Trust worthy builder out there, who stands by the what they have promised to deliver.

Overall it was a good experience. My wife and I enjoyed the people we worked with as they were friendly, responsive, and respectful. We would buy a Highland home again, but we would watch the building process a lot more closely along the way. I feel they are experiencing labor issues with their contractors and overall workmanship was lacking when it comes to fine details. For example small things being missed, paint and caulking just looks sloppy in areas, etc. Closing ended up being a mad dash to get everything done as the house wasn't ready. This probably contributed to the fine details being sloppy. The overall quality of the materials is great and we love the floor plan. We are very happy with our purchase and as I've said we would buy another Highland Home, but next time I would make sure I was more present during the building process. ... More

Very responsive to fixing warranty issues and working out satisfactory resolutions.

Builders are excellent, all the workers were great. It was awesome to move into a home that was clean before move in. Builder always responded when I text a question. So glad I went with Highland Homes.

Overall we’re happy to call this house home. Just few issues with some of the work done on the house already seeing Cosmetic issues, with cabinets, have a rat in the attic first night moved in, was told to call the exterminator v. The builder taking care of it.

We specifically told the Highland Home Representatives, unlike others we were in no rush for the home but rather wanted quality work and material used in the process verses speed in trying to move into the home. What we got was very poor quality work that required us to bring in a third party inspector and maintain a detailed list of issues that required no less than four internal inspections by us and continueing to maintain and demand the list be addressed in order to get through the buying process. You have zero quality control in your process and only look to push the home out in hopes of the naive buyer just taking the home. A perfect example was that we were told to come do a final orientation/inspection only to find that insulation was missing throughout the ceiling and so many other deficiencies that I had to call the Highland representative to ask her to come to the home so I could show her the pages of quality issues with home that they were pushing us to close on. It was also very clear that steps were performed out of place, which caused additional delays and costs to your companies. Blame it on the sub's is a common statement, yet these subs were hired by your company and no-one validated or inspected their work. Only because our insistence, did these issues get addressed. This required me to assign one of my employees to site in the home and ensure that the issues were validated as completed, given the lack of confidence at this point in the building process. Keep in mind, I made it clear we wanted a quality product and was willing to except delays (given we were in the middle of the Pandemic), yet we were pushed to accept a sub-par home for half a million dollars. We finally got things done correctly but it required way to much effort on our part in the building process, and surely would not lead us to recommend your company to any others. Your company lacks defined processes and a real quality control system. I own a company that does work for the Government, and use a detailed quality control system on the services we provide. Your company desperately needs a formal Quality Control Process, that is outside that of the superintendent, who appears to be overwhelmed. My hope is that you gain some insight into your process with real feedback, but I believe you will just continue your existing ways, which can only survive in times when competition does not really exist. You need a real Quality Control System that tracks and reports on all work performed. Good Luck ... More

They are very busy and still things are yet to be fixed after a 2 month clouser, i think i paid more for the house compared to similar size build adjustment

Even though the build of our home took longer than expected (due to factors outside of Highland Homes' control), we stayed informed at every step of the way, which is something very important to me. My construction manager did a phenomenal job at checking his own work and now that I've been in my home for several months, I've yet to come across any quirks that usually result from some degree of carelessness. I fully trust Highland Homes at Santa Rita Ranch and would very likely be looking at Highland Homes if I were to do a new build again.

The house has several issues that needed to resolved after closing. Now 2 months after closing, and I’m still waiting on several issues to be corrected.

The overall process, the roadmap to buying a home in these times with Covid, materials shortages and other life-challenges was all made easier with my Highland Homes team. Jennifer and Cameron were always available and fast to respond to any questions or requests we had. Most builders would have said “no, sorry, that’s not possible”, etc, but we had none of that. The basic upgrades in our home saved us so much money it allowed us to do some special things we never thought we could, including a huge patio slab and the Flex Bedroom option. We have bought a few homes in our lifetime and each builder has its quirks. Many expensive lessons were learned. Based on this we always start the home buying process with trepidation. The experience from day one through beyond 'closing' with Highland Homes at Mantua Point has been the exception. Front End Sales: Jennifer and her sales team have been informative and truthful about how long it will take and the amount it will cost. We did not experience any 'forgetfulness' or excuses about cost or timelines. They also provided construction updates and information on all the utilities in a timely manner to help ensure that we had no surprises. Home Construction: Cody, the construction foreman, is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. Although there were delays due to logistical issues and shortages from the supply line (no industry is immune currently), he worked his hardest to keep a tight timeline for completion. He also had us do 2 walkthroughs because the supply line problems caused certain times not to be complete on time. After closing, he was very attentive and worked with us to get it corrected with any issue that we found. We are in love with our Highland Home! It’s well built, checked off all of our requirements in a home, and our construction manager is absolutely wonderful! It takes a special kind of person to tolerate two rambunctious toddlers on a walk through! Can’t thank James, Jason, Jon and the rest of the highland team enough!!

Happy with quality of home, a few minor issues popped up after we moved in, as expected, but they're being addressed. A little slow, but being addressed.

The care and quality exhibited by the subcontractors was very disappointing. The PM for the builder did a good job getting things corrected. The cleanliness of the home at move in was not as expected.

Naturally, issues will arise when building a home. In every challenge, our salesperson and job foreman were helpful, positive, and made sure our needs and expectations were met.

Everything was very smooth from initial process to final move-in as Highland homes processed however, i missed some options since this is my first home. I really like the Quality and i feel worth the money. when it comes to Builder's team specially my construction Manager was awesome, i don't know if any constructor manager will respond after closing but my construction manager is still helping me wherever i need his help. very patience and helpful. Finally very loyal and trust worthy builder to buy a house.

The overall materials used to build the home is good but really poor workmanship. Not so happy with the electrical planning & workmanship, kitchen cabinet install work, work around the yard that was supposed to be provided and some tile work.

Communication with our builder has been terrible. Some of the communication issues are his fault but he's also at the mercy of his contractors that simply don't give a crap anymore. The painters were horrible and two crews were fired during the build process. Now painters who come in are kids with zero experience. Trying to get contractors to show up at all has been an absolute pain. Highland is doing the best they can. We fortunately started the build process early in the year. House was completed in 10 months but we have neighbors who built a year prior and it only took 6 months. Now I'm hearing total build time is 12-16 months. Can't get materials, can't find workers, if you find workers, the quality of their work is horrible. If you must build now, know going into it that it will be a really bumpy ride. If you've built in the past, forget about that experience. This day and age, people building your house flat out could not care about overall quality of their work. If your builder isn't happy with that contractor, that contractor will just get up and leave because they have 100 other jobs they can go too. Again, this isn't really a Highland Homes issue. This is just an issue we all face these days. Even employees in over services areas simply do not care because they can go find another job in a heart beat. If you don't have to build now, I would highly recommend you wait a few years. Yes, prices keep going up but the wait will be worth it. Thankfully our build is complete but we are still dealing with warranty items that are taking months to get completed. Most are 5 min jobs and it's like pulling teeth to get someone to show up! ...
