The build process went very smoothly especially given that I was out-of-state and only able to visit a couple of times. I think that this was largely due to the sales counsellor, designer and construction manager. The sales counselor in particular was always reachable and responsive to requests for information, offering suggestions, and discussing/implementing changes. Mine was a Spec house and I am very happy with the designer's choices of those details that I would otherwise have had to make. Overall, the workmanship and materials are excellent - any reservations I have are pretty inconsequential. Overall a good experience despite the delays in materials. Not Highlands fault. Dealing with the design center was a bit of a cluster. Overall , would build with Highland again

This is my second Highland Home that I have had built in the last 10 years. There is no other company I would trust to build my dream home. Everyone that I worked with was great and went above and beyond to deliver for their buyers!

Excellent customer service and value for money

I don't think our home should have been sold in its current state. All of the initial responders to our problems are gone, we are getting a slow response to repairs and the home is incomplete.

Lesli, Seth and Michael took care of us every step of the way. My husband and I wanted lots of "extras" so they even shared ways to make our home more spectacular. I would do all again with this group of people. Thanks for hiring such a wonderful team!

We built during the pandemic. When most builders were taking shortcuts, 12+ months to build and changing contracts, Highland Homes stayed consistent with their original promise to the best of their ability. They also had great upgrades and options to choose from that made our house really stand out from others in the community. We feel like we got a quality home vs. a cookie cutter one. We love our house, lots of space, great layout, materials are excellent. However, we all say that the little things are the ones that matter. It is really hard to get Highland homes team to respond to an issue. Lots of excuses when it comes to follow up and communication is broken with the construction team. All we need as a customer is someone to follow up and highland homes team fails tremendously on that.

The actual buying, and designing was pretty good. The build process was an absolute nightmare; builder communication was horrible if it occurred at all. The issue was not a lack of materials, it was over sights of the design of the home, not following the blue prints. Over all I would not recommend Highland, if I had to do it again I would of chosen a different builder.

Julio managed our home's build and did an excellent job. He is quick to respond and truly cares about the homeowner's experience. He made everything incredibly easy and it still taking care of minor items we request help with even months after moving in. Julio alone has made us highly recommend Highland Homes to others and will make us a repeat customer for our next home in the future. Thank you Julio!

Completely pleased. The builder was fantastic throughout the entire process. The quality of the house is unparalleled. Every detail was seen too. This builder get my fullest and highest recommendation to anyone looking to buy a home!

Sales process was very positive. Building process less so. Great building superintendent assigned to build. Midstream he quit for a new builder. Replacement hood but not aware of all issues that had been agreed to. Supply chain issues. We have been in house for 7 weeks and still don’t have key appliances. Follow up on punch list is weak. Overall house is great. Pleased with build but frustrated with follow up. Too many “the other guy did it “ excuses. Someone needs to take responsibility. There were promises made and not kept. The work to complete the home continued after we moved in. We’ve had several warranty items that needs addressing, one item we’ve had a visit 3 separate times. Bath is still not complete nor have we had a final cleanup. I will take responsibility for signing off on completed items but I was relying on trust and word being kept.

Overall satisfied, it’s a very beautiful house and we love it. The only thing is that the contractor forgot to build a linen closet for our upstairs. Now that we closed, they didn’t go back in to fix it.

Overall Excellent Customer Service throughout the building process

I’ll start with the good. Ethan, the sales manager was awesome. He seemed to care, took the time to answer questions and even sent us updated pictures. Hank, the loan officer was very helpful and informative and answered all of our questions. Now for the bad. We had 3 different construction mangers. So things were missed every time there was a change in personnel. There is such a lack of communication. Tradesmen just show up unannounced and whenever they want. The affidavit when we moved in was “to take only two weeks” is still not done 4 months later. We still don’t have the official affidavit copy that we have asked for several times. The craftsmanship is not good and it doesn’t even seem like they care. When they come and “fix” something, it’s not fixed, it just “looks” better, but not properly done, and then something else gets messed up and we start the process all over again. Tradesmen just randomly show up unannounced, but when there is a scheduled time, they don’t show up at all. So much of my time has been wasted by tradesman that can’t get the job done. We had so many issues with the tile work, cabinets, painters, brick issues and so much more. I can never get the construction manager to give me an answer, let alone support for the fixes that need to be made. I have to continue to just randomly email to get something done that was on our affidavit. The saddest part, is that I would never refer this builder to someone else. This was supposed to be our forever home, I feel they have taken that away from me and don’t even care. I can’t even been to describe the level of frustration and saddened we have felt over this. DO NOT BUY A Highland Home. Highland homes built us a shoddy substandard house. We have been filing warranty claims several times a week since we moved in due to all sorts of problems. We closed almost two months ago and still can’t use our kitchen cabinets. We paid for so many upgrades, not only were the materials cheap but the labor/install were shoddy, sloppy, careless, just outright unprofessional. The builder told us this is how it is in San Antonio. They will never be as good as the Dallas area. We should lower our standards/expectations. How comforting! We bought brand new homes before from other builders and remodeled a couple of homes. We never seen such shoddy substandard work ever. Even my husband's DIYs are better. The trades here are an embarrassment to the industry. They have no shame in building crappy houses. ZERO standards. The so-called professional painters don't use blue tape and tilers don't use spacers. Our kitchen backsplash looks awful and our cabinets are not usable. The shelves are cut too short and several of them started peeling before we even moved in. Scratches and dents everywhere on countertop, doors, trims, appliances, and messy paint jobs. You do not get what you pay for. If you want to be disappointed and deal with incompetent workers on a weekly basis, then buy a Highland Home. ... More

I do not know if I have enough room. 1. Fireplace was not put in correctly and whoever put it in bent some things so it looked like it was in correctly. 2. Tile is cracked and covered up with paint to look as if not cracked. 3. Side of house was not finished and had a hole in it (we had to fix it) 4 We paid for an extended patio (16,000$) and they did not brick in the back! It looks so cheap it is embarrassing to have people over. 5. Light fixture in entrance looked like the one we ordered but it was a much smaller version and have yet to get the one we ordered (was this done on purpose thinking we would not see the difference?) 6. Guttering in the back of the house...well there is none and when it rains, the rain makes a big hole in the yard. 7. The black fireplace tile was done incorrectly and it is off center. 8. Paint missing on the inside and outside of the house and no one will give us the name of the paint so we can get it and fix it ourselves. 9. No one will give us a manual and you cannot find one online to "fix" our air conditioner/heater so that we might adjust the temperature. I want to add that Don and Linda are great... ... More
