I have been frustrated and burdened with the lack of quality workmanship in the townhome we paid for in Stuart, Florida at the Preserve at Avonlea. Monica, the salesperson, was wonderful to work with along with Jim Carroll as Community Manager/Liason after the sale closed. Beyond these two people, I have been unimpressed with the professionalism and customer care/support of the K. Hovnanian team who is sold strongly with the brand and your unit upon purchasing. Very disappointed...and I work in the real estate industry and manage 200 agents along with 650 total in our company. The Sales Team was excellent, however the Building Team fell far short. Poor workmanship, major defects and pushback from them after I paid for my home and asked to get everything completed and repaired. VERY disappointing!

I am disappointed with the quality of the build, especially the painting. The front door should not have passed the hurricane test as the screws were 3/4 inch and not up to code. The grass died before the close date and I never heard back about replacing it. Never again will I purchase a home from KHov.

My first time home buying was an experience I hope is not the normal. I think it can only go up from here.

The salesman Jay rarely answers the phone and never returns messages. Also having a problem getting the warranty work done by Chris who promised next day service because he doesn’t return calls either. We were supposed to get a built in pest control system that was never installed so they offered us a 1 Yr service but never told the pest control company. Tools us 4 days and 8 phone calls to get it sorted. Once you put your deposit down and/or when you close on your house the customer service is horrible.

My townhouse is nice and the value is good. I closed on the first unit in the development after the closing was delayed twice. Some negative experiences included. The property didn’t appraise for the agreed upon price. The 2 walk through sessions before closing were useless, nothing promised was done. After closing the townhouse was filthy both inside and the garage. The garage had construction material and my wife used the shop broom that was there to sweep it out. It took over a week to have the place cleaned and over 2 weeks to have the windows cleaned and the tile cleaned because it had a film on it. Most of the main issues are still pending to include the appliances are not leveled and the handles have dimples, cabinet door in master bath needs replaced. It’s been over a month and we still cannot have Wi-Fi or TV service. Lastly, the pool is not completed. The reality is the closing should have been delayed another 2 months. Thank you ... More

The overall experience was not very good

This has been a bad experience and continues to be, I wouldn’t recommend this developer. Lied to every step of the way, if I could have got my deposit back I would have went elsewhere. The best single word to describe everything. Incompetent
