We absolutely love our Highland Home! Ryan and Dave went above and beyond throughout the entire process. Communication and service was top notch. Even after the build process, Dave checks in on us while juggling other properties. We are Highland Home lifers. Thank you for making our dreams come true and then some.

We are so grateful to have Zach , Mike, and Trystan. Trystan has been always responsive and keeps us in the loop of when we will get things fixed/repaired. We are glad we closed with Highland even though there were lil issues here and there- because the care we received after closing is very impressive. Our project manager didn't just forget us.... but is still within our reach and responsive. We appreciate it. Especially with all the horror stories you read on other builders.... we are definitely glad we went with Highland Homes.

Ana the sales lady for highland homes in Mustang lakes is never at work and is completely not responsive, to get in touch, to make an offer by us or our agent was terrible. The only experience worse than that, is the builder Brian. Highland signed documentation to complete work within 2 weeks of closing. It’s been 2 months and not a thing has been done. We either are ignored or straight lied to. We have missed multiple days of work to be here for work to be done, only for no one to show and no response from Highland. I would not recommend anyone buy a home with highland. We have already sent 3 prospective buyers to other builders (2 in contract) in mustang lakes. This is my third Highland home purchase & Shawn was, by far, the most knowledgeable and proactive builder we have ever had! His experience is apparent from the time you meet him & his attention to detail is appreciated. One would expect that after the sell of the home, you would not see or hear from the builder again, but this is not the case with Shawn. He stops by to check on us & make sure everything is functioning in our new home. Overall, he made the experience top notch by offering excellent customer service & building a great home! We feel very fortunate he built ours!

Doug was our builder. Despite going through this process from another state, his weekly updates and supper responsive for all of our questions have made this process very smooth and seamless. There were countless time where he helped made our decisions easier and we appreciate his professionalism throughout the process.

We are very impressed with the process from the beginnig of the construction to handover. Ashley and Caleb did a good job in each and every steps of the building process.

The sense of urgency ,great communication up until closing. it's been a hassle to get the house completed and repaired Just get a completed house then worry bout the little repairs

*For perspective, I have 24 years in the building industry (sales side) and built my last 2 homes in another state with other builders. My comments below are beyond the normal issues all new build have. What is not included is the lack of follow up, attention to details and planning. This home build with Highland has been rough. Tears, frustration, unease and distrust all flowed thru my family….but we went thru the build because we had no other options because we moved from out of state. Currently about 2 months into the home and we still have major repairs going on, here is a quick recap in the current state, I am grouping it by locations. Inside: General -curved walls due to bad framing. -holes were punched into the Sheetrock all around the home to find a bad wire because the power in the bath would not turn on….the breaker was tripped. Now have variations in the wall texture because no one looked at the breaker box before punching holes into the wall. -paint issues all around the home, painter had been back multiple times, just takes the tape off the wall and moves on. If any painting were done, paint drips and splatter ended up everywhere. Outside -had 3 driveways poured. 1 was cracked, 1 was installed with a expansion line that veered off 8” from center. The latest driveway has a significant chunk taken out of it and patched…also tool grind marks are in the driveway. I gave up on having a decent driveway put in and instead asked for a nicer sidewalk for compensation. They will do that…just have been left with no sidewalk, just a hole in the ground for several days. -the front profile of the house was compromised by weather proofing wrapping around the front of the home, unlike the model or other homes….it was just faster for this Sub. They corrected it but left black glue marks on the front brick. -several brick were left off the house and the soffit/gutters were installed leaving a 8”x4” hole in the side of the house. This “passed inspection”. -soffit boards and trim was cut short, leaving 2 more holes at the back of the home. Also passed “inspection”. -3 areas where we had stucco, 3 different profiles. Had to have them replace it to all match -had to redo the fireplace outside on the patio, the firebox was installed crooked. Also had to redo the whole front of the brick and hearth, crooked, cracked and glue was on it. Also needed a new mantel. -new front window was needed, scratched. -needed a new front door, the change order was not followed. -holes in the front porch brick/grout/mortar. Had to have them back twice to correct. -the front of the house had the wrong stain installed, had to get a new garage door and shutters. -shingles had to be replaced, brick debris stained the shingles. Living Room/Kitchen -for the first walk thru before Sheetrock, they had the wrong plans/no change orders. (Also didn’t bring a pencil, I lent mine I had on me). -fireplace was built to the small version, paid for the floor to ceiling and for a floating mantle. Had to tear out the corbels and add the top of the fireplace…5 different grout lines and uneven brick work on top create a wave effect. Had to tear it out to try again, still was poor workmanship (this time there was cracks in the brick from the tear out). Had to tear it all out and reinstall, this one looks good. -Flooring, in the process of the fireplace being fixed, they installed the wood floor and left it u protected, leaving chunks taken out of the floor from falling bricks. -back patio door is not squared up the transom above it, ordered the wrong size door. No fix for this besides hiding it with curtains (this is their current solution) -the wrong cabinets were ordered, the Change Order had no wine cabinets and instead regular cabinets put in. They installed the wine cabinets. -many doors and drawers in the kitchen have touch up not completed after several follow ups. -countertop had a deep gouge. -the top crown above the hutch was stalled crooked due to ceiling issues. -wood floor had oil stains on it from construction. -wood floor had been split, carpet installers nailed into the wood floor. Master Bath/closet -the wrong closet for the master was wrong, did not follow the change order. -once the right one was installed, the profile was not like the model. It was explained that there is 3 versions of this closet that Highland Corp designed and there is no way to know which one will be installed. We not have it corrected with nail holes visible , cut marks and glue painted over in a gloopy fashion. -master bath had a leaking window. -the tile has cut ends in the shower with paint on those ends, already peeling 2 months in. Should have used trike trim Upstairs/stairs -the skirt board on the stairs had 2 profiles, leaving up to 1” holes on one side where the riser and the tread meet. The solution was too stuff carpet into those holes so we wouldn’t see it. Also had a handrail that looked like a ski jump. As if this review, this is still not done. They fixed most of this, but caused enough damage that there needs to be another major tear out. -wrong carpet was installed upstairs. -all the bathrooms upstairs had their shower handles installed incorrectly, there is no fix for this unless the whole bath wall is torn out. -the window upstairs with an arch, had to be redone 3 times. Main floor -wrong tile installed in the powder room, they still installed the sink and toilet on top of it. New tile and grout has left behind stains on the trim. There is so much more , but getting tired of writing. Hope this paints a picture of the issues involved and why a 1 star is justified. ... More

Our buying experience started off great. The sales rep was responsive and helpful. After we signed the paperwork and design appointment were completed the service started declining. Although the construction manager reported updates almost weekly, we had questions and small changes that were treated as huge inconveniences. Our construction timeline ended right around the original projected date, but when we went through the walk through we were given instructions not to complete the full checklist as “it wasn’t necessary”. While the construction and foundational work seems sound, the finishings were, for lack of a better word, sloppy. Many corners of the walls were not completely painted, there were many spots on the baseboards where large areas of damage that were just painted over, almost every single window opening is very uneven (so much so that the person who measured for blinds commented several times), paint is messy in the powder room, there was paint overspray all over the floors, the caulking all throughout the house looks like it was done by a 5 year old, almost all of our fixtures were not level, the paint was peeling on most of the door hinges, the door to the garage had the wrong type of stopper installed so it broke the first day we moved in and damaged the wall, and there was a piece of the flooring that wasn’t completely attached. Of all of these items, the only one that has been mostly addressed was changing out the stopper on the door, although the damage on the door was simply painted over. Highland Homes as builder had a good name but in the recent home buying experience I felt little bit different. The construction work took one year to complete and the work was not up to the standard. Even though after pointing out lot of issues and errors in construction it took too much time for them to correct it. The repairs which were supposed to be done prior closing was left out and I was told by the builder that it will be done asap, but it was a false promise. Even today those repairs which was supposed to be done prior closing is not done and I was told to submit a warranty claim for those repairs. I don't understand why should I submit a warranty claim when it should have been done as a part of building process. When I went to the sales office to get more info about this, I was told not to come here and I was advised to contact the person responsible for the construction about this. I send emails but no answer yet. I felt this negligence during the construction period and in many occasions I witnessed slowness. ... More

Dustin was simply incredible - and exceeded our expectations in quality, professionalism and authenticity/trustworthiness. We've been in our home for almost two months now and are still receiving compliments on the quality and craftsmanship of the home. Even our independent inspector was complimentary of the quality of the home and Highland as a builder during a time when many builders were cutting corners due to the pandemic impacts on every industry. Our experience with Dustin was so great that my sister (who we were staying with during our build) and her husband decided to build a Highland home and join the Highland family after seeing our journey and hearing about our experience with the Highland team (Dustin, Ryan and Sarah). The house is well design overall. The price was reasonable.

The entire team from Sia to construction manager Alex to those in between with Alice and Miya were all great. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. It was a great experience. I would definitely recommend Highland Homes, but especially this particular team.

The staff at Highland are amazing, very trustworthy and responsive. The quality of the house is medium - I believe because they are building so many at one time, the time to ensure details (i's dotted and t's crossed) need improving. I would suggest they ensure a team at highland is conducting a thorough check before the house is released to the buyers (lots of details - paint especially was not well done, and comparing to my former custom built home in a different state - material quality is low). It is not as stressful because the staff is very responsive to ensuring 100% customer satisfaction, so that makes a big difference. ... More

The part that impressed me the most is the quality of the home building experience. From the materials they use to the managers who work directly with the homebuyers, we felt very taken care of with Highland Homes.

Carol (Sales) was extremely helpful throughout the buying/building process. She answered our many questions on a timely basis (even on her days off) or referred them to the construction manager. She also worked very well with our realtor representative from Coldwell Banker, Amanda. John (construction manager) always replied to our questions quickly and on several occasions came to the house to explain different aspects of the construction process to us. He kept us fully aware of the construction timeline which was a big concern of ours. Excellent job on his part. Tim (construction manager) came on late in the building process and has been working with us on follow-up items mostly. He also has answered many questions in and out of the house and has been easy to communicate with on some outstanding issues. Doing an excellent job on those. Had a very awesome experience, I have nothing but praises for the highland group.

We have lived in the townhome since October this year. We like the community and the design and the overall quality of construction of the building for the price.

Owning my own house has always been my greatest dream and it finally came true two months ago when I moved into my new Highland house. The quality is great for the budget I invested in. And my contact Mr.Clayton Coffee has been very professional and responsive when I did encountered a few issues. Great house and I am very glad I made the right choice on Highland Homes.

We had a great experience throughout the entire process of working with highland and the development of our home over the course of a year. It started with a great visit to the model home where the sales woman Edna gave us a tour in person of every single floor plan they offered. She was extremely knowledgeable about all of their homes and even showed us around pecan square. Taking that extra step and showing us instead of just talking to us about everything made our experience feel personalized. After signing our contract, we were partnered with the designer and construction manager both of whom continued the personalized experiences. No matter who you work with at highland, everyone is very communicative, honest and upfront. Although their floor plans are top notch, I t’s the small details that make a highland home stand out—the extra tall doors, the light fixture selection, to the quality of cabinets and well thought out floor plan. Even after closing when we have found minor things that need fixing, they always promptly respond and send someone over to fix it. Your mind will rest easy when working with highland. ... More

Sadly, my experience with Highland has been very unfavorable. I can not recommend them. I’ve been in my home for 2.5 months and am still having workers out every week to install missing items and repairing faulty work.

This building experience has been by far the worst build I’ve been a part of. This is my third build and haven’t experienced anything quite like this. We are over two months in and are still having contractors in and out every few days. The windows have been by far the worst part of the build. We are still owed one window which does not properly latch and now allows cold air in. We had several items that were promised to be taken care of before we moved in which were not met. We were reluctant to sign since they had not been addressed. We were promised these would be resolved within two weeks. That wasn’t and still isn’t the case. We keep getting told it’s the window vendor that keeps falling short. I have repeatedly taken PTO from work to make time for the contractors coming in and out. At this point our realtor mentioned we should be getting some sort of compensation or upgrades at no charge for all the headaches we’ve been put through. I agree!! The construction manager just shrugged that off as a joke! It wasn’t by any means! At this point it would just be nice to have everything resolved at once without any further delays. I would never build another Highland Home or recommend one to a family or friend. Our realtor feels the same! ... More

I truly wish I could provide a more positive review, however, I think due to the timing of my build/purchase, my Highland experience was less than expected. I was aware of Highland's reputation as a quality builder, positive reviews per research I did, and recommendation from realtor, so I focused on purchasing a Highland home. Due to several issues, I'm running into now, I believe the building of my home was "rushed" and that certain quality control mechanisms were missed. I do attribute some of these issues due to building demand and market conditions during the Q2-Q3'2022 timeframe. However, based on Highland's reputation combined with the price I was paying for the house, I expected a more positive experience. General issues included missed due dates for installations/repairs, lack of proactive notifications and follow up (I usually was reaching out to either the sales team or project coordinator for updates), continued unresolved repair issues. Part of the problem may be due to lack of subcontractor control and volume of business with resources being spread very thin. Unfortunately, I felt I was unnecessarily caught in the middle and that I was not a priority for the team hence the low rating. ... More
