The home is beautiful and we are really happy that we managed to get a home with Highland in this crazy market. Out of the builders we looked at, we could tell Highland had good quality homes.

We could not be happier with our Highland home! Wonderful floorplans, incredible design features including 11 foot ceilings, arches and expensive windows. Every member of the Highland team that we’ve dealt with has had such pride for their company and their work product and they were very welcoming. Great job!

The construction managers in La Cima we’re fantastic to work with. Very professional and knowledgeable.

This company is very busy which means that they often don’t have time to address issues you may have with your home. This can be frustrating. There are some areas in my home where the finish work such as the painting is subpar and sloppy. I am waiting for issues with getting the right paint to correct itself, so that I can fix these flaws myself

From our first visits to home in the area, Highland Homes craftmanship, style and amenities stood out from the rest, and since moving into our new home, even before in working with the builder everything has been fantastic. Then, since moving in, any need that Highland can meet has been met in full. We could not be happier!

The entire staff: the construction overseer, loan officer, and salesman were all very attentive to my needs throughout the home buying process and afterwards. No matter the question or issue, the staff has been able to immediately provide me with an answer to my questions and resolve any unforeseen issues that may have arisen.

They can be trusted. Just follow up on everything being done on your home and if you identify any issue talk to them immediately. They will readily respond to it.

Great quality, value and dynamic team of peiple to work with

The home-buying process with Highland Homes was fantastic! Starting with the sales office all the way through completion from the builder, it was easily the best experience of all the homes we have built. I've spent most of my business life in customer service, which has made me very aware of customer service and also causes me to put a fair amount of thought into ratings and reviews. The fact that we began the process at the onset of a pandemic and Highland was still able to meet or exceed expectations throughout the challenges of labor/material shortages and cost increases makes their performance that much more impressive. We initially chose Highland based on our agent, who has extensive knowledge of new home builders, saying that Highland has always treated her and her clients honestly and respectfully. And Highland certainly did not disappoint. Of course that isn't to say that every detail along the way was perfect; however, when an issue would arise it was dealt with to our satisfaction every time. Again, with the challenges of 2020, Highland could have decided to take advantage of the situation to maximize their profits; however, they chose not to. And there weren't many builders who made the right choice. We personally knew of several instances from multiple homebuilders that used loopholes to either get out of contracts completely to sell or auction homes at a much higher price or renegotiate the contract to pass along all cost and price increases to the customer. Again, these were contracts that had been signed months in advance, some of which were weeks from finish and close. We expressed our concern and angst to our agent, who had several clients facing similar issues, and she continued to say that Highland was one of the most upstanding builders she works with. At no point were we ever contacted to alter the price or agreement and the home was completed on schedule. I have no doubt whatsoever that Highland was faced with the choice of making far less money than expected off of our home or using shady loopholes to maximize profits. It can't be overstated what their handling of the situation says about their company and those who make the decisions. To be honest, the professionalism alone would have validated the choice to go with Highland; however, the house came out great as well. Those in the sales office and design center did a fantastic job of understanding our vision and steering us in the right direction. Highland even allowed us to make alterations to the floor plan that resulted in turning a single play room into two separate study nooks, each walled off separately and attached to both of our kids bedrooms via a new doorway. Once construction started, the builder was in regular contact, which was important being several states away with limited travel opportunities due to flight restrictions. I would have given the entire process 5 stars even if it wasn't in the middle of a pandemic; however, the fact that somehow Highland provided the best overall home buying/building process we've experienced during such a challenging year is pretty much all you need to know regarding our thoughts and experience with their company. ... Our project manager, Keith, was very good. Very responsive. Our sales people, CeCe and Fran, were also very good and helpful.

You have to be available when important aspects of the building are being done if you need anything modified. Ask at the right time and it shall be done for you. They are very understanding.

We did not have a good experience with sales or project manager. Highland lacks attention to detail. People working on your house don’t even have access to the plans.

Our experience was GREAT. From the beginning til the end. Don Arnold was outstanding. Our builder, Mason was outstanding/professional a joy to work with. He addressed issues and provided solutions.

What is my character limit here? Because I need a LOT of space to explain. The process started fine, with some adjustments for COVID. But even accounting for some delays, Highland construction was hideously mismanaged. - From August to October, virtually zero progress because the local construction manager was not scheduling inspections with the city of Kyle. 10 week delay. Lots of yelling and screaming when we found out, they reassign a new construction manager who assures us he is on it. Expected move in now pushed from November to February. - House was making some progress at least, inspections being scheduled. We pointed out several items that would need correction - assured by construction manager that they would be taken care of. - February passes, still slow progress, being told due to inspections but when pushed on it admitting that they were failing inspections. Escalated to Highland Regional Construction Manager to get control of the situation. - March and still no closing date scheduled. Several items we had been pointing out for months are still not corrected. Construction manager assures us he is "on it". - April, and FINALLY a closing date. Several items still outstanding. Main one of which is outlet and switch covers (48 in total) that were cut WAY too big (some over 1/2 in too big) during drywall phase. We ask to get them fixed. Contractors spackle and paint WITHOUT REMOVING THE COVERS, so covers are now covered in spackle and paint, texture is missing around them. We complain about this and some other items enough that the regional manager, area manager, and local construction manager all meet with us at the house a week before closing. We are ASSURED it will all be fixed before close. - Day before closing - multiple outlet and switch covers still not fixed, along with a number of other items. We escalate to delay closing. Are ASSURED it will be fixed by end of day. [Narrator: It was not fixed by the end of the day] - Closing day. We sign papers. We go to inspect our new house and get keys. EVERYTHING IS STILL NOT FIXED. We yell at the construction manager, we call the regional and area manager. We are ASSURED it will be fixed before we move in the next day. - Moving day. We arrive at the house at noon. There are drywall workers with 5 gallon buckets of spackle, spray guns, and spatulas working all around the house. Plastic sheeting is spread on most of the floors. WE HAVE 3 MOVING TRUCKS OF STUFF ARRIVING IN 20 MINUTES. On the phone with Regional Manager who says they'll get done and out as fast as they can, but we need to not put stuff around the walls because they need to come back and paint the next day. So basically, we can move our stuff in but can't really unpack. It took a WEEK to resolve to the point that we could actually put furniture where it belonged. - Post move in, it took 6 WEEKS just to clear the Closing punch list (stuff that should have been fixed before closing). Contractors showed up with limited to zero information on why they were there, and us having to explain every time what needed to be done (this should be Highland Homes job, right?). - Post closing, still finding items that were clearly not installed correctly that should have been identified by any competent construction manager. Entry way doors with zero weather stripping as an example. - In the end, we love our new home's floor plan, our lot, and our neighborhood. But never again will we put up with such a horribly mismanaged construction process. ... More

Easy to work with during building process

Great experience during the whole construction project. I wish I could be informed more when the people were working on the house, that way I could see any things that wasn’t done properly.

Quality promised was not present after closing. I am not happy & I should be.

Although we didn’t begin the design process of our home, we were fortunate enough to snatch an inventory home a few weeks before completion. Through out the whole process from when we put down the earnest money, up until now two months into moving into our home, Highland Homes reps have been nothing but helpful and attentive to all our needs. I’m so glad we decided to go with Highland Homes over any other builder and I won’t hesitate to choose so again in our next home buying experience.

Quality of build is great. Materials do not feel cheap like other builders.
