My salesman Hector was fantastic and very easy to work with. I would go as far as to say, if wasn’t for him, I don’t think I would have gone through with the build. The design center person wasn't very helpful. She was not aware of the costs of most choices and or upgrades which made it very difficult make choices and trying to stay within a budget when we are only allowed a certain amount of to me in the design center. The choices are limited. Our particular floor plan, we weren’t allowed to do similar features like waterfall edge on the counter tops or a decorative hood vent in the kitchen. If I had known that from the beginning I might not have bought the home. 600k plus home and I have an apartment looking hood vent. Most items in the design center are extremely overpriced. 7-8k for moen black faucets and fixtures in 2500 sqft is massively overpriced. Most items in the design studio are just as overpriced. I easily overpaid for the house by about 75k. Spending nearly 150k over the base price (even with the builder incentives) was definitely not part of my thought process going into the build. The builders lender appraised at purchase price to approve the loan, but I’m not so sure it would sell for what I purchased it for. I don’t ultimately ever plan to move so I’m content with the house, but think there were things that could have been done to increase the transparency. In the end the quality is decent and the cost is over priced. I don’t feel like I will have quality issues like with some other builders so that does give me peace of mind. My experience was very easy. I signed, went to the design center and before I knew it I moved in! The communication was very good throughout the entire process.

We had a great experience with Highland. They helped us get the house with everything we were looking for, they were very friendly, open, they gave us options and the quality is exceptional

The home looks great, but the functionality is not there. Sound travels from the guest bath all the way to the master bedroom. The light switches are minimal and placed oddly. The air conditioner blows super loud. They installed a used dishwasher. The interior paint is the cheapest quality I've ever seen and scuffs at the slightest touch. The cabinets are not adjustable. The master closet was only designed for hanging everything, which no one does. The master bath doesn't have a place to hang towels near the shower. Little things that make a house feel like a home are not there with this model. Also, the construction manager told us to reach out, but does not respond. The house just feels like it was a rush job. We love the neighborhood, but would probably look for a different builder next time. ... More

Excellent support has been provided for early closing of the house and scheduling of all repair works. All identified items were addressed exceeding our expectations.

Highland Homes was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. They were always professional and yet personable knowing it was my future home they were constructing. I found the construction managers to honest to the highest degree and were always attuned to my concerns and issues. Regular contact and updates as to the construction status was greatly appreciated, as I was living out of state prior to my move. The quality of construction is exceptional and clearly superior to other builders in this same community. I highly recommend Highland Homes.

We embarked on a journey with Highland Homes as our semi-custom builder for our first home; we had selected them due to all the positive reviews online, and we wanted to see it first-hand for ourselves. The experience didn't disappoint - we had a fantastic sales counselor (Traci) and a phenomenal construction manager (Neil). Traci was open, honest, and easy to work with during the contracting phase, and Highland Homes offered a competitive package (incentives, interest buy down, etc.). We understood what we were getting when we signed the contract. The design selection phase also went smoothly - the designer (Deborah) was super helpful, has a keen eye on style, and was an absolute pleasure to work with. The construction phase was also relatively smooth. The construction manager (Neil) was on top of things and always quickly addressed our concerns. We had a weekly call with the construction manager, and were able to understand where we were on the build process, and what type of challenges were ahead of us. The build went slightly past the scheduled date, but still within our move-in timeframe. Highland Homes was accommodating and made sure the build process met the date that we needed to move-in by. Overall, the quality of construction was pretty good. Of course, you can never control the crafts 100%, so sometimes you'll get the lousy craftsman, but Neil would always address it and get it fixed quickly. Fantastic management by Neil. Lastly, after move-in, we had punch-list items that needed to be completed after closing on the house. They were all relatively minor and have been resolved to our satisfaction. Issues with cabinet paint and wood floors. Still trying to get repaired.

Everyone we spoke with was incredibly kind and helpful throughout the process. There were a few issues that needed to be fixed that were noted before closing. Upon closing and moving in, we noticed a lot of issues. The paint, trim, cabinets, and drywall work was very messy and it has been frustrating working with these vendors to get the work corrected. They are relatively minor issues, but are issues that would be pointed out by the next buyer. It’s an incredibly beautiful home, but we wish there was more attention to detail.

My experience buying, making selections and building my new home has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. I am so pleased with the professionalism of the staff, from the salesperson to the builder… I highly recommend Highland Homes!

We thought we were buying a good quality home from a trustworthy builder, but we were totally off, it's been really painful starting from the permit submission that was not done on time and even worst the person accountable lied about it... We moved almost 8 weeks ago and still have pending thing to be fixed... The house floor plant is so beautiful but quality and how Highlands manages materials is a shame. Worth to highlight the Engineering interest to fix things but unfortunately he has too many things to do. The builder should reformulate it's strategy and try to get things done right first time. ... Working with Hector Duenas during sales negotiations and contract signature was very smooth. He was very helpful, responsive and solution oriented. Dealing with Highland Home Loans was not very pleasant. We had to work with 3 different people for several months. We asked 20% mortgage of the house value and at the last minute, 4 weeks prior to closing, our application was rejected which put us very stressful situation. There is a room to improve the screening & approval process at Highland Home Loans. In our case it should have taken 30 mins to accept or reject our application rather than months for a person with a basic financial knowledge. Our project manager Jonathan Mayfield was excellent. He explained us all civil & mechanical details related to the house, addressed any concerns or minor quality issues timely. He is very professional and supportive. It was a great pleasure working with Jonathan. There are few things to improve on quality & layout in or around the house. Such as AC unit blocks the entrance to the backyard, fireplace does not have installed igniter. ... More

My wife and I had a wonderful experience with Highland homes. The builder went above and beyond from start to finish, and in particular, the construction manager, John was very detail-oriented and professional. The result? A very well constructed home that met all of our expectations and that we look forward to enjoying for years to come!

The house product is great. We love the home and design. My complaint will be that the project managers need to pay attention to detail with the trades coming in doing the work. They are not checking the work and the quality. For the price point, you would expect a greater attention to detail and quality. The overall experience was good just detail and closing presentation needs work. House was not presented in the way I expected at close.
