Building a home is often a dream come true, filled with anticipation and excitement. Unfortunately, our experience with Highland Homes has been more of a cautionary tale, underscored by significant disappointment in both the quality of materials, craftsmanship and the responsiveness of their team. From the onset, we were drawn to Highland Homes by their seemingly stellar reputation and the promise of quality and engagement. However, as the project progressed, it became increasingly clear that our expectations would not be met and we were just a number in their budget. Our journey, which should have been paved with professionalism and precision, was instead marred by delays and oversight in the interest of profitability. One of the most glaring issues we are still facing is the incomplete state of our home nearly two months after closing. Please, DO NOT close on your home if it is not perfect to you! The moment you close, all urgency and responsiveness will dissipate. It is profoundly disheartening to report that major components, such as our front doors, are still missing despite having been chosen roughly one year ago in the design center. This oversight, one of dozens leaves a sour taste in what should be a celebratory new chapter in our lives. Attempts to resolve these issues have been met with a concerning lack of urgency and indifference. The responsiveness of the Highland Homes team has been less than satisfactory, leaving us in a state of limbo. The communication gaps and delayed responses have only exacerbated our frustrations, making it difficult to trust their commitment to customer satisfaction. While there are aspects of the home that reflect the quality Highland Homes is known for, these are overshadowed by the significant shortcomings in both delivery and service. It is unfortunate that our experience does not align with the high standards they advertise. Speaking with neighbors who had also chosen Highland Homes, our experience unfortunately appears to be the norm in Mustang Lakes. I wish we would have walked around the neighborhood and spoken to people before making such a significant commitment. In transparency, our realtor strongly favored Highland Homes but we have also learned that is likely due to their extremely generous realtor program rather than an unbiased recommendation. Highland Homes has the potential to deliver beautiful homes, our experience suggests that they fall short in key areas of execution and customer care. We hope that sharing our story will encourage the company to reflect on their processes and improve for the sake of future homeowners. For prospective buyers, we recommend proceeding with caution and a readiness to advocate strongly for your expectations. I didn’t move into Paloma Creek. I moved into wildflower ranch. Ginger was knowledgeable and supportive throughout our homebuying experience. Our superintendent, Aaron was attentive to our needs and followed through on request in a timely manner.

Did not enjoy my experience with sales at all. Kathi and her team did not make this a great experience. There were times where I’d call or walk in and they’d ask me my name even though I had been under contract for three months!!! There are also way to many points of contact, I was getting emails and calls from 4 different sales people throughout our build. Pricing for upgrades is outrageous and included features could be better. As someone who works in the industry and has sold semi custom homes, I was even shocked when we went to design. Some of the prices were so high our designer didn’t even want to give them to us. Our builder Geoffrey on the other hand was amazing! He had good follow up and follow through. Whenever we had a question he would either have an answer or get one for us. Highly recommend him, he was personable & thorough. Of course there were delays and things didn’t always go as planned, but he made sure to communicate and resolve the issues in a timely manner. It's all because of Rayshell and Michael...they were professional, thorough and patient with us. We bought it from the website, out of state and needed to sell our home. Rayshell and Matt, the builder, worked us through the process so seamlessly and considerate of our every need. We LOVE our home and we're so grateful to them...thank you!

Overall the buying experience with HH has been good. The sales team as well as the project manager have been very cooperative and always heard our concerns. Todd, Ivonne and Dillon were always helpful. I cannot say the same with HH third party vendors whether it is low voltage or high voltage. A well linked document tracking with all changes is something HH can improve upon. It wasn't easy to track. Construction quality was good but painting needs significant improvement. I still see lots of patches across the inside walls. Unimportant, but it would have made a huge difference, normally, all builders give a nice hamper (chocolates, wine , hand towels with our names) at the time of closing. No such thing was provided. We had a wonderful experience buying our first home with Highland homes. We were recommended to Highland Homes by our real-estate agent as one of the best home builders in Texas. We've had several opportunities to work with Highland Homes, this being the first home we completed with them, and our experiences with them have been harmonious and impressive. They go over and above in many ways, and we know first hand that other large builders would not offer the same. The biggest problem we did encountered was with the design center and the selection of certain home items. The kitchen cabinets were far darker than they appeared in the design center but Highland Homes very graciously offered some alternatives that met the need perfectly! For this we are so grateful! There were other little issues with the design center where more guidance was needed but not provided but should we do this again, we will know to do our own research and get more information before deciding. We've built homes before and did not have this issue so this was a learning experience. The only other things I would mention have to do with communication with the sales team. They were always very cheerful and ready to help but some key information was not given to us until we were fully committed to this property and house. Such as the extent of lawn and landscape that we are responsible for involves common areas outside our lot. Areas that, in our experience, had always been cared for by the HOA in those communities. The HOA here while being far more expensive does not care for these areas and the restrictions on said landscape are nonnegotiable. We felt this was very poorly handled and unfair to us. There have been some disappointments in other things with work by their sub contractors. Sprinkler system, lawn and tree health and growth. Quality of some of the workmanship that sub contractors have had to return to correct or fix. But this has been addressed quickly by Highland Homes with plenty of follow up by the builder to ensure our satisfaction. Everything is just average

Our experience with Highland Homes has been nothing short of exceptional! The entire process was smooth and well-communicated from the initial purchase to the move-in day. I had quite a few issues with my home initially, but they were resolved. I am still having issues with contractors cursing at me when I ask them to move their vehicles from blocking my driveway or making it impossible to drive on the street. I would not recommend being the first in the neighborhood. Especially if you work from home.

Bought a move-in ready home and remote closing (lived out of state). Have a few issues in the home and the construction manager (CM) is not responsive. For example, the screws on the garage door lever/arm fall apart (Yes, in a brand new house!!) and the lever got disengaged from the rails. CM didn't take it seriously for quality of the product that was delivered and he refused to cover it under warranty. Moved-in late January and still some of the issues in the house have not been fixed. Not a great expereince and we couldn't justify the premium paid to purchase a home from Highland!!

The buying experience was excellent, but days later after we closed started seeing a lot of issues. The biggest issue was our backyard not draining very well and started killing the grass and Highland didn’t want to do anything about it, saying they don’t warranty against puddles, but they weren’t ordinary puddles. However, they did finally fix the issue. The other major issue had to do with our glass back door. It has scratches in the glass that Highland will not fix, because it’s cosmetic. I know that we didn’t put the scratches there, it happened during the build. We missed it during our final walk through, because the builder concentrated us on the inside of the home. Highland did not due a thorough inspection. Definitely spent the money for an inspection!!!! We deserve our back door fixed because we did not do that, but they will not! ... More

Scott, Colleen, and Jeff truly made buying and building a home in Star Trail a pain-free experience. So much so, that we recommended Highland Homes to our in-laws who have started a build with them as well.

We had a great experience working with Shawnette and Dexter. At first we were a little concerned because we started with a different construction manager, but Dexter was great to work with. He picked up where the other manager left off without any issues. They made the process easy. We were kept in the loop with weekly email updates from the moment of ground breaking through completion. They always did what they promised to do and were quick to respond if we had questions. The quality of Highland Homes is top tier. I would say to anyone looking to purchase a new home you wont go wrong with Highland Homes. The quality of their homes and the customer service you receive from the team can’t be beat. Xavi was so incredibly responsive and transparent, he made sure we felt valid in any concern, cared for with any repairs/issues that we came across, and responsive with any and all communications. Overall it was a great experience and we cannot thank Xavi enough. We did choose to go through a separate lender than Highland to avoid extra "fees" added to our loan to offset a "discount/incentive" that Highland Home Loans was claiming. All of that incentive was nearly wiped out with their extra fees and frequent pressuring to sign documents and commit as quickly as possible. The quality of the home seems outstanding and Highland has been responsive with minor issues that have arisen. I am very happy with my experience two months into the move.

Such a shame. Our first home in Texas was a Highland Home so when we decided to downsize to a townhome we purchased a Highland Home. This was a disastrous mistake!!! Everything from the salesperson to building team has been negative. I do not want to ramble on an on because I definitely could with all of bad experiences. I will just say this. The materials and the craftsmanship are TERRIBLE. Its a battle to fix these things and I don't think it will ever be as it should be. I'm very sorry we closed on this townhome. We should have not moved forward and lost our deposit.

This is our second Highland home, we absolutely love working with them. They do not only cater to all your needs but help you out if there is any issues or concerns. We moved to Texas from Pennsylvania during the Christmas holidays and everyone at Highland homes made the transition effortless, Darren was amazing from start to finish, from the start of the process until the end. Frankie was extremely knowledgeable in all areas of real estate. Thank you Highland homes you guys are amazing!
