The actual buying, and designing was pretty good. The build process was an absolute nightmare; builder communication was horrible if it occurred at all. The issue was not a lack of materials, it was over sights of the design of the home, not following the blue prints. Over all I would not recommend Highland, if I had to do it again I would of chosen a different builder.

great value however terrible service from builder we were assigned to. certainly did not uphold the Highland Homes reputation of professionalism and quality.

Very disappointed. Was encouraged to buy a Highland home for the quality and their workmanship reputation but this is not what I have experienced. The quality of products used is of a very low grade material, the wood trim in the house has very noticeable blemishes, knots and bumps and is very rough causing the paint to constantly flake off. The kitchen sink immediately rusted, it was replaced promptly but it is still a low grade quality stainless so it stains and spots up and if a pan is set in it for a minute it rust the sink, I have never had any of my stainless steel sinks do this. The floors look like a wash board, very uneven they look terrible also they still have glue on them that they have not been able to get off after three attempts. I was told by Highland you cant get concrete even and you can only smooth out so much of an area with the human arm span??? Really this is insulting to my intelligence, I have had tile and wood floors installed in my previous homes and it did not look like this, there are products to prevent this when done properly. The ceiling and walls show defects badly the ceilings have waves this is caused when the sheet rock is not done properly. Many issues have been fixed like one of many the tile work that had been broken on installation where they just grouted between the break instead of replacing. The concrete work at the front entrance and the patio is terrible the entrance was refinished twice but still looks awful so with all this I worry now about the integrity of the slab. When I went to clean out the windows out I found two fly's that were in there when they painted and they just painted over the top of the fly's. Clearly the contractors they use are low grade as well and they obviously don't care and no one from Highland cares either or supervises these contractors. The blinds they installed are the cheapest possible, they want stay in place. I have no confidence in the quality, stability and integrity of this home I feel like that with this many things wrong that we have seen and are still finding, how many major things are wrong that we cannot see and have not come to light yet and will fall apart after the warranty is out and before they should. It is so disappointing and has stressed me out so much and has made it impossible for me to enjoy my new home. I think the amount of money paid for this home warrants better products and workmanship this was not a low end home. I have owned several homes and this is the worst conditions and experience I have ever incurred. I would welcome and challenge someone from the Corporate Highland homes office to come see my house, I would love to hear their opinion after they have walked through this house. I don't know if something has happened with Highland that has driven the quality and workmanship to go down hill or maybe just an initiative to cut cost to make more money at the home owners expense or the people just do not care anymore. Where is quality control? At this point I would say be very cautious if you are considering a Highland home. The guys at the local field office I have dealt with have been responsive but this does not make up for the issues that I have found. We have been in our home for less than half a year. We have had to chase our builder down to fix the mistakes they made/left - prior to moving in, we had an inspector come out to our home. We were informed that all items on the inspection report had been addressed. I made the mistake of trusting highland homes. It has been about 5 months and we are still dealing with issues in this home. I wish we never purchased this home.

Bought a move-in ready home and remote closing (lived out of state). Have a few issues in the home and the construction manager (CM) is not responsive. For example, the screws on the garage door lever/arm fall apart (Yes, in a brand new house!!) and the lever got disengaged from the rails. CM didn't take it seriously for quality of the product that was delivered and he refused to cover it under warranty. Moved-in late January and still some of the issues in the house have not been fixed. Not a great expereince and we couldn't justify the premium paid to purchase a home from Highland!!

Such a shame. Our first home in Texas was a Highland Home so when we decided to downsize to a townhome we purchased a Highland Home. This was a disastrous mistake!!! Everything from the salesperson to building team has been negative. I do not want to ramble on an on because I definitely could with all of bad experiences. I will just say this. The materials and the craftsmanship are TERRIBLE. Its a battle to fix these things and I don't think it will ever be as it should be. I'm very sorry we closed on this townhome. We should have not moved forward and lost our deposit.

From my experience (first and the LAST) with Highland homes is that they used very very cheep materials. we moved in little over a month now, the master bedroom closet where we hang clothes fell off with the metal bar, on the other side the brackets bending down and the wood piece coming off the wall. both garage doors making scary noise when goes up. kitchen entry door from garage always hits the pantry doors, also highland painted the door hinges. first of all I believe using dead cheep materials and poor supervision caused these issues,

Do your research regarding EVERY home builder, the craftsmanship, the integrity, the build and do not just go off beautiful model homes or beautiful, new communities. Do your research on WHO you can expect living in a brand new area, try to avoid sales talk at all times and be your own salesperson / get a team you personally trust who will have your best interest at heart. Build with a company who builds fairly, prices fairly even if it is more than you want it to be, but focus on all the small details, quality, the different crews and how they treat your property, and any and all members who you have to deal with along the way making sure you state your requirements and expectations. Don't let too much time go by wasted without a lack of responses, handing things poorly with communication, quality, and dealing with non-English speaking individuals who will only make it stressful for you and the environment. Document everything, take pictures of everything, and if your budget is being overstretched, consider going with another reputable, high-quality, more designer so you can actually get what you want and what you expected from the beginning. LOCATION and area is everything, and who is all going to live in your community. Keeping in mind HOA will not do much nor help much at all even though you pay them each month - they are only there to ensure the community looks pretty, stays uniformed and has events to celebrate. ... Things not completed on time. Poor workmanship. Poor delivery. Poor quality of craftsmanship. Poor commitment to homeowner! No ETA. After 3 months into the home, still have so many issue pending. You have forced me to decide that I don't want to live in this house for longer than I have to. No one even thinks like that for a rental home.

We had great expectations when we initially signed in for Highland homes at Lakewood at Brookhollow, prosper but later our experience with the sales and the builder turned to be the worst. It is unfortunate even after paying such a hefty price for the new home by Highland we had to face such an ordeal and still struggling to get many issues fixed. All the work is contracted and there is no proper inspection of the work post completion by the contractor. House was handed to us with many pending issues. The builder took advantage of the fact that we were not in a position to reschedule the closing and left many open items unaddressed. No proper response even after repeated follow up. No proper information provided. Pragmatic living conditions not taken into consideration. Many upgrades were ignored and we had to specifically point out and get the rework done. I would never buy a Highland home again and would recommend anyone buying a new home to find another builder. The sales team is unresponsive, the Highland lending team (which they incentivize you to use) is incompetent, and the quality of work for the actual house is far less quality than you would expect for paying such a high price. We’ve had multiple things wrong with the house, damage to our personal property, and 2 months in to purchasing the house we still have so many things to fix. I wish we never bought a home from Highland and I will never again.

Highland Homes are beautiful but they seem to lack the quality a home at this price point deserves. From small things like caulking, cabinets, landscaping and heating and cooling. The buyer really has to pay attention to the whole home. I feel like I needed an inspector with me as I went thru the home. Highland has a great reputation but the experience was a major let down. There should be a quality manager that ensures the workmanship meets Highland Homes standards and reputation.

Sia and Miya were horrible in the end!! The beginning was great!! Until they received our money then it was crickets, no response to any emails no returned phone calls or texts. Daniel started off slow with responding but ended up being awesome.

Not Great experience with Highland Homes

If i do have a choice I will not buy any highland homes, they never mentioned all throughout the home construction and buying process that I bought a house beside sewer facility, The only time i knew when I send my own inspector a day prior to closing. There are so many unwated experience during construction process. They respond poorly for any warranty.

there are so many mistakes and issues in home we can literally tell it just by looking at it, the builder assigned to us is not cooperative at all, in some situations he is adament and not willing to fix the fundamental problem , we still have so many outstanding issues that are not taken care properly from Paint, Irrigation issues etc... I hope Highland home sees this review and gets back to me to resolve those issues..

Pranay - since we moved to this house we have odor smell issue which is from WWTP and he is beside of our house. While signing I have asked sales team what was that and they have said it is some water plant and they didn’t mentioned about about WWTP. We are getting that smell in our bedrooms. I didn’t expect this kind of customer service with false stamtement before signing the contracts.

Quality is horrible. Sloppy work. Overpriced. Will Not recommend. House is up for sale. Too many problems.Going to Toll Brothers. Will not recommend!

Not to the standard that we expected. We've been living here for 3 months and the issues are still not completed. We keep finding more the longer we live here. Would not recommend Highland Homes to anyone

Are you looking for frozen hot water pipes during Christmas. Or perhaps a leaky roof that soaks into the garage drywall. Maybe bad finishes are more of your thing. Exterior doors that do not seat evenly into their door frames, interior doors installed unevenly and do not seat evenly (top of the door sits at a 10 degree angle), baseboard corners do not meet and are filled with caulk, cracked interior door trim that is sloppy filled with caulk and not sanded smooth, unevenly spaced tile, stained grout, visible seams in drywall, (drywall crew can’t do butt joints), crocked drywall due to crocked framing, damaged windows, 1 leaking window. The Highlands construction crew was kind enough to leave a 40oz beer bottle of beer festering within my bathtub cavity. The only reason I found it was because the tile in our master bath had to be re-tiled after fighting with the builder to correct an issue where shower water was spraying through the shower frame into the adjacent bath tub area. Also note that the construction crew that did this repair did not clean up their work area. I did and that’s when I discovered the bottle of booze. I am a first time home buyer that worked hard to save up a down payment for a new construction build so I could focus on my career. Instead my time has been consumed meticulously photographing the bad construction of this home and learning about proper construction methods so I can push back against the builders when they tell me the issues I point out, aren’t actually issues. This gaslighting from Highland homes and their unapologetic behavior is the cherry on top. Let them sit on their inventory. Their homes are not worth what they are priced when they can even execute simple tasks like properly insulating hot water pipes. This is spelled out in the contract. There are so many more issues I can share but I want this to be digestible for viewers thinking about buying from Highland Homes. Questions you should ask: How much experience does the project manager have? Not the guy listed on the contract, signing the paperwork - the actual employee overseeing construction and communicating with the buyer? Will the Highland Homes sales agent inform the buyer if any branded build materials are swapped out for a lesser brand? If the interior of cabinets are damaged, will the builder replace the cabinet wood or opt to cover the damage with wood looking sticker? Will my kitchen cabinets fit neatly within the nock like the Highland Home’s model? If not how will Highland Homes resolve the issue? Are the hot water pet pipes insulted from end to end to prevent freezing? If the installation of my exterior doors do not match the same quality I experience at the Highland Home’s model how will Highland Homes resolve the issue? Can I get this in writing? Should I expect my home to include any unfinished rooms that are not highlighted in the build plan? Is there any insulation between your wood flooring and the concrete slab? Is there any underlayment between your tile and slab to prevent tile from cracking? Now that mortgage interest rates are sitting at new highs I suspect home buyers are not rushing to lock-in interest rates and put earnest money down on these new construction homes. Please take your time. Hire a lawyer to review your contract and hire an inspector to inspect the home before the drywall goes up and before you close. I share this information not to bad mouth Highland Homes but to share my honest accounting of my experience. Our home buying experience with Highland Homes was horrible. The builder we worked with did not respect my wife or our realtor during the final walk thru. He told us what he was not going to complete during that time. We choose to close on 12/15/22 but was promised by the builder all items would be finished in 10 days that did not take place. It’s is 2/8/23 and we are still dealing with him and our master bathroom is still not done. It took us calling highland corporate and sending him multiple emails to get any response from him. His manager has not been much better with communication. Since our bathroom title was cracked the manager said Highland would get us a check so we could replace it after the fact and we still don’t have that. My experience with Highland Homes has been poor. First using their partner lender, they increased the amount of down payment I owed by $8K at the 11th hour for something they could have found out months in advance. Once I moved into the house, the finish work on some of the tile, paint, and door casings was actually terrible. All of the issues of the home inspection have still yet to be resolved. I closed on Dec 16 and am writing this on Feb 3. Highland preaches their build quality and customer service and I have not had a positive experience with either.

I would advise others to be careful with this builder. Quality of my home was not anything like the model and home has many design issues with many repairs needed again and again. Don’t believe the stories of company values and how they always do the right thing. They don’t. When you need help with repairs and general problems with your home they will turn their back on you.
