It took 8 months to build and I went through multiple construction managers. There wasn’t transparency during the process and my closing date changed due to delays. Communication was not the best and the sales agent was helpful at the beginning but after the sales contract was signed, she was no longer useful or informative about what was going on. Overall, the design process was the best part of purchasing my home.

Love our home but there are few issues I would loved to have addressed. After moving in we found a couple of minor flaws that I wish we could have fixed. For example, our driveway and pathway to our front door is not great. There are small imprints that are visible in the concrete. In our hallway, we have two light switches that control the same light. One of the switches should control the kitchen light. I was not aware of this issue at the time of our walkthrough. I was also not aware that I could have asked to have the driveway repaired prior to moving in. These are basically the only two issues I have with our home. There are a number of areas where the quality of service needs improvement. However, the biggest issue i had was, there was a mouse in my home who seems to be living before us. Apart from that, for most of the issues discussed, I am still waiting for them to get fixed. Builder contact Scott is nice when we meet, but the speed at which the rest of the work gets done is quite bad. I wish some of these shouldn't need so much of follow up. Hope this review will remind about the various open requests: 1. Cabinet repairs 2. Fix the floor time 3. Final coat of paint

Lots of cosmetic issues. Poor quality sod. Electrical issues & the list goes on.

The overall materials used to build the home is good but really poor workmanship. Not so happy with the electrical planning & workmanship, kitchen cabinet install work, work around the yard that was supposed to be provided and some tile work.

Need to improve on the overall finish inside the house and they need to work on the elevation of their homes. The elevation we chose looks very different than what was shown at the time of selection.

Jack and Ken were responsive up until the day I received my keys. After that, I feel like their response to issues became little to non existent. There are things that need to be fixed or addressed. My disappointment grew after they passed over my keys. I submitted my warranty request and hadn’t heard anything regarding the request.

I would just make sure to details. After a month being in our home we noticed more faults. For example we have several cracked tile pieces, cocking missing, sheetrock mistakes. I was not completely happy with my buy if I would do it again I would pay way more attention to details.

The house is alright. We closed fast and the house was behind schedule. We were promised things would be fixed quickly as we found them but we have found that is not always the case and have had to push to get things fixed.

We moved up our closing date on our home based on Highland saying they would be done earlier than we thought they would. Big mistake. They did not complete in time and we had no where to go and moved in. Still not done with issues and we have been here for 2 months. Not the way we planned. Cabinet company came out in about two weeks and hasn't been back in 6-7 weeks- forget holidays, we are just fed up - that is only one thing that is not fixed/completed. Only move in if completely done and hope you have no issues. I will never move around the holidays again and never take a builders word for when they will complete a home - I will wait and wait and wait to close for never having these headaches and that builder will need to wait on me and will understand since we have this story to tell. The quality of the home is very good for what was done and the sales rep was great but I can not handle the ups and downs again. I have been home since we are still in Covid protocol and that is the one thing saving us for whenever people can come, I am here to get things checked off our very long of things that need to be done. Trust me, this review is being nice since our frustrations run so high but "it is what it is" as a friend of ours always says. We just deal with it. My experience started off great, but once we got close to the end to close that's when we had issue with getting items completed. The sales person was great she did the best she could to get items addressed. However, the construction team was slow and unresponsive to getting items ready for a final walkthrough. Things weren't ready until 5 minutes before we had to close.

Could have been better with details and craftsmanship, unfortunately it didn’t turn out exactly as we wanted but “good enough” which is kind of the running theme on some things. In some ways they were very radon’s ice but then they’d disappear with no communication. In the end a couple of big things were missing/didn’t turn out right and I’m tired of having to call them out to fix things.

From the beginning of the process, December 2019, Megan, our sales rep, went above and beyond to answer our questions or concerns that we had. We purchased our property before our section of the neighborhood had been started and before Highland officially started building in the neighborhood so there were growing pains associated with that. The whole process could have been streamlined had we known every option that was available from the start. Throughout the whole process we had to essentially inundate our sales rep with questions about things we could have put in the house, things that are now readily available to all purchases, ie. Black exterior and interior windows. Megan did her best to get our questions answered asap but it seemed like corporate didn't have the answers themselves. Again, Megan went above and beyond and did an amazing job. Overall quality of the house...some aspects are good and others not so much. The trim work around the house is sub par and cheap. The caulking used to seal has already started splitting, seams and taping on the drywall have started splitting, which was explained to us by our construction manager is not covered to have repaired by highland since its from settling. Correction tape and floating issues are covered but not seems in the caulking and nail pops. One of our corners in the kitchen trim is wonky and not plum, neither is the wall. Exterior paint job is spotty and shotty and the trades used throughout the process have zero respectability in their work. Touch up done on trim around the house was not painted properly after repairs were made to it. Stain in the master bathroom tub hasn't been able to be removed. Cracks on the corners of walls, and the list goes on. For a company that I've heard nothing but good things about some of the work quality is lower than builder grade at best. Need to be more attentive to the trades they hire and be on-site more to make sure they're doing their jobs and cleaning up their trash. I should not be finding fragments, large fragments at that, of brick and trash throughout my yard under flower beds and sod. ... More

Wasn’t a very pleasant home purchase. We had issues from the day we moved in and had to reach out many times to get things fixed.

I bought a Highland home because of their wonderful reputation however, I was disappointed in the quality of work and the oversight. While I love the home itself there were many issues during construction and after. The finishes of the house are poorly done and it feels like cheap labor was used just to complete the job. I thought Highland was known for great customer service however, was disappointed in being brushed off by the construction manager. The process they have with pre-closing and home orientation is flawed. We had several items on the list to be fixed but the focus was on closing and not finishing the punchlist. We have been closed for almost two months and are still trying to resolve issues. Highland needs to have an independent quality check prior to closing. They say they do but they don’t. After we closed we came to the house and our cooktop was in the floor because it did not fit, which was an issue for weeks prior to closing which they had time to fix but just could get it done. This builder has so much potential because there is a good product that could come if the building team took our home seriously in their work. The building team did not walk us through home building as it should have been done so many things were missed and even done incorrectly due to lack of proper oversight. I often voiced concern that I need more information prior to having meetings to decide on things but would not get the information I need prior to or even in the meeting. The building team should have walked us line by line what each category is and meant and not brushed over anything or asked in a general section do you see anything here you want. We are not building professionals. After move in our concerns were brushed off time and time again until I had to provide proof of other homes that I would go visit during their construction that had items we were told were correct (but weren’t) or couldn’t be done (but we’re done elsewhere). The materials are cheap. Replaced light fixtures in bedroom with ceiling fans and the fixtures were plastic and could not be more than $10. This is throughout the house - I could go on. The warranty department is non responsive. Still waiting for a response and have left serveral messages. The air conditioner is not working properly and will be the 3rd call directly to the company they picked.

The home looks great, but the functionality is not there. Sound travels from the guest bath all the way to the master bedroom. The light switches are minimal and placed oddly. The air conditioner blows super loud. They installed a used dishwasher. The interior paint is the cheapest quality I've ever seen and scuffs at the slightest touch. The cabinets are not adjustable. The master closet was only designed for hanging everything, which no one does. The master bath doesn't have a place to hang towels near the shower. Little things that make a house feel like a home are not there with this model. Also, the construction manager told us to reach out, but does not respond. The house just feels like it was a rush job. Issues with cabinet paint and wood floors. Still trying to get repaired.

I feel that the Highland promise did not live up to expectations. Cost was high, processed was rushed, too many errors and quality concerns. As one of the first to move in to this new development, extra consideration should have been taken to protect and assure a great experience. The people are very good people, but the overall corporate objective leaves a lot to be desired.

We had high hopes given the options and level of detail when we purchased our build. Then it was delay after delay. Then a rush to close before things were finished, only to find out that key utilities weren’t even up. Only after contacting the ceo for the master builder did we get anything addressed, I blame highland homes for rushing into closing without checking everything, had we known we would not have closed when we did. I’m still dealing with finish items that weren’t addressed with the home prior to closing because it’s now MY responsibility, not theirs to deal with the subs. We closed 3 months ago. ... More

Great sales team, helped us through every phase. Not everything was finished at closing and construction supervisor promised everything would be done very soon. Over 2 months later we still have a lot to be done. Funny how once they have their money very little, other than empty promises, happens. I wonder when they’ll get around to fixing the details???
