim, Rhonda and Lonnie you are highly appreciated.
