K. Hovnanian's® Four Seasons Reviews

Overall, I believe the home buying experience was good. I believe, thus far, that K. Hovnanian is a trustworthy company to do business with. The sales personnel were very good and very responsive to questions and the disbursement of information. We predominantly worked with one particular individual and she was very good and very helpful as we had a lot of questions both before we decided to build and after we had put down a deposit to build. The design center person was also very helpful and informative and was easy to work with. There were some issues that we were a bit disappointed with...we believe that the workmanship that was demonstrated in the models that we viewed, both on site and at another site, was much better than our finished house. There are a lot of finishing issues that we believe could have been much better. As far as the responsiveness to issues, the jury is still out on that one. There have been a few things that have needed to be addressed and they service line has not been all that responsive. In addition, we were supposed to receive a login to be able to report issues to the service center within 30 days of us settling on our home...we have not seen that yet and it has been past the 30 days. ... The buikding process was much faster then we expected from contract signing to close ~ 6 months.

It starts with the Sales Personnel Mrs. Barbera. She was always available whenever we had a question from start to finish even when she wasn't working. That experience was so valuable to us because we never purchased a newly built home. We were told that we can visit at any time during the building process, but make her aware of those times because it may not be safe for us to enter during certain phases of the construction. We really enjoy our home and it is coming together with my wife's fabulous design capabilities.

At the meeting to review your new home a folder giving information about how to care for your new home and warranties would have been appreciated.

We did not know that we had to finish landscaping until we moved in.

The Covid virus outbreak precluded us from having a physical walk through inspection which would have probably taken care of a lot of things we had to discover ourselves. As such I do not blame K. Hovnanian for this. They did the best they can. Drew and Eban were very professional and responsive to questions. I was a little disappointed by the sloppy way the fire box in the fireplace was installed crooked. I'm still waiting for that to be corrected. My biggest concern is the sod lawn. It's the most lumpy, poorly laid sod I've ever seen to the point it is dangerous to walk across without fear of twisting your ankle. It's full of clover and large gaps. It will hopefully fill in eventually, but the sod in the models looks great. ... More

Beautiful home, and community. But I should have a private home inspection done. This home was a move in ready home - built for another buyer - that deal fell thru. Many workmanship details are being discovered now that I moved in. Many corrections need to be done and it has become very time consuming on my personal time waiting for appointments and the issues to be corrected. I work full time - yet have to be home for these appointments to get things done. It is costing me time and money - for issues that could have and should have, been done right to start with. Garage Door Opener sounds horrible...very loud and creaky...makes me wonder if it will last long. We've had a lot of rain and while trying to sleep there are dripping noises which make it hard to sleep....Shower Pan potential slip hazard

Cheap quality facilities(commodes, tub basins,lighting) Not thoughtful with design (placement of outlets, natural gas connection, spickets)

House is very good

The buying experience was very good, with very helpful and friendly people. Now that we have been living here a few months, several issues have arisen which are quite disappointing. First, there is no HVAC vent in the bedroom portion of the primary bedroom, and also very little air coming from the vent in the sitting room. (The model we looked at had both of these vents, and in working order). Apparently, the bedroom vent only exists in the 4th floor units, which was never mentioned to us at all. Second, our entire building was never hardwired with Ethernet cable after being told during the buying process that it would be. Lastly, one of the things that intrigued us about the community is that there was a beach here. At least that is what a couple of the banners indicated when driving down Four Seasons Boulevard (which remain in place today). Come to find out there is no beach. All in all, we do truly enjoy living here, however there are a few items about which we felt misled and/or were conveniently forgotten. ... More

My sales consultant was very knowledgeable and helpful in helping me purchase my home and went above and beyond with the closing of the property.

Our new home is beautiful but don't look too closely at the way it was built. The design had to have been done by a very tall man, with ceiling-high cabinetry and an oven that is almost impossible to reach. The paint is watered-down builder's quality. Thank goodness for the "fix it" department, because they do their best to make everything right. The buying process, if you overlook the lending process, went very smoothly.

When we met with sales team we felt good and a very positive process, while the house was being built we could see the work and that process was very open and consistent. Now that we are in the house we have had some issues but the team reacts quickly. My final comments are beautiful home but I would suggest to improve for future home buyers you should look at some other subcontractors, allow more quality upgrades, and have better cleaning crew when you turn house over to buyer.

The purchase process went very well, the sales team was great. My wife and I are enjoying the house and community. There is an issue with our front step concrete landing. Trying to get a solution to this problem has been a difficult process. The customer service team is telling me that the soil settling under the concrete landing that caused a major 1/4” diagonal crack was caused by erosion and that the repair is the owners responsibility. This problem started after being in the house for about three weeks. The battle with this continues and I hope that this review goes up the leadership chain where someone will make the decision to schedule the repair. KHOV claims that total customer satisfaction is paramount to their success. The objective here should be to strive for that satisfaction. ... More

Many items were not corrected and I still end up dealing with warranty managers that want to fight with me to get corrections performed thru their contractors. The home is well constructed but on closing the project manager let many items slide. We are happy that the punch list is now close to being finished but this was a fight to the end! Why are Khovanian staff fighting with owner to get work done? This is a crazy and the process is flawed!

Poor workmanship. The houses are built so fast, I’ve had many issues, the materials used seem cheap. Nothing special about the house. KHOV had been very responsive to fixing all the issues but during the building process not willing to change or add simple things.

Love our new home and community. One major negative. Hot water system is very poor. 2 and a half minutes to get hot water to the master bath. Froze up during recent freeze and had to get our own plumber because Warrenty couldn't get someone to help us immediately.

Laurie, our sales rep was very proficient and professional. She was the best part of the progress. Generally very pleased with our new home and K.Hov. The 30/60 day punch out process was not smooth until the new warranty portal was release, then things smooth out.

Biggest disappointment is they sell you on all these that they offer but turns out not to be true.

I have been in the business for 45 years and some of the finishes are among the worst I have seen. The caulking and painting were and are horrrendous. Hovnanian needs to screen its subcontractors better. They have both on every possible surface in the home. I have no issues with the construction team as well as the sales team. They both were very responsive to our needs and requests. Overall I like how the home was built and the majority of the materials used but not how they were treated by the painting contractor on site. We were expecting a much more professional job, considering the cost paid for the home. I will do the repairs and fixes myself when it comes time for the yearly punch list. ... More

It was great there were a few things I didn’t know about Arizona laws . But it worked out in the end. You can’t move in until the home is registered in your name at the county. The get back to you to correct things in the home, after you move in are none existent, been here 5 mouths and still haven’t contacted us.

The builder had to correct/change a lot of poor workmanship areas. In my opinion our inspector and the builder had to hold below average craftsmen/construction workers to a higher standard. K Hov’s builder was an excellent communicator & checked on as well as corrected multiple flaws. This especially evident in the painting. Zach had to request a change in painters. Our sales person was also instrumental in this process as well (Rick). The follow up after closing, for utilities, HOA specifics, & general information about the community was poor. The New Home Owners meeting for September & October were canceled & left us uninformed. ... More
