Highland Homes may have built it’s better reputation in the early 2000’s for innovative, functional and almost high end quality materials. But in the recent years it’s quality and workmanship seems to be faltering. It’s been 86 days in our new house and there are already numerous issues of workmanship and quality of products installed. Had it not been with the construction manager and sales agent. I would rated it 1 star.

Builder rushed to complete the house for closing and failed. Promise to fix discrepancies and two months in we are still dealing with the initial issues. Very disappointed for the amount of money we paid.

We've owned multiple homes and are disappointed in the details of this VERY EXPENSIVE house. Everyone provided awesome service UNTIL WE CLOSED. Then they GHOSTED. Two months in and we still don't have the items on the "closing list" completed and the warranty service is a BAD JOKE. You submit a request and MAYBE they will come out in 4 to 6 weeks. I don't actually know since our items are still open 4 to 6 weeks later. When we moved in, none of our Low-E worked, there was a FULL SIZE tool backing up our bathroom drains (they said they scoped the lines), I couldn't use the lights in my living room and turn on the disposal because there was a short and half of our electrical panel pops on a very regular basis. Our kitchen cabinets are full-out cracking in various places (and not at the seams). There are cracks in almost every bathroom grout, baseboards, door frames and walls. I’ve lost count of the popped nails which the warranty “manager” says they won’t even address until the “1 year service”. Then there are the floor plans. They sacrifice function for design in EVERY AREA OF THE HOUSE. They are pretty houses, but do not function well. (Think lack of linen closets and that you will probably have to buy all new furniture for every room and not even your washer and dryer fit in the laundry room.) ... More

Overall the quality’s very good. We’ve had a few small issues, which is to be expected, but Highland’s been very responsive to address them. Great people to work with. Wish the Ranches at Creekside developer and HOA were as quick and responsive as Highland’s been.

Little things that could have been included for the money that was spent. Doors, switches, lights these were just a couple up grades I paid for. Was not to happy about how high my foundation was built up in comparison to my neighbors. On the plus Rich n Ken did a good job of our concerns of the home.

Can't think of much except maybe be open and negotiate. Stay and remain positive thru out the ordeal.

We completed the building process from Washington state, which can significantly complicate the process. Dorothy and Adrian were amazing throughout with updates and pictures. They always went above and beyond expectations!

We love our highland home and while all new homes will have a few issues, this builder has gone above and beyond to make sure our issues are fixed in a timely manner. Would recommend Highland Homes over our previous DR Horton so far.

Highland Floor Plans are amazing! That being said the experience and attention to detail in workmanship was not as expected. Small things here and there to be finished is to be expected after closing on new construction. Having to call back because workmanship is sloppy should not happen. Pointing out issue with work performed and being told it will be fixed because I don't like it when in actuality the work should be re-accomplished because it was poorly done is ridiculous. That doesn't include the design process where change orders are lost or not submitted. This is not what we expected at close to $600K price point in a beautiful community. ... More

We closed almost two months ago and they are still working on our house. I feel the work has been sloppy and not well done. It looks like I am fixing a used home instead of moving into a new home! I would not buy from them again! My mistake was closing before the house was completely finished!!! The price we paid does not reflect the quality of the home. We are very disappointed!

Home is very beautiful. Seems to be very well built with the exception of a few things where you can tell the workers cut corners and didn’t care. Also a few little warranty items, but that’s to be expected with a new build. Overall happy with our decision to build with Highland.

Our experience with Highland Homes was a good one from start to finish. Our sales rep and our builder were both very quick and eager to help us and to be sure we were happy with our new home. We very much appreciate how we were treated by Highland Homes, and especially by those two individuals.

Excellent buying experience and living style with Highland Homes!

Contractor's building the home abused the cabinets, bath tubs, plumbing and many others fixtures. Roof in the front was not completed properly. Open holes under gables lack proper sealing. Roof leaks in front under eve. Exterior pieces were not completed properly (sealed on exterior properly). Many items identified in final walk through to be completed as part of the sale, remain uncompleted after 2 months. Lack of response by builder to rectify. Hire your own inspector prior to closing for a new home by this builder. Home lacks insulation over rooms in the attic (it is visible). Demand all items be completed before closing! Having purchased several homes in my life, new and used, I have purchased used homes that require less fixing to repair the household than new on this one. ... More

This was our first home to build. From start to finish everyone with Highland was and continues to provide great support for any and all questions or requests that were made. I would recommend Highland to anyone considering building a new home. It has been a great experience due to Highlands team and support Thank you

What a wonderful experience. My home was done in the timeframe I bvb was told it would be done. Both my salesperson and the guy supervising the build we always helpful and kept me informed.

Sales and operations staff were helpful, attentive, and responsive. A great team with a good product.

Maybe expectations were too high. But for the amount of money spent on this house, I would have expected a MUCH higher level of craftsmanship in details. Base materials that the builder uses are lower quality (cheap doors, basic light fixtures, flimsy wood flooring, counter materials in kitchen and bathroom, little toilets, light switch locations, etc.). Maybe the "area" commanded such a price, but the end product was mildly disappointing. By the end, it was too late to correct it all. The construction manager was responsive during final walk through but not entirely reactive to make corrections. There was only so much anyone could do at that point without making the product worse. By the end you are committed, your heart is set on the location, and your mind is excited for a new home. Turning back is nearly impossible. Short of a daily inspection of contractors, how can one possibly keep up with and correct issues in real time. Everyday I find things in the house that are disappointing. Highland seller/realtor was very lovely. Neighborhood is wonderful, which some what makes up for end product. ... More

House is great.

Very attentive staff throughout the process. Home is as nice as we imagined it would be.

Our experience with Highland has been great. Sales and the CM are very responsive. I would have given all five stars but we have a few pending to be addressed. In all honesty we are a bit disappointed with the quality of the paint work. It is noticeable where certain areas need to second coat of paint.
