Poor quality of home, really bad workmanship. So many issues, walk through was a joke.

Will tell you all sorts of lies just to get you to buy their house. Most options are not available because they never were in the first place. Will harass you after the home has been built, even if your not in an HOA. Workmanship is average if not poor in some cases. Will let certain people get special treatment and not work with others. If you have your own lender they will keep messing with them. We literally signed our closing papers at a coffee shop outside at 7:00 at night. I have tried to post a review a few times, but I was asked to resubmit for inappropriate content. I have no idea what the inappropriate content was though; it is a poor review. I will keep this brief so that it does not get flagged again. I have had numerous issues with the builder from sales giving inaccurate information to builders' poor quality work. I have had a list of over 30 things to get repaired or finished. It was not completed within 30 days as promised. My house was still very incomplete at walk-throughs and dealing with contractors had been a headache. Since I’ve moved In it’s been nothing but problems! These homes are built to last a week after moving. I’ve had to deal with the warranty department monthly! Don’t waste your money you will regret it just as much I do! The cheapest material are used from Cabintes to doors, counter tops I mean everything. What’s suppose to be a dream Come true quickly turns into a disappointment.

I am very unhappy with my new home. The sales rep Theory H. Was amazing but that’s where it stopped. The KHov design center is a joke. They send you to this big design center with tons of options except none of them are for you! I wanted simple upgrades and was told no we don’t offer that or no you can’t get that so I had to change out things once I closed. There are cheaper builders that offer way more options. The construction manager has not resolved issues that were brought up before closing over a month ago. They cut a strip out of my cabinet and glued it back together which has now come unglued in less than a month. The cabinet company said they would be out to fix it and did not show up on the appointment date. My backyard is a lake and I have told the construction manager multiple times about it and nothing has been done to correct it. Do not use their security company connect one they are misleading l wasted $600 on connections that were not completed as told and they will not fix the issue as they said “ I misunderstood” and it would be an additional $1500 to correct it. My dishwasher also doesn’t work and has standing water when turned on and Getting GE to come out and service it has been nothing but difficult. Customer service is absolutely horrible after closing. I was also not provided with a paint touch up kit and had to beg for weeks just to get an incomplete set. I would not recommend purchasing a KHov home to anyone in my family or friends. ... More

Everything fine until contract was signed. Responsiveness after was mediocre at best. KHov mortgage could not provide electronic documents and left it to us to "get it done". Provided numerous, signed electronic documents prior to closing only to be told at closing that KHov wanted signatures in person. ?? No tour of overall property, including clubhouse. Could not even provide detail on utilities and cable - only generic information. Workmanship: Final coat of paint AFTER electric switches and covers installed. Paint quality poor. "Gourmet kitchen and appliances" are really just average. We purchased the house in with finishes picked out, could not change anything. Only options we had were being able to pick out the handrail stain. We could have upgraded to carpet but chose not to pay the 5K extra. Overall purchase experience was a bad one, emails about issues sent, but reply's were sent back via text and visa versa. Very clever. Elevated a few times without ANY satisfaction. If you've ever dealt with a company that professes to be "experts" but in fact are clueless, this is the company. Our frustration was to the point that we requested our money back (in this market) about a week after the contract was signed - of course this was ignored. K hovnanian rejected my first attempt. I explained at length why They are easily the worst company I’ve ever encountered.

I am so disappointed and disheartened with the Khov construction and customer service team. I purchased a home on February 26, 2021, when I took delivery of my home there was some small minor issues i.e. flickering undercabinet light in the kitchen , and paint touch ups that I was promised would be taken care of in a timely matter that worked around my schedule. Fast forward to today March 26th, I was forced to take time out of my work schedule to allow your teams/trades into my home to “fix” the issues that were already there before I took ownership; those issues have now been furthered as my normally neat and tidy home is neither of those or repaired properly. I was told the work would be competed between 12pm and 4pm, Fast forward to 440 when I witnessed a Sherwin-Williams painter painting one of my interior door is with a can of white spray paint; I politely told Juan I thought it was best that they leave today. After showing him all of the issues that were still in my home that were not attended to even though they had all thought they had been fixed he agreed that there was more damage to my home after they were leaving than there was before they got there. I feel as thought at this point I have done all I can on my end. I have allowed your teams into my home and personal space, and now not only do I have to vacuum mop, and dust everything, but now we have to schedule another time to let more trades in to fix the issues that were worsened today. I have lost time, money and patience, and will do so again when your team/ trades have to come back into my home. Issues; ACrattles, AC blows saw dust and particles out of vents, under cabinet lighting, multiple paint touch ups, broken blinds, doors with ruff patches and excessive over spray, paint drips on walls (4 foot area that is covered with paint drips), carpet bubbles, carpet seams, carpet coming apart at seems, dirty or moldy shower seams, stairwell banister cracking and breaking, scratches and chips in sink/ countertop. ... The ourchase experience was unpleasant as the communication with the sales representatiive was at times unclear and out right untrurthful. I was asssured thst the items tsht stillneeded to be clompleted after the cose would be taken care of quickly. I am not sure if the definition of quickly would be less than a month but I am sure it could not mbe more than a month as a matter od a measurement in time. It has been over a month and my lights come on an off in the house, the lights over the garagr has yet to be addressed. Additonally, the dales person outright told an untruth as to the property lines and the fencing on the property. The experience was unforgetable for all the wrong reasons. leak somewhere in drywall that still hasn't been addressed weeks later Instead of Telling me my gas didn't transfer they just shut it off, so now I have no gas for a day when a simple email I would have fixed it. So now I don't have a way to heat my home on a cold day with kids in the house. I had a confirmation email with a gas company that doesn't service the area I guess, but I had no way to tell. HOA is controlled by the builder, homeowners get 1 vote, every lot they own gives them 3 votes. No matter what change you want done they out number you. I really didn't want to have to write a bad review, but this is just ridiculous. A simple "Hey, the gas is still in our name" call would have made me make an immediate fix. I've had the worst experience and it's such a shame as I was so excited to be a KHovnanian home owner. The lack of attention to detail is disheartening. When asking to remove the paint stains in the carpet before moving in caused a permanent stain on my carpet. The closet had to be redone for lack of sturdy completion. The closet fixer walked into my home and dragged all his muddy shoes on my carpet, pictures were taking and sent in, carpet cleaner hired, he was extremely aggressive with his services causing straches all over my walls ( mind you the paint stains on the carpet were not be able to be removed even though he was brought in for mud, so im living with stains on my carpet that I did not do,) concrete was called in for cracks needing to be fixed and now my master suite restroom is going to be gutted as the foundation is broken. I havent been able to use the left side of my restroom for the sinking whole. A new stranger will enter my home. Ive had 5 people eneter my home, in the middle of a pandemic, when i have elderly parents living with me, risking exposure for the lack of your worksman. Workmanship on all interior areas is exceedingly poor (fit & finish, molding for both floor & door trim, painting, lighting, cabinetry). All construction work felt rushed with inexperienced or incompetent trades in all areas. After this experience, would not recommend K Hovnanian for new home construction in any manner.

Do your homework when you get ready to buy a home, you get what you pay for

What a joke. Watch out they lie to you. Felt like I was buying a car anytime I talked to my salesman. Everything seems cheap in the house (although it does look nice). We had water in our basement 4 times. I think my wife cried once a week. Feel like the happy experience of buying a new home was robbed from us.

My first review got denied because I went into too much detail of all the things they did wrong so maybe if I leave it vague it will get approved. There was a bunch of stuff done wrong all throughout the house. Including a sewage pipe that was never properly installed/crumbling backed up into the home exposing a lot of different things that were done wrong that would’ve never been seen if it did not. The company said they will fix it and get everything right this was back on November 1 we’re now at December 11 and nothing has been done correctly still terrible company took it vantage of a first time home buyer beware get your your own home inspector and make sure they’re there for every single thing step of the home building. ... KHOV, I truly hope this review gets elevated to your upper management. Our experience started in June 2020. We’ve had multiple quality and construction issues through the building process. You guys need to perform your own quality inspection thought each construction phase frame, sheet rock and finishing. Absolutely crazy that you can install the wrong color counter tops twice. Sheet rock had multiple bows. Drywall finish issues thought the House especially where they replaced the counter tops. No one even bothered to paint the repairs, they just textured them. Sliding rear door wouldn’t close correctly. I mentioned it to the construction manager and they addressed it, but it’s not the customer responsibility to do someone’s else’s work and point things out. Not to mention I have a cooktop since October 30th that I can’t use because of damaged leaking gas on cooktop. It goes back to not performing self inspections. It’s seems to me that upper management is more worried about meeting a deadline and closing on a specific date than the quality of your product. ... More

I had a issue with the way the driveway was formed. I talked to the sale guy, site Foreman, they both said they can't help me. So I talked to the area manager. She told me if I don't like it to take my money elsewhere.

Quality of Workmanship & Material. The build quality is extremely poor. K Hov uses the lowest bid subcontractors and it shows. Every aspect of our house from the driveway to the fireplace to our roof to our septic was built wrong the first time, if not the second time. Also, K Hov will do everything it can to hide issues and hope you don’t find them during the final walkthrough. Trustworthiness. Everything our broker and construction manager told us was a half-truth. Basically, they tell you want you want to hear as opposed to what is accurate. Value for the Price Paid. I think our home price was fair but we live in a Washington D.C. suburb where everything is overpriced. Responsiveness to Issues. They do respond to your issues, but everything is a fight. They do not freely address issues. I have been in our house for two months and have actual documentation of things done wrong and they are still trying to not fix them. Overall I would say my experience with Hovnanian was horrible! The sales portion was positive but the workmen-ship was awful! I've had to have the workmen come back several times to correct tile issues, painting issues and overall repairs to my "new" house. Very disappointing experience!

I would not build with K Hovanian. Did not consider this a best in class experience. Buying the largest floor plan they offer,i expected more than what was offered. It was after I started having issues that I went o line n saw the bad reviews. I should hv checked.

Very poor quality of finished materials throughout the house inside and outside. They are still having trouble fixing the details that are not finished and they have been working for 2 weeks. I regret having bought this house from all the details that I have found throughout the house and I only have 3 weeks living in it.

This has by far been the worst home buying experience I’ve had to deal with. We are second time home buyers and I would say buying a fixer upper was a better experience then buying a new “move in ready” home. The lack of communication within such a well known company is disappointing. On multiple occasions we had appointments made and canceled with out our knowledge. My husband and I who both work Active Duty, Took days off only to show up to our appointments being canceled. When we asked to speak to a manager we were promised we would get a call and never did. Only to have this happen a second time. The second time being worse because it was a title appointment. Again asking to speak to someone we were promised we would be contacted. No one has reached out to us in over a month. Still moving forward in getting into our home hoping things would get better. We were greeted into our new home with fixes still not being completed and our BRAND NEW AC going out two days into being in our home in the middle of a heat wave. This caused our family to have to be out of the home for about a week until someone was able to come out. Purchasing a home you can’t even occupy to say the least was very heart breaking. I being pregnant and having a toddler could only go home at the end of the night when an 80 degree home was some what bearable. Multiple technicians were sent out causing me to take more time off work. The issue was fixed about a month later. I am mind blown at how a well known Home building company can have their clients in limbo for so long. Making sure to let us know if closing doesn’t go as planned we would be charged. Not once having some kind of management reach out and apologize for all of the inconvenience we had to go through. I would love to recommend this community to family and friends but based on the home buying experience we had I just can’t bring myself to knowingly put someone I care about through that. I am a firm believer in fixing the problem and moving forward. This company has not made an effort to fix the problem. Please do not trust the salesman and the sales management, the are Very and truthful people.

I would never recommend buying a home from K. Hovnanian, they have the worst customer services ever, they are unprofessional, disrespectful and rude. Upgrades afford for your home are not good quality, I been having lots of issues that are not begin addressed properly due to lack of communication throughout the company. I'm in a very stressful situation, I regret buying my home with is company. I would stay away! Buy else where, don't waste you time and money.

We picked out our lot over a year before it was to be built. Our lot happened to be the last unit built at Four Ponds. It is an absolute disaster! We paid an extra $10,000 for the end home and our backyard is a safety and health hazard. It’s a steep cliff (I have 3 young children) and the grading was not done properly and we have sitting water. Causing bacteria growth and attracting insects. The inside of our home was rushed and messy. We have a wall in our kitchen that is not flat, causing our backsplash to be crooked, which then caused our oven top to be crooked as well. The kitchen peninsula is crooked due to the kitchen wall. Serious and major mistakes!! All that can be seen by the naked eye. Our stair case was never sanded, the wood is rough and has caused injuries to my 21 month old. The staining and painting look like my 7 year old did it. All the wood trim throughout the downstairs, is dented or chipped and was painted over. We had cracks in our fireplace, the wall in our mater is off and on a slant. The kitchen tile backsplash was not cut correctly on one side. Just so many items that need to be fixed. It’s sad, because we sold our old home thinking we were moving our family into a safe, new and prestigious place. ... More
