Our overall experience was nothing short of amazing. From the very beginning, Tina made us feel confident and cared for. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making sure everything went smoothly. Preston was incredibly helpful every step of the way. No question was too small, no concern overlooked. He took the time to explain every detail and made sure we felt comfortable and informed throughout the entire process. We purchased the home when it was close to finished as it met our time line. After researching we were comfortable with Highland as they were rated better than most builders in the area. We were not able to see inside the walls as the drywall was up and all of the brick was up on the exterior. The buying process was easy. My issue is with some of the materials. Thermo Ply, Drip Edge or a similar product is used for sheathing. We knew that sheathing was used as almost all of the builders here in Texas use it because it is cheap and it can be cut with a knife, light weight as really it is glorified cardboard. Yes it passes code but it really should not. Especially in a climate like Texas with Tornados, high winds and driving rain. I just learned the house is not wrapped with Tyvek or a similar house wrap to the stop wind and moisture penetration. It is my fault as I did not do my due diligence. However I can't believe a house at the price we paid does not have this standard on every house Highland builds. It is not an expensive item. With no house wrap and cheap sheathing if there is water penetration the moisture is into the studs, insulation and then the drywall, causing mold, an unhealthy environment to live in and ultimately very expensive repairs. This is typically discovered many years later and the builder is long gone. We have other issues with the house which we are trying to get settled. This includes sloppy concrete and finish construction among other flaws. Not all of the materials are bad but the sheathing and lack of house wrap are very difficult for me to overlook. From the first step into the model home, Jessica perfectly balanced being available to answer questions with giving us space to explore. Jessica was always responsive through our whole process and quick to share details for any requests that we made. Jessica organized meetings for us when we were considering changes to the carpet. Jessica made us feel like we were her top priority. Adam, our construction manager, was thorough and proactive. Once we got closer to closing, Adam handled the meetings throughout the final stages. If I had a question of a concern, Adam would follow-up and make sure any corrections were completed. Adam also spent time helping me understand features of the house that were different from my previous homes and had on hand contacts with venders for any future needs I might have. We love our home and would highly recommend Highland homes as a builder. The quality of the build was top notch, and we appreciated D'Marco responding immediately to any issues we encountered after taking the keys. He did not hesitate to address any of our issues and that is not common for new builds. Highland takes pride in their work, and it clearly shows. I purchased a home that was part of the inventory so I didn't get to pick the various finishes or work with the team over the course of several months, but I felt like everyone went above an beyond to help get me settled. I was especially impressed with the team's help and follow up as various events occurred after purchase, like an ice storm and locking myself out of my vehicle. In a day in age where a lot of purchasing feels transactional and impersonal, I'm so grateful for that Highland Homes treats its customers like real people.

The team was professional throughout the process, responsive to our questions and helped to walk us through our first time building a home. We appreciated their expertise and are very happy with our home.

We purchased our Highland Home on a 70-foot lot in the La Cima community. While the home is visually attractive, we do not believe it was worth the price paid. Our appraisal came in below the contract price, and Highland strongly contested it, relying on trade adjustments rather than true comparable market sales to justify the higher value. There were also construction issues that should never occur at this price point. The exterior brick was installed incorrectly — set inside the foundation edges rather than flush or evenly overhanging — which resulted in a loss of interior square footage. We paid for several upgrades, yet every upgraded feature had quality issues. For example, the upgraded soft-close cabinets (a feature that is standard even in many lower-end builds) were poorly constructed and remain an ongoing issue to correct. The drywall and paint work throughout the home were subpar, with visible imperfections everywhere. The flooring appeared rushed and shortcuts were taken, including the use of quarter rounds to conceal poor workmanship. When those quarter rounds were later painted, paint was splattered onto the flooring, requiring multiple planks to be replaced. Overall, attention to detail was clearly lacking. The home felt rushed to meet closing deadlines rather than properly finished. Electrical outlets and switches were placed inconsistently or impractically. Doors consistently creak. Concrete work throughout the property looks unfinished and careless. Additionally, Highland offered a smart-home package to buyers who paid less than we did, then informed us midway through construction that the package was no longer available to us. Low-voltage wiring was improperly placed, incompatible, or missing altogether. While not legally required, we believe Highland had an ethical responsibility to disclose known safety concerns or potentially dangerous conditions or individuals in the area, which was not done. Based on our experience only and on our opinion only, we would not choose Highland Homes again and would advise prospective buyers to thoroughly inspect workmanship, upgrades, and pricing justification before proceeding. ... Heather was fantastic and put me at ease. I had a lot of questions and she knew everything. I have a serious finance background and she covered all of my questions with confidence that comes from experience. I was comfortable driving over from San Antonio and putting the house under contract in less than thirty minutes. Heather is a huge asset to the organization.

Overall, we are very happy with our Highland Home and truly love the house. The quality of the build is good, and as a builder myself, I can say the craftsmanship and overall construction met expectations. The sales process was excellent — smooth, professional, and easy from start to finish. That part of the experience was handled very well. Where things fell short was the customer service and punch-list process. Several items that were documented and supposed to be completed before move-in were not addressed. Some items were even marked as completed, only for us to discover they were not fixed and had to be added back to the list. Unfortunately, those items still have not been resolved. That inconsistency is the only reason this is not a 5-star review. The home itself is great, but the follow-through on repairs and communication could be improved. If Highland Homes strengthens the post-sale service and accountability on documented items, the experience would fully match the quality of the product they deliver. ... More

Buying a home can be extremely hectic. Lula not only provided guidance throughout the entire purchase process but often times going the extra mile answering calls/texts during off hours as well as taking time to explain to me in details of my questions or documents I don’t understand. Lane is professional and courteous. He paid great attention in details when doing home walk thrus and follows through timely on issue discovered either during walk through or responding to service requests. The people from Highland were really amazing at the time to buy the property. Everything went smoothly and was laid out point by point and followed to the dot. In regards to responsiveness they have been attentive and always making us feel as part of the community. I would definitely recommend them for building, ease of payment and warranty.

Initial contact was with Christi in sales. She was super helpful and so easy to work with. We continued to work with her till the house was handed off. There are so many ideas that she helped with. D'Marco was the construction project manager assigned. He addressed every single issue that was raised during construction to our satisfaction.
