So, they have nice homes. They are better it seems than most national builders. The mortgage process through the builder was a headache of needing just one more thing and a lack of communication. When notified of issues with the home the actual builder supervisor was fairly quick to respond to small requests. Larger ones have yet to be addressed. The building crews leaves trash everywhere in the neighborhood and seems indifferent about cleaning up after themselves. I had higher hopes as they portrayed themselves differently. We love our home. Its ours. But we make it what it is.

Overall, the experience was fair - we were faced with a few challenges along the way, which we felt could have been handled with a bit more care and empathy, but understand that timing is a crucial aspect for transactions like this. After closing, responsiveness to questions and issues seem to have stalled, with a handful of open items never followed up on despite multiple attempts to connect. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, but there is a breakdown in communication between sales, construction, design, and the homeowners which makes getting answers and information difficult at times. ... Quality of homes is good. Excited to build memories.

There was a lack of professionalism when dealing with closing and because of this I would not recommend khov.

I had a bad experience, when we started the meetings for the home with the chief of construction and the home seller. During the meeting i asked them to reinforce the vents of the house and neglected to do it when they asked me what changes i would want. When they would ask me for more documentation it was for the same documents that i just submitted with the home seller. There was miss communication with the seller and mortgage loan officer.

There was some perks such as incentive. I wish they had model homes visible to see to know exactly what your getting or blue print to go over what includes in the home and how and Carpet will be laid.

We were surprised by how inflexible they were. Also, the house was cleaned nicely but they left a bunch of scrap and junk in the easement ditch on our lot behind the home. We will have to live with this unsightly situation until spring and then will have to clean it up ourselves or pay someone to clean it up. We were told they will level the yard somewhat and put down straw which did not happen

I wish I could talk to someone who is a higher up in the company

The builder met each milestones in the construction process. Builder informed us of any delays and was able to make the lost time to complete the house on time. On few occasions, we had to follow-up with the builder.

electronic signing is nice but pagers fly by so fast you can't read completely

The options such as flooring, tile, fixtures and granite is very outdated and limited selection. You need a new designer for the 21st century. Workmanship was very good and construction team was excellent.

We bought this home together... Judith C. and Douglas M. We would rate the overall experience as average AT BEST. Sales process was good. Picking finishes process was above average. Many communication issues occurred prior to ground breaking, which was very late, which ended up costing us much money and frustration. Once construction began, things went pretty smoothly, though we found the workmanship in many areas disappointing - grouting / caulking poorly done or not done at all, electrical and heating and air conditioning workmanship haphazard in some places, painting of trim and doors was very disappointing and inadequate as was some detail carpentry. As the house went up, and the opportunity to change electrical outlet placement and light fittings SHOULD have still been open, it wasn't. Several options we could have selected were not verbalized to us, so we are paying to have it done after the fact or just doing without (gas piping into laundry room, vaulted ceilings, window in guest bath...) Landscaping was a nightmare and still is unsatisfactory. The construction manager tried in some cases to be helpful, but said his hands were tied. In other cases he was non-committal to fixing obvious mistakes, that, in our opinion, should have been fixed before we even saw them. for example the railing on the stairs to the back porch was placed in the middle of our dining room window. on other occasions he was very willing to get things fixed, especially after we had a home inspection by a 3rd party. We are still dealing with a dripping A/C register in the loft, that should never have been a problem... On the exterior, there are several areas where the concrete work was done using 2 different shades and looks lousy. Based on this experience, we would not hire this builder again as they do not really walk their talk... sadly. Given a 2nd chance, we would remodel an existing home, before having a mass builder like this one do one up from scratch. ... More

Great people, OK product and bad workmanship.

We identified several issues to the builder, they worked on it but it did not present the quality of work we expected, so we had to keep calling the builder to keep re-fixing again and again. We still have several open tickets, things are getting fixed slowly, but what a hassle. In general this is a good builder and they use quality materials (not the best, but still good). I you are paying top dollar for a house and expect detail oriented quality, find another builder.

The process was pretty smooth throughout. The builders themselves did a wonderful job. The home is absolutely gorgeous and I love it. The liaison/realtor was excellent. She did a fantastic job throughout the entire process. She was incredible with communication and keeping us up to date. Any company should be proud to have her. Now the issue is there was a grading issue that the company had with the city, and the VP of construction failed to inform his team of. The builders and everyone else on the typical level you would meet with had no idea of the issue, and they all said we could build a fence. The evening before our closing date we got a call that informed us we could not move in due to the city holding the occupancy permits due to said issue above. The team had no idea and very quickly went to work on finding out what was wrong. Finally after two days of the VP supposed to give me a call to inform me of the issues, he stated he knew of the issue and that we could not build a fence. He also blatantly admitted they gambled with the revised plans being accepted in time for us to close instead of informing the customers that there would be an issue at all. Very poor communication from upper management and even to their own teams. The accounting and legal team didn't know we weren't closing on that until I reached out to them to inform them as they were waiting for us to show up for closing. Finally agreeing to the cities wishes of installing drain piping we were able to close two months late. This may have been a one time thing. I know their liaison/realtor I worked with is amazing and the only reason we did not walk away from this house. Again the home itself is absolutely gorgeous and I love it. ... More

No follow up once you have closed

We wanted to love this process but there were challenges at every step of the way. The salespeople were not as knowledgeable as they should have been and did not communicate as well as they should have given that we have never built a house before. When we brought up concerns along the way we were told things would be taken care of "later" and that "later" meant after we were moved in. Overall, we are happy with the house (the frame and foundation are good) and we got everything we wanted at a reasonable price but not without loads of stress.

Let me start off by saying the sales process in the beginning was fantastic. K. Hov had a fantastic sales representative that really took care of us and made us feel like part of the family. The whole process was great. We got to see our house every step of the way being built. They let us walk through whenever we wanted with very short notice. It was very transparent very the day we went to look at our dream house/lot. At the end of the process is when it became a real show. Our closing was delayed due to permitting issues with the city. We finally got to sign, almost a month after our original move in date to only find out an easement was added to our back yard which only allows us to use 50% of the back yard because of drainage concerns and incorrect grading by K. Hov on the lot. One week into our new home, the entire finished basement flooded with community sewage. It was found by the city that a builder had blocked the main sewer line with concrete and construction debris. Again, K. Hov quality control person was very responsive and worked through the pandemic very well to keep us updated with when they were coming to repair the basement damage. They sent someone out to clean within a couple hours, the plumber was contacted within an hour and the city showed up within ten minutes of the flood. The employees of K. Hov definitely deserve better management from the top. When I contacted K. Hov president to express my displeasure, he didn't seem to care. He wanted me to go through my homeowners insurance when it was clearly their fault. I threatened to sue and he told me to go ahead. Very rude. I expressed my concern about buying our dream home and not being able to use the yard and he said thats something you should have looked into before signing the papers. The employees should go work for a company who cares. We have been fighting with the builder and the city now for almost three months to get the drainage issue in the back resolved before the basement ends up flooding again. Again, great upfront process and great employees. They just work for a president who doesn't care once he gets his money from the homeowners. ... More

No mail box set up. Roads not added in Google maps. USPS was not recognizing the Address. I have to submit several requests to Google. Had to make couple of trips to USPS. These things should have taken care by sales rep.
