Hunter and Johnathan have been very efficient in meeting my needs when there is a problem with something in my home and in a timely manner and they are very nice people. They get the job done.

We had an outstanding experience with Highland Homes while building our new home. From the beginning, Jon, the sales associate, was incredibly helpful in guiding us through the process. He was always available to answer our questions and made sure we were confident in every decision. His professionalism and knowledge made the process as stress-free as possible. When we had a hiccup towards the end of our build process, Jon made sure we knew that we were going to be taken care of like family. Frank, the construction manager, continues to be incredible. His attention to detail and commitment to quality were evident throughout the entire build. Frank ensured that everything was completed to the highest standard, and he kept us informed at every stage of construction. The craftsmanship and care that went into our home were beyond our expectations. He continues to check in with us to make sure everything is running as smoothly as the day we moved in. Further, he has been able to recommend a number of excellent contractors for our various needs after moving. Overall a great experience. The salesman, Kevin did a great job and was very helpful to reach the end product. I do believe there is a problem with some of the construction personnel understanding the product that Highland Homes wants delivered to the buyer. This is our second Highland Home and they stand behind their word of getting it finished to that standard.

James has been outstanding to work with. He is very courteous and listens to any concerns you might have. Most importantly, he follows thru in a timely manner. As a homeowner he lets you know he is there for you!

Jon, the salesman, was shady and would tell us whatever he thought would get us to sign. Fortunately for us, we always recorded and/or had a witness present to validate our statements. We had to deal directly with the regional lead to finally come to a resolution, including intentionally misleading us regarding the 20k incentive. He was just as deceptive regarding what changes we could make (we wanted a circular tub). After our earnest deposit cleared, it came to light that we couldn’t do that. He also misled us by 2 weeks regarding closing (the date changed within a week after we went under contract and the construction manager had no idea why the salesman had fabricated the completion date). After we moved inC we had continuous issues with the air conditioners and plumbing (hot water would either take more than 6 minutes to actually get hot, or we would lose the hot water mid-shower). It took at least 3 attempts per issue to make progress. We will see if the latest bandaids work or not. Of note, the construction managers (David and Caleb) have been amazing through it all and are the only reason we haven’t already filed suit against highland. ... More

Well there were many excuses. Change of builders, weather, rushing/more time, etc. They literally built my garage in the wrong spot and then messed up the island. Luckily we caught the island in time to fix it. But I now have a garage that is not functioning the way I needed it to be. The tile for backsplash was awful. There are holes and missing paint throughout the house. Fixtures were the wrong color. The quality assurance didn’t happen. Literally no one walked the house and tried to fix anything before we showed up they just built it and let us move in. We had a leak in the bathroom the first week. Not sure if they thought they could do a crap job because we weren’t in town to watch their every move but they are having to pay for it now. And it’s super frustrating to be living in construction, when it was supposed to be completed. Thea was knowledgeable and responsive and if she didn’t know she tried to find out asap. ... More

Construction process went as scheduled, kept informed at every stage and any issues resolved promptly.

The quality of products and material used in a 735K home is poor. The floor is painful to walk on due to no padding under wood and low grade padding under carpet. Wall finish is matte. Shower marble tile was not even attempted to look cohesive.

I can't say enough good things about Highland homes and my experience. Ken, Kent, Patti, Doug, Leslie, Frank, and Darrell have all been fantastic to work with. Ken and Kent are great salespeople and truly excellent advocates for your business. Kent spent so much time with me discussing options and helping me make good informed decisions with his transparent approach. Leslie at design is a gem. She helped us pick everything, and we used her expert advice for some things we weren't really sure what to pick like grout colors. I spent most of this process working with Frank on the construction of the house and warranty requests post closing. He has been truly first class, responsive, and accommodating. Any time I brought up a concern or question, we talked about it and found an agreeable solution. Doug and Patti spent countless hours working through the mortgage application process, rate discussions, then finishing touches for under writing. I can't say enough what a pleasure these people all were to work with. I am a project manager by trade and I felt comfortable having great partners in this journey. I bought the model home that was 6 years old. I was told that I had a warranty. NEVER NEVER did they tell me differently. I have an issue with the refrigerator that came with the house. I asked about putting in a warranty and was told then that there was NO ONE YEAR warranty on the home. I was told that they GAVE me money back to buy a 3rd party home owners insurance. The paperwork I saw, after closing, seemed to say that highland homes was paying for the insurance. Been informed now that that's now how they understood it. Bottom line, it's a very nice home BUT Highland Homes was NOT open and honest with me about this. I trusted and believe them when they told me that I had a warranty. They failed me and this is NOT what one should expect from a reputable home builder. Lost Trust and very DISAPPOINTED! ... More

I will preface this message by saying our experience with the sales counselor, Thea, and on site construction supervisor. Chuck, has been positive. However, I don’t believe that our Highland home was/is a good value. There were issues before we moved in. There have been issues that we continue to deal with and new items of poor quality and craftsmanship seem to surface almost daily. We had heard very positive comments about the quality of Highland homes, and I believe in other homes, that’s accurate, however, this home does not appear to have been built in the same manner. My list of items to be addressed continues to grow, but we really would like someone at the corporate level to either come to our house or talk with us directly about these ongoing issues and overall poor quality. This marks our second experience as homeowners with a Highland Home. Our initial encounter with a Highland Home was around 2013, a few years after we tied the knot and embarked on homeownership together as a couple. Following the sale of our first home, we consistently found ourselves measuring subsequent residences against the standard set by Highland Home in terms of quality, space utilization, and overall aesthetic appeal. Ultimately, we realized that the ideal solution to fulfill our desires was either to construct a new home on our land or to invest in another Highland Home. We opted for the latter option. ... More

The entire team from sales office to closing, and beyond was absolute incredible. If I needed to purchase a home again in the future, Highland Homes will always be at the top of the list! I had a very easy experience and they made it incredibly simple for me as a first time buyer.

Every door knob has fallen off, the hardware is so cheap. 4 toilets and every handle is missing pieces in the back. Washers missing. It’s embarrassing to bring people in to my home. The toilets and tubs backed up in 1st week. The stench of sewage was something we had to live with for a month, with a one year old and three year old. The worst thing is I have kids and the rails have fallen through upstairs. Allowing the ability for one of my kids to fall through the railing. Can provide time stamped pics for everything. The water heaters were not working for the 1st month of ownership. They were replaced. My kids had to bathe at a family members home for weeks. The lack of insulation is insane. Not only for sound but the cold. I have a thermal camera for hunting and looked at the wall and laughed. ... More

It was easy to by they respond to things really fast that need to be fixed nice house.

This was our second Highland Home. Planning on it being our last, the initial experience was good, but went down hill with a temporary showroom and lack luster selection. Then our Construction Manager was out sick from just after foundation pour till a month before closing. Never the less they kept building, we would walk through on weekends and notice that there was work going on but under no real supervision. Needless to say there were issues but luckily I contracted a home inspector. We wish people were honest and trustworthy but at the end of the day I don’t know what I’m looking at and it’s a lot of money we are paying for to have second rate contractors while being charged at a level of licensed contractors. As we got closer to closing we come and find out that we requested matching hutch and they didn’t submit the request in time so we didn’t get what we originally agreed to and are stuck with someone else’s mistake of being overwhelmed with paperwork and fill other people jobs. Currently going through the house getting ready to submit repairs orders just having to deal with this can be overwhelming. Highland Homes has been great to deal with.

Builder was very responsive to any issues I needed them to address. The selling agent was also always available and interested in our needs. The product was very good, except that some of the subs may have rushed. The door was not put on with a screw large enough to keep it from sagging, so until that was fixed the deadlock did not smoothly engage. The down spout pulled off the wall on the side of the house after the first big rain, and the paint on base boards around the floor blistered mysteriously, possibly cause by very small amounts of water (perhaps particle board?). However, Highland quickly acted to remedy all of these problems and was sympathetic to my concerns -- so I am satisfied. Even though Like the company, I have to be honest so I could not give them a 5 on quality of workmanship & materials. Perhaps this sort of problem happens with all builders. ... More

Tough process in today's market, but Highland home loans was excellent. We love the home, great quality..
