This is our third home, and it is the best yet! We love this house. Patrick is also super responsive to our concerns.

Had to have brick removed and redone. The mail did not get delivered to community mails boxes for a month. The internet and fiber optic did not work until a month after we moved in. The caulking in house is already cracking & the corners of many rooms are cracking. I come home the other day with a giant hole in my front yard with no warning so i had no idea it was going to take place and was told they needed to run stuff (Electric) for the other part of development. No one told me that my front yard was the right of easement i guess we are supposed to know this.m It has been 5 days and counting with a hole in my front yard. I am the corner house and 2 months into living in my new home the handicap ramp is still just dirt and have been told many times it is scheduled but still nothing. ... More

We moved from MS for work and have really enjoyed the options in housing. Highland was a great fit for us.

Highland homes have gone above and beyond everything we have expected in a home builder. We noticed some things that we though could have been addressed by simply sanding and repainting but the builder explained it would be better to replace it completely new. No other builder would have done this.

We initially looked at Highland, shopped around but came back to them. The quality of the house is amazing and have not had one issue in the 3 months we moved. They walked us through the entire process and answered every question.

I bought this house as a spec about half way through the build. They were able to work with me on my closing date and were very helpful and professional throughout the rest of the build. I would recommend Roy and Rich to anyone looking to build their dream house!

We've built and bought for many years. As in every home building experience, issues arise and need to be addresses - it's just expected with any new home. In every case, the builder and office staff of Highland addressed the issues, and took care of them over-and-above what was needed to make us happy. We count the building and the staff at Star Trail Highland Homes as professionals and friends - who made the experience fun and rewarding. We continue to be grateful to them for the awesome experience of building here.

The first home we purchased here in DFW was a Highland Home. Since then, we have built with Drees, Onyx, Beazer and Megatel. Highland was the best with customer service. For this community, we chose Highland based on our past experiences. They did not disappoint! The customer service during the construction and after moving in has been outstanding! Josh K., Spencer and Josh T. Made sure all concerns were taken care of to our satisfaction! They went above and beyond! I will not hesitate recommending Highland to our friends and relatives!

The response to issues has been exceptional. Our builder representative (Chase) has made sure every concern was addressed to our satisfaction.

Our sales counselor was truly amazing - she listened to exactly what was important to us and helped think outside the box to achieve our dream. Then the hand off to the construction manager was just as good. He brought some excellent suggestions to the table and worked through some (inevitable) minor obstacles that presented themselves along the build process. Now that we have been in our home for a few months, we've had a couple minor things here and there, and the warranty process is just as great. My husband and I could not be happier and are so fortunate to have Highland build our dream. I would highly recommend Highland to anyone looking for a new construction home. The thoughtful little extras they do in their construction really make a great product. It is evident they are not just about making a profit; they want to do the right thing. This was our first brand new home purchase and it was a fantastic experience. Our builder, Andrew, was very easy to work with and very quick to respond to any concerns or questions we had during the entire process. No detail was too small to address. We are extremely happy with our new Highland Home.

Very disappointed. Was encouraged to buy a Highland home for the quality and their workmanship reputation but this is not what I have experienced. The quality of products used is of a very low grade material, the wood trim in the house has very noticeable blemishes, knots and bumps and is very rough causing the paint to constantly flake off. The kitchen sink immediately rusted, it was replaced promptly but it is still a low grade quality stainless so it stains and spots up and if a pan is set in it for a minute it rust the sink, I have never had any of my stainless steel sinks do this. The floors look like a wash board, very uneven they look terrible also they still have glue on them that they have not been able to get off after three attempts. I was told by Highland you cant get concrete even and you can only smooth out so much of an area with the human arm span??? Really this is insulting to my intelligence, I have had tile and wood floors installed in my previous homes and it did not look like this, there are products to prevent this when done properly. The ceiling and walls show defects badly the ceilings have waves this is caused when the sheet rock is not done properly. Many issues have been fixed like one of many the tile work that had been broken on installation where they just grouted between the break instead of replacing. The concrete work at the front entrance and the patio is terrible the entrance was refinished twice but still looks awful so with all this I worry now about the integrity of the slab. When I went to clean out the windows out I found two fly's that were in there when they painted and they just painted over the top of the fly's. Clearly the contractors they use are low grade as well and they obviously don't care and no one from Highland cares either or supervises these contractors. The blinds they installed are the cheapest possible, they want stay in place. I have no confidence in the quality, stability and integrity of this home I feel like that with this many things wrong that we have seen and are still finding, how many major things are wrong that we cannot see and have not come to light yet and will fall apart after the warranty is out and before they should. It is so disappointing and has stressed me out so much and has made it impossible for me to enjoy my new home. I think the amount of money paid for this home warrants better products and workmanship this was not a low end home. I have owned several homes and this is the worst conditions and experience I have ever incurred. I would welcome and challenge someone from the Corporate Highland homes office to come see my house, I would love to hear their opinion after they have walked through this house. I don't know if something has happened with Highland that has driven the quality and workmanship to go down hill or maybe just an initiative to cut cost to make more money at the home owners expense or the people just do not care anymore. Where is quality control? At this point I would say be very cautious if you are considering a Highland home. The guys at the local field office I have dealt with have been responsive but this does not make up for the issues that I have found. This is not the way I planned on starting retirement I thought I was securing my future with a Highland home. Now I wonder if I have invested poorly and possibly jeopardized my future stability. ... The experience was not what I expected. I’ve heard horror stories about building a house and people saying it was the worst experience ever. With highland homes, that’s not the case. I literally am a highland homes forever customer. This experience was absolutely painless and stress free! I highland recommend building a highland home. Ask for Zach and use Chris as your builder if offered.

This is our second build with Highland and again completely satisfied.

Mr jerrod was an outstanding professional. He made all Efforts to satisfy us. The builder representative on final survey was also very nice gentlemen and explained all aspects of our house . This is our primary home and me and my wife are very happy to be part of highland homes and inspiration community.

I was very excited about the opportunity to move north of Dallas. I love this area! I believe the best quality living is north of Dallas. After the decision had been made to move, we had to find a builder who was both affordable and reliable. I asked my previous builder who he would recommend and he did not hesitate recommended Highland Homes. I would have to say I am fairly impressed with the quality of the work. It is a few things I would have liked to see of a little bit better quality. For the most part, I believe we have a builder that will help increase value in our home and make our home very marketable if we decide to sale in the future. David was great, House only needed a few touch ups. Alicia, the sales associate, tried to scam us out of something because we had “already closed and it would’ve been taken care of if we hadn’t asked after we closed” (which we did). Without David’s help she would have scammed us. Thank you, David

Caulking, transitions between different paint colors get sloppy, window lift not debur and it’s very sharp

Be upfront with the buyer and let them know exactly what they are getting. Do not blame or penalize the buyer for a mistake Highland made. Have real sample of building materials in one location so the buyer will not have to pick materials from a picture ina 3 ring binder. Finally make sure that the Highland team in the area you’re selling home has the knowledge , experience, and customer service skills to sell your homes.
