Be warned: While the purchasing and financing experience was excellent and we are thankful to our sales representative heather, the build process and the final product have been disappointing. Our new home construction was completed in June, and it is now October, yet there are ongoing issues that remain unresolved. Don’t get me wrong—overall, this is a beautiful home. However, given the reputation of the builder and the expectation of higher quality, this just doesn’t meet the mark. Since we’ve moved in, we have been dealing with an ongoing electrical issue that has not been addressed, and our concerns about the quality of the home’s finish have not been heard. There were numerous paint deficiencies and other problems that should have been caught during Quality Control before the home was ever released for sale. My advice to anyone considering a home from this builder is to ensure that you have several third-party inspectors thoroughly check the home and verify that everything is up to standard before you purchase. This builder has not lived up to the expectations set by their name or their guarantee of producing 100% customer satisfaction and the highest-quality product, as stated on their website. Our warranty specialist has addressed most concerns, which has been helpful, but not all issues have been resolved. Living in a home with problems affecting one of its major systems is unacceptable, especially given the price point of over half a million dollars. We made the mistake of not being thorough enough when checking the home prior to closing, even with issues that were identified during our third-party inspection. We are now finding out that despite being assured these issues would be resolved, they were not. This undermines the credibility and trust we had in this process and this company. I would advise always doing your own checks, no matter how professional or friendly the staff may seem. Their primary interest is in selling the home and absolving themselves of responsibility. Cheap material. Expensive upgrades. Only good thing was the warranty service.

Having lived in different parts of the country, we’ve experienced many different developers, and builders…none as poor quality and value as K.Hovnanian homes. After viewing the models, we were extremely hopeful and excited to build, during some of the building process and once we moved in we realized that many of the design aspects and quality were simply not up to par for the price paid. This sentiment has been expressed by several of us who have recently moved in. While there are aspects of the house, we like there are more design and quality aspects that would cause us to run far away from ever buying with K. Hovanian again. ... More

I will start with the positive here. The floor plan / design of the home is exactly what we were looking for. The location (Lakeview / Waller) is also what we were after. Lastly, the price point of the home was competitive and what we believe to be good value. The only other positive would be that in general, our construction manager Matt was a pleasure to work with during the actual construction of our home. I believe that he did everything he could to make the experience positive - within the limitations he was under. Since moving into our home, he has been attentive to the couple of small warranty items we've raised. Now for the negative. My wife and I have been involved in a new construction home two occasions in the last 30 years prior to going through it with K.Hov this time around so we are not naive as to the process. That said I cannot express my frustration with the sales rep Paul. Without too much lengthy detail, I will say he repeatedly mislead us during the process, committed to options that were then changed at a later date, gave assurances he did not live up to, and was very unresponsive to queries he knew were important to us. It was so bad that I finally had enough and told our construction manager and our realtor that I would no longer have any dealings with him. Communication and events leading up to closing were the final straw and extremely frustrating given we were paying cash for the home. At that point, Paul's boss reached out to me and asked if there was anything he could do to that would turn my experience around. He stated he wished he knew before then that we were having the challenges to which I suggested he should solicit buyer feedback during the process rather than at the end. I gave him lengthy detail into the issues we experienced with his sales rep as I would hate to see other buyers have to deal with the same issues. Overall, we are happy with our home, notwithstanding some ongoing drainage issues in our back yard (which I raised as a possible concern before we ever signed the contract (was repeatedly told concern would be addressed but has not been to my satisfaction). To conclude, our construction manager Matt was clearly the most honest and attentive person we dealt with throughout the process. I am not at all happy with Khovnanian homes. The workmanship and quality of the builder is atrocious. When speaking with the builder he made it obvious that the company only allows him to hire the very worst of contractors to perform the building of the homes. I cannot say that I was pleased with any aspect of the construction of this home. I was happy with the fact that Home came blind and that the backyard was sodded. But none of the bathrooms were equipped with any towel hooks or towel bars. Also, I remodeled the master bathroom and discovered how the bathrooms were built and went to the builder and had all of the other bathrooms in the house redone because they were all built the same way. The toilet in my daughter’s room leaked, Thank God it was over the garage. You have fixed that. The garage interior door has not worked correctly since we moved in. All of the seals are breaking and falling off. This was after y’all sent your doorman to come work on it. I have been waiting three weeks for someone to come back and correct that issue.The air conditioner has not worked properly since we moved in. The electrician put in an undersized breaker that trips all of the time. We’ve had issues with Sheetrock not being finished properly and then the repairs to those having to be done three or four times over. The paint is literally the same color as the drywall mud so that if they miss a spot painting, an untrained, eye could not tell the difference. I am disappointed with the quality of the build, especially the painting. The front door should not have passed the hurricane test as the screws were 3/4 inch and not up to code. The grass died before the close date and I never heard back about replacing it. Never again will I purchase a home from KHov.

Once we gave our down payment, Paul and Kyle were unresponsive and rude. It was a mentality focused on "we already have your money so we don't need to try." They did not reply to texts, calls or emails from us or our realtor. Paul also was unprofessional taking days to reply and would not even use email signatures or greetings. Would not work with KHOV again.

I am a first time home buyer and I was extremely excited and nervous to make the first major purchase of my life and to actually be able to do so. I didn’t have the best experience with Darren he is the person that we first encountered when we looked at the model home. He gave us what I thought was thorough information, but there were way to many discrepancies down the line and he didn’t own up to his mistakes which was annoying. The loan officer Burke was extremely rude. He made me feel as though me asking questions and or me clarifying information that he gave was annoying him to the point he was agreeing to things that I repeated back to him to clarify that was incorrect. And when later questioned he claimed I was the one that didn’t hear correctly. He was extremely rude nearly every time I spoke with him to the point I tried to limit it so that I didn’t talk myself out of purchasing my new home. Once in my home I noticed that things were missing screws and already falling off the wall there was no toilet tissue holder in the half bathroom and the kitchen sink has been loose since the day after moving in. The craftsmanship is very subpar at best however its an opportunity for me to put my spin on it but for the price you would think at least there would be a frame around the mirror in the bathroom at the least. For the amount of monies that I paid to Town home, expected the quality of the workmanship and materials will be at least as good as my rental home. But observed issues with the house from day1. Actually, closed the house on 31st Oct and officially moved on 1st Jan. But observed door locking issues for all the doors and cracks in the staircase and shaky staircase created multiple problems such as fell down from top.

I am totally disappointed and sad that I made a wrong decision buying house from KHOV. Subbu

Used K. Hov expecting a different experience from other builders in the past. But it was about the same. The sales team was amazing, but the construction of the home is my issue. The quality of materials are faulty and super inexpensive. For the cost of the home, I shouldn't of had to call the warranty manager to fix multiple issues within the first month of owning a brand new home. While the warranty manager is very responsive and professional. She definitely has job security especially when the construction workers are working at night with hard hat lights to build homes.

Check the everything one by one

The home has had a lot of items that needed to be fixed and some of the trades are slow to fix the problems. Months go by before they order replacement items.

The Sales team looks always busy and don't spend enough time to explain all the options available. There is no separate project management or construction team we can contact about the construction details, you always need to contact Sales person for any updates who seems very busy. Some of the fixtures in the home like doors, bathroom fixtures etc. are not of great quality for the price paid. Their own mortgage team plays tricks and delay the rate locking so that buyer doesn't have a chance to think about other options.

There were multiple open tickets that took months to complete AFTER CLOSING. I think Khov needed to do a better job of quality control before handing the keys to home owners. they are more interested in pumping out homes before the market changes rather than focus on quality homes.

Home is not worth the price paid. For a million dollar home i expected there to be some good finishes but as i live in the home i notice there are some things that could be improved on.

Poor quality paint, came off with just few drops of water spilling from houseplant. Poor quality window locks, loose and not installed properly. Poor quality door locks, 2 months and main door lock is already loose and wobbly. Poor quality of plumbing fixtures, 2 months in and taps and shower loose/wobbly. Granite was chipped and cracked during install, team refused to fix the granite crack and blamed it on us as we only saw it 1 week after moving in. Not the quality expected for the purchase price of $650K. Homeowner emergency service has very late response and team does not deliver 100% when fixing issues. Sales representative Kyle was very bad and had very poor knowledge of the options, his only goal was to sell the units at as much high price as possible. He changed/increased the base price 3 times every time we saw him, as he knew we were interested and will buy eventually. First time home buyers make sure you get someone who knows things in and out when dealing with builders. ... More

Would not recommend anyone to buy here honestly some things I see where you guys cut corners to save cost house was 358000 I feel robbed definitely worth a good 150,000 not satisfied me and my neighbors garbages are not the lengths they’re supposed to be counter tops in my bathrooms are very cheap the 3 front room are so SMALL I can barely fit a bed and dresser in them I’m counting down until I can sell and go with a better builder

I have been frustrated and burdened with the lack of quality workmanship in the townhome we paid for in Stuart, Florida at the Preserve at Avonlea. Monica, the salesperson, was wonderful to work with along with Jim Carroll as Community Manager/Liason after the sale closed. Beyond these two people, I have been unimpressed with the professionalism and customer care/support of the K. Hovnanian team who is sold strongly with the brand and your unit upon purchasing. Very disappointed...and I work in the real estate industry and manage 200 agents along with 650 total in our company. I had too many issues with my home

There are many issues with the building which i. dont like. 1)quality of the material used. example marbles used kitchen top-this absorbs water. 2)no option for customizations. 3)when ever there is an issue, the answer to the issue is the same, they do not fix in most of the cases. 4) how the common bath is built- 5) water connection in the main hallway, that can be seen by all the guests.

Multiple problems that are still not resolved.

From poor workmanship and materials to multiple misses and construction issues this has been the worst construction experience I have had. The construction supervisor was never around and missed both small and big design options including the dual AC thermostat system. Problems with heater, tiles, cabinets, even the floor in the second floor is shaking and tumbling. They don’t allow independent inspection prior to closing and now I know why, they don’t want to delay closing by the buyer finding all the issues! I do not recommend this builder to anyone.

Really poor communication. Very late to meeting. Home not completed with far too many mistakes I corrected. There was blood on the kitchen cabinets and stairway after final walk through when we picked up our keys. Got our kitchen lights 3 months after purchase after we followed up weekly never from them.
