My first home in TX was a Highland Home. I later moved to another new build by a different builder. What a step down that was Although the new home was more expensive, the quality of the finishing left a lot to be desired. Drawers were noisy, appliances cheap, we had several warranty requests, much more than we did in our Highland home. When we started looking for a home again, our first stop was Highlands. We are very satisfied with our decision and we love our new home. Will I buy a Highland home again? Absolutely!!!

Overall we did have a good experience with both our Highland Rep and the builder. We were disappointed that we did not get the specific model that we wanted, but understand the limitation with repetitive designs. We would indeed work with our rep (Ashley) our builder (Shane) and would buy Highland again. The flat pain on the walls is probably the one issue we had as it marks up very easy and required significant touch ups after moving in. Had other, minor fixable issues when we moved in but overall very satisfied with our home.

Jake and Branka were both professional and pleasant to work with. They were attentive to our needs and worked with us as we relocated from another state.

Edison was great! He always did what he said he would do and greatly appreciated his commitment and follow through on details while balancing the the best interests of his company and keeping the buyer(me) happy. I’d hire him to work for me.

My experience with Highland Homes is as below. Positive experiences - Good plans. I found Highland Homes plans quite good. I think they have made good use of the overall space and good amount of light in the homes. - The construction material is generally good, with some exceptions as highlighted below in the negative section. - The home was delivered before the promised timeline, which was quite helpful. - The Sales Team was quite good and responsive. They were helpful in making some minor changes here and there, although, everything was through a change order. Negative. - Design Center experience was not up to the mark. The available options for upgrade were limited, especially in the case of wood flooring/Laminate. There were barely 4-5 options for laminate flooring and relatively few wooden flooring options. - Quality of workmanship. In my experience few places the supervision of the work was not adequate. E.g. the tiles in the master bathroom were not in perfect level as a result you can feel the edges and not much can be done about it. Also the sod in the backyard was laid without proper levelling as a result there is lot of uneven surface, which is an expensive proposition for the customer after closing which could have been avoided with little supervision. - Material. My observation on material quality is particularly with framing. I noticed in few places the studs used were not very good or strong. I had a hard time installing TV wall mount as some of the studs were damaged. This could have been avoided with supervision. There was a noticeable difference in the framing as compared to some of the leading builders. - Responsiveness. The response from the project team has not been up to the mark. While it was addressed to some extent, but it went down after the closing again. - Value for the price. The upgrades in general were very expensive, including the listed price, while some promotions were applied but there was little adjustment for the steep price drop right after the closing. Overall, I am happy with my home as it built before the promised timeline and like the plan, but there is a lot of room for improvement in the overall customer experience as highlighted above. ... Generally, the buying process was quick and easy! The price of the house was in a reasonable range, although there are some unexpected surprises of paying extra for some of the developer’s own responsibilities to bring essential services to the area! In addition, I don’t expect to worry about the absence of blinds, funs and even a few of window screens are still missing! However, the properties of Highland Homes are fantastic! Really want to give the construction manager, Luke, a 5-Star rating. From the first time we met, before a contract, he has been patient, professional and timely with his responses to our questions and construction issues. His intentions to resolve issue quickly were often thwarted by unreliable subs. We've purchased several new homes in the Austin area over the past 30 years and find Luke to be one of the best!

Working with Highland has been a great experience. They truly care about their customers even after the purchase is complete. We love our new home and highly recommend Highland Homes to anyone looking to purchase a new construction home.

Builder Drake was a pleasure to work with and very responsive. Only complaint was lack of disclosure that knobs and handles a charge control. Certainly would have executed that if told of this issue

We loved that highland had more options to customize our home compared to other builders.

The home buying experience was good. I enjoyed it.

Highland homes is a great builder but with this community having to deliver too many homes in short time, construction managers have too many homes in their hands hence some of the things are not being looked upon. My CM - Dillon was awesome and hence I got a good home, but I have seen my neighbors homes where the CMs are completely ignorant or MIA, and their homes are not up to the mark. Request Highland homes to assign more CMs to this community so that new homes constructed as per buyer's needs. I, personally do not have many complaints.

The overall assessment of my home buying experience is very good. I love my new home.

For the price I paid and the interest on the loan, they should have taken more time to perfect the completions; have more space in the bathroom design, more patio space, and even a study room. Also, for the cost of the HOA we should have an indoor pool that we could use all year round.

The entire experience has been great. When issues arise they are quickly addressed.

Highland Homes would not consider moving light switches lower or making bathroom doorways wider to accommodate federal ADA disability requirements. A compromise was offered but required an unreasonably large deposit. As a result, our elderly relatives who use a wheelchair have difficulty navigating our new house. Builder misunderstood change order for placement of additional outdoor lighting. We were charged nearly $600 for them to make the correction. Builder has very responsive to minor defects since taking ownership. One issue persists, though, causing our kitchen to smell like raw sewage whenever the dishwasher is run. We will continue to watch for signs of water intrusion on the interior, likely seeping through weep holes in the brick, which is causing window frames to be wet inside the walls (discovered when drilling pilot holes for drapes). ... I love the floor plan options, the experience with the sales team was simple and straightforward (no pressure). The construction project manager was awesome and very responsive throughout the construction and was very accommodating to my needs. When it comes to the quality of contractors' work, only a few were careful with their quality of work. Most of the contractors (painters, carpenters, dry wall people etc.) very VERY SLOPPY. I just don't understand how they would simply miss the spots that were either damaged during the construction or didn't get textured/or missed paint. I had to point out a lot of things that shouldn't have been there to begin with, and even then had to call back the painters a few times because they still kept missing regardless of the blue tape. While I am happy with overall purchase, very dissatisfied with the quality of work. However, I do appreciate the construction manager because he still takes care of any issues that I point out, and that really makes up for the sloppy work of the contractors. ... More

Great experience and quick response to issues

Buying a new home can be stressful. Highland Homes did a great job of addressing issues promptly. I would recommend to family and friends.

Everything is good, but felt priced extra for home

There were some things that were supposed to get done off the final walk through but they were not. We are still getting those things done over months later after moving in.
