Sharing my experience with the builder right from day one, I decided to go with this builder based on past reviews in YouTube videos. I had read in a few places that they were one of the best in the price range I was looking to buy our home. However, my experience turned out to be bittersweet. The first discussion and contract signing process were too hurried due to high demand and limited available lots. The sales agent even threatened to cancel the contract if it wasn't signed the next day. Moving on to the design studio, there weren't many choices available. The IBB design studio appeared disorganized, and the designer consultants seemed focused on rushing through the process. They stressed the importance of finishing the design within a stipulated time, or else we would be charged extra per hour for any delays. Then came the building process. Initially, our builder seemed nice, but after the concrete foundation was poured, they started rushing everything. They would threaten us to confirm certain selections immediately, or they would default to the standard builder-grade options. Many selections were not offered or given a choice, such as tinted bathroom windows. Our corner lot with a bathroom facing the main road could have benefited from a frosted window, but this option was never discussed. Another example was the insulated garage, which was offered to some buyers but not given as a choice to many, even though we were willing to pay for it. These are just a few examples, but there were many other missed opportunities that are difficult to cover. There were also construction inputs that were overruled or ignored. For instance, there was a sharp wooden stair end that posed a safety risk, especially for crawling babies. Lighting fixture and kitchen selection processes were confusing, and neither the builder nor the salespeople had a clear idea of what would be provided versus what was available. The building quality was average compared to other builders, as we often hear squeaky floors on the second floor, which indicates a lack of quality. Unfortunately, this is not covered under the warranty. The lawn was very poor, with hardly any topsoil. We noticed that sprinkler pipes were above ground and openly lying on top of the lawn. The backyard was uneven, causing water to not flow properly. Additionally, we opted for LVP flooring on the first floor, but in several places, we can clearly see that the flooring is floating and sinks down when stepped on. The builder informed us that LVP flooring would be floating, but the execution seems flawed. Overall, we noticed that our builder did not maintain a consistent standard for building homes. They would offer certain things for free to one buyer but charge the same amount to another buyer. They were not consistent across buyers and showed favoritism. Building a home is a big and lengthy process, and while we understand that each model comes with its own selections, the lack of consistency was disappointing. The electrical selection company, Highland Homes, was also a disappointment. They did not provide any choices and failed to educate many new buyers on what was needed or advise on certain selections. Very responsive to any and all issues, very friendly staff, nice home. Overpriced considering the finishes, etc…the price of being in this area.

Our overall buying experience was good. We were thoroughly informed about our options throughout the process and our sales rep always handled himself professionally, being plenty patient with any of our inquiries. Where Highland Homes becomes “just another builder out to make a quick buck” is with the integrity that follows moving in. Every builder misses things, but we figured that given Highland Home’s reputation, things would be different when it came to home repairs. We were wrong. We have been dealing with an issue concerning one of our appliances tripping a breaker. Initially, we were told by our project manager that Highland Homes has been experiencing this due to a new code being passed. They sent an electrician and he “assessed” both the dryer and their breaker. They “swapped out” a breaker and left it at that. The dryer continues to trip the breaker and they have now pivoted to asking that we either replace a wire on an appliance that was previously working perfectly, or better yet, have that wire completely removed, making it a fire hazard. The luster of being a new homeowner via Highland Homes has quickly faded. So be warned if you expect them to live up to their word. It truly is a shame that people operate this way, especially after such a meaningful purchase, but these companies are always ultimately out to make a profit and look the other way when held accountable. Everything during our home buying was extremely smooth from initial meeting with the salesman Zach in which case he is the absolute best to close. We couldn't have picked a better builder than Highland homes. Once our home was completed it was far above and beyond our expectations. We closed about 45 days ago and are still noticing little details in design that are absolutely fantastic! Highland is the way to go for a brand new home buying experience.

My experience hasn’t been good. I choose Highland because of their reputation, however they have NOT stood up to their name. There has been many errors and oversights throughout the entire process from incorrect ceiling heights, bathroom flooding, missing lights, texturing, painting etc., corrects are still being made which is NOT good howbeit some major and some minor. The contractors Do Not take pride or care in their work, their craftsmanship is poor which makes for a poor quality home. Maybe the more expensive lots have better builders and contractors but my experience has been awful. Buying experience was awesome….Highland Homes are great homes as expected with their modern designs…our construction manager Juan is great with helping us with any questions as needed…the closing date was on time or earlier as promised….overall we are very happy with our builder Highland Homes and would highly recommended to future buyers

For the price I paid and the interest on the loan, they should have taken more time to perfect the completions; have more space in the bathroom design, more patio space, and even a study room. Also, for the cost of the HOA we should have an indoor pool that we could use all year round.

If your sales person is Haeli then be specific to the details. She doesn’t provide you with any details as she thinks it doesn’t matter to us. But end of the day we are paying money so ask every detail of lot inside and outside of perimeter. These people just work for the money and don’t value you after signing the sales agreement. I realized cheap products being used in some places of the construction. Highland homes loan officer Lindsay, not provided any steps details. Loan process was not transparent. From start to finish this was an overall great experience. Everyone we came into contact with was more than helpful and very responsive to any and all concerns. We highly recommend Highland Homes.

I Love my Highland Home!

I have highlighted the issues from visual inspection prior closing and engaged a third-party inspection company to do the home inspection. Majority of the issues are unattended despite several follow-up by email, text messages and phone calls.

From the beginning, working with Highland Homes was so seamless. Our consultant Haleigh was so responsive and helpful in walking us through the various floor plans and add on options to build a home that was perfect for us. Once we landed on the Middleton plan, we were connected with our project manager Robbie. Robbie is fantastic, extremely knowledgeable, and thorough. He sent us weekly email updates and was very responsive to questions/concerns. Our only area of concern was after we closed on the house. We had a few areas to touch up during our final walk and the crew sent in lacked attention to detail and some aspects felt rushed. The concrete in our front entrance was a different color, plaster on the gutters, paint on floors, etc. Overall, this did not tarnish our experience because the home is beautiful and Robbie has been so responsive to our concerns and made proper repairs and touch ups. Overall experience has been pretty good. Any issue has been addressed quickly. Some issues can not be remedied. Hanging a flush mount mirror on a curved wall (where it is supposed to be straight) presented challenges. Some walls/trim were installed without a chalk line or an L square and because floor tiles are true, it is apparent. It does not affect function of wall, just appearance.

We purchased a home in Sandbrock and could not be more pleased with the quality of the construction, ease of doing business and customer care demonstrated by our builder, Glen. The entire experience beginning with Beau in the Sales office and Debbie from Highland Finance was terrific all the way through to closing. We highly recommend this team and Highland Homes for a great home ownership experience. The quality of the construction, fit and finish of the home and customer care demonstrated by this team is outstanding!

They went above and way beyond expectations. Extremely responsive to my concerns. Worked hard to assure every thing in the punch list was addressed quickly and correctly. Highly recommend Highland Homes.

Quality of home is great.

The build process was great, seamless process. The only issue I had is I didn’t get the exact paint trim on the exterior of my home.

Me and my family had to relocate to Texas, and we had a ton of anxiety as well as concerns about how quickly we can move into a new home. However, we worked with a local realtor and they identified a location in Rockwall where a house was due to be completed in December. We reached out to the agent, and she was very accommodating and connected with the project manager that was working the house. After a couple of months, they were very responsive to all of our requests and assisted us where needed.
